Oh my goodness, Havana looks amazing! It's so cool that you guys got to go during the short period when American's were allowed to go. The architecture is amazing! You guys are definitely making me want to full-time RV, and see more of our own country, and Canada.
Cool! Havana is a beautiful city. I went there about a decade ago on an artist student visa. If you go out to the countryside all the hotels have the exact same layout its bizzare.

As a Cuban myself I would like to make a small correction though. Cuba has never had its borders closed. The US has an economical embargo on cuba to force the dictator communist system out. Obama lifted part of such embargo and trump has put some of it back in place. Therefore, it’s the US itself who limits the American tourists from going. Every other tourist from around the world has always been able to travel freely to Cuba. Your own country is the one that has been preventing u guys from visiting Cuba. The capitol stoped been the capitol because so many Cubans are unhappy with the system that Fidel (when alive) and his government have had multiple assassination attacks therefore their addresses and where they meet is usually undisclosed places.
I love all the old classic cars they drive over in Cuba . Who went on this cruise with you ? Did any one in your family feel unsafe at all while y'all were ashore in Cuba ? Where the Cuban people friendly & hospitable to your family ? Was it expensive to take rides in the convertible taxis?
We never really felt unsafe. We didn’t wander too far from the tourist areas. My whole family went. Dad, step mom, sister, her husband and their kids and of course Ash and the girls! As far as the taxis go I’m not sure. They were included on our tour for the day.

There is so much history to the country I know Ash would love to hear about. If she wants, I'll try to send her the paper I did while I was there (the whole trip was an intensive course, and my subject to write/present on was Cuba's history).
The Cuban border has not been closed. Cuba has been a popular tourist destination for Canadians, Brits, Germans etc. for decades. The US government has imposed an embargo and travel restrictions on Cuba beginning in 1958. That is why they have all the old American cars.

I'm not sure if I would want to go there to visit. I feel bad for the people that love there and the way of life they have endured. But, thanks for sharing this with us.

It is a beautiful country, we have visited 4 times in the last 15 yrs.
