My 5712s has exact some problem with one of its spools, dealer is coming out tomorrow to sort out as tractor is still under warranty, when it is out of warranty and I have this problem I will be definitely being trying this, great video thanks
We had this exact issue on our 5610. Couldn’t push hoses in and if you could it would work for a while before it spat them back out. We just replaced all 6 with new ones and been fine since. Obviously a known problem that Massey should cover.
The simple things are usually the best, well done. I have 3 spools on my 3070 which are a bit troublesome, I thought it was operator error being a non farming type, but now you have got me thinking. Another highly informative & useful video, well done.
Yes we had similar issue with couplings on 5460 two wouldn't connect and two the hose would fall out under pressure when it got hot ended up replacing the lot with better ones. On a side not we also have 2 390s with all original couplers connect fine and don't leak just a little dribble when you connect and disconnect hoses and a 4270 which leaks everywhere
Thanks for the cid Dan, helped a lot. Do agco have reseal kit for these? I have replaced oring inside but it wouldn't fit it seems, hard to push male coupler inside. A bit 'meaty' than it should be.
Interesting: came acriss this problem yesterday, Great that I now Know how it comes apart: BUT HOW fo you get the PROBE out when it's stuck in? - on the tractor ( Loader )

These look like couplings for the open centre fixed displacement hydraulic system not the CCLS system couplers. If so, even with a dual pump system, do you find the OC system adequate for the work expected of it, on the forage wagon for instance?
Out of interest are these Parker, Faster or any other big brand couplers? I find that for OC systems, the VAP and Sparex or Granit couplers to be just as good.
Hi Dan we had a similar problem on a Renault tractor in the 80's the pipe ends would fit on a ford but not the Renault so we changed the pipe ends for one that would work on both 🤔👍
Yes, the Ford ends were not compatible with other brands of females for quite a while back then. I remember ones on my MF 80 loader that had big ball bearings in the end rather than the noses fitted to most others. Anyone else remember that type? I reckon they were excellent couplers.
The extra washer is not the right solution, I'have had 3 not working on my 5430, took it apart and was able to tighten it inside with an Allen key (8 or 10 mm. you'll see).This was after i tried to put in an extra steel washer, that stopped working after a few months.
Did you take coupling apart the same way as shown in this video - right next the nut ? And is the hex head you tightened then visible down inside the body, or did you have to dismantle completely to find this ? Any advice appreciated - my friend's 5400 has these couplings that are becoming impossible to use.
@@noakeswalker Goodevening, my last post was not exactly right concerning the Allen key, there is no. What is right is that adding an extra (steel) ring is not a good solution. The problem is it not being tight enough, you have to tighten two parts (with plyers or something, I can't remember anymore but it will become clear after you take it from the tractor. Just al little fiddling and you'll see.

Case cs86 same issue. I've spent hour messing with those couplers.
Interesting video will have to have a go on the 2 on the Massey that are faulty and torque them to spec the same way 😉
5455 here and yes same problem, replaced 2 of the 6 couplers already so very interesting fix but I don't have a lathe?
