@@41degreesN12degreesE Don't feel bad. Every time I wanted a Dr. Pepper I drank water instead. That's how I got rid of the habit. Just give yourself time and forgive yourself if you fall off the Dr. Pepper wagon. I still don't drink any soda pop after my surgery. Just give it time and put the effort in and the results are worth it. ❤️😊
Thank you for this information. Just hearing you say that I can have it in moderation every now and then for some reason makes me feel more comfortable about not having it anymore. And its just something about telling yourself you won't EVER be able to have carbonation, that makes you feel like its impossible to do. Hearing it this way makes me feel like it won't be so bad.🙂
@@amrnagy464I drink zevia all the time now and it doesn’t upset my stomach. I am nine months post op. But around 5 months I started the carbonated drinks.
Yeah I need to cut out my diet drinks, I drink too much of them. I like fizzy drinks but I need to cut this out because also it makes you dehydrated as you're drinking but not enough. Thanks Dr A.
I have an addiction to seltzer water (not diet soda at all), but plain soda water. I LOVE drinking these and consider it a source of water. So, with what you're saying, you can drink them, but much less? So like, IDK, one or two a day? I know there might not be a specific amount but it's one of the things I will miss the most.
Carbonated drinks hurt! For me even after almost 6 years out they hurt. I have to drink them over a bunch of ice. Then its all flat and watered down by the time i drink half. Not really worth it.
19 months out & still can't.. If I take a small sip, I burp or hurt until I do! I am thankful for it though, the sugar in a coke helped me get the size I was! 😁 🤣 🤦 Just another habit I don't need!
I know you discussed the diet sodas I don’t even drink them at all and I’m 2 and a half years from my sleeve surgery. But what about carbonated water is that ok or just don’t drink anything that’s carbonated ? Thanks
I used to love fizzy diet coka beforey surgery. But now post op, even if i want to i can not deink fizzy drinks, as it makes my stomach hurt. Even a tiny sip
I know drinking alcohol isn’t good ofc but let’s say six months post op, can I drink a beer or champagne? Will it give the same irritation as drinking soda? I’m not particularly a soda guy but I like to have a beer once a while at social events
Dr A, can you talk about dehydration? I drink a lot of water (both carbonated and regular) I'd like to know if the sleeve restricts the amount of water you can take at one time?
Short answer, yes it will. I had surgery 15 days ago. The fist week was hell for me because I could barely take sips, before my surgery I used to chug like ice cold water frequently. If you ask me what I miss the most, it’s not the food or carbonated drinks. It’s my jug of water, second week if surgery I was so thirsty I wouldn’t eat or drink anything but water (vey bad on my side) but my body was needing that water. Now that I’m on week 3 I can drink a bit more and am less thirsty. One good hack for when you can’t chug water and you get really thirsty is to suck on ice cubes.
Yes, you need to sip water all day long to meet with the 32 to 64oz per day required, I struggle a lot with that and I always wake up dehydrated cuz I wake up late. And my eyes feel very dry. I have been really trying my best but it's hard since you can't really sip too much water and you also feel full to drink more
I am 11 days post sleeve surgery and am 17 pounds down. Thank you for all of your videos!
thats pretty cool! I am 31 days post op I just broke 45lbs since pre op diet
Did it hurt bad?

I struggled with not drinking my daily dose of Dr. Pepper before my surgery, but now 4 months out of surgery I don't even crave or miss it.
This is good to hear- Dr Pepper has a grip on my soul and I've been wondering how to manage it post surgery

Yea right
This is so accurate. I tried a bit of ginger ale for my gasses after 4 days post gastric sleeve and i had all the symptoms he stated.
I am seven years out from surgery. I now have a Soda stream once or twice a week. With lowest amount of carbonation. It is a real treat for me.
That is a great idea

I'm waiting for my insurance to approve my sleeve surgery and am now about 48 hours out from cold turkey stopping diet coke... it's rough!
I too enjoy a cold topo chico. Definitely in a significantly less amount than pre surgery

I love San Pellegrino sparkling water. I'm 4 weeks post mini bypass and cannot wait to have a little sip of it 😅
Thank you for redoing this in english
I gave tp sodas prior to my sleeve in 2015
I love the way you get right to the point!
I’ve been watering mine done for the last couple of months. Taste weird to start off with but I’m use to it now

Not worth it for sure.
What about Zevia ginger ale? It’s not diet soda. It is sweetened with Stevia.
Hello Michelle!
This video also applies to that drink
Greetings!
Topo chico is the only carbonated drink I consume.
Thinking of getting sleeve. I don't drink soda or any carbonated drinks except when I have acid reflux. How does gastric sleeve help with acid reflux?

I think bubbles are bubbles so it is just like drinking soda
