I just had my sleeve on 1/5/22 and the hunger pains was the worse. The steroids did absolutely nothing to stop that feeling. It went away after about 3 weeks post op.

I have never lost feelings of hunger...that makes me scared, I am okay with feeling hungry though it reminds me to eat..I literally get hungry every 2 hours

I also feel the same. The first week and a half I had no hunger but now it’s back. I’m three weeks post op and I feel hungry a lot. It’s not as intense as before, it feels different. But it’s there. I wish it would just never be there like the doctor seems to suggest is normal.

A couple days after my VSG, I was leaving the city where I had it done and drove past a --- totally serious --- chocolate factory. I'd never been there before and had no idea at first why I could smell the most amazing smell of roasting chocolate for 3 blocks. But what really surprised me was that I just wanted to enjoy the smell of it, and had NO interest in eating any, as I had completely lost my hunger sensation. It didn't come back for months, and when it did, it was very mild. I'm 19 months post-op now and while I do get hungry, I can quell it with a cracker if I want to (exception: after very strenuous exercise, I do actually need to eat.) I'm working hard to maintain my goal weight of 135 lbs (5'7") with a lot of exercise and about 1500 calories/day. VSG is a miracle for someone like me who hated that I was overeating but just always felt voraciously hungry. Now I feel like how I imagine "normal" people feel most of the time.

I never lost my true hunger after my VSG a year ago. The only thing that helped me lose weight after my surgery was the healing process of eating stages. Liquids to purée to soft foods, etc… I took PPIs immediately after my surgery and for months afterward. My hunger persisted and does to this day. I only lost 40 lbs following my surgery. Not the result I was hoping for. I plan to have a revision later this year from VSG to RNY to not only help with more weight loss but to get rid of my acid reflux. Not sure why I experienced all of this but I try very hard every day to eat the way I’m supposed to. I’m optimistic I’ll eventually reach my goal weight. 🤞🏻😁

I am 8 weeks post-op gastric sleeve. I was lower BMI of 32 at surgery. It’s been almost a month with no loss. Obviously I’m in a stall. Surgeon thought I’d lose 50-60 lbs total. I’m happy if I only lose 30 (size 12) but would love to lose more. I do feel hunger like you’ve mentioned and always have. My calories are around 1000/day. I’ve had zero complications, zero hair loss so far. Anyone else experience similar? Love Dr A’s channel and follow for advice.

I had Bypass, but that's way sooner than mine expects 1000 calories/day I think. Even with protein (350 calories), what are you getting the extra 650 calories from? I'm only 6 weeks but not nearly at 1000 calories yet. And I work out 6 days a week and lift weights daily.
