I never knew Ponies At Dawn were Aussie. Even as an Australian I was completely oblivious, usually I assume most pony creators are overseas. It’s so interesting and surprising (in a good way) learning about their backstory considering I’ve listened to some of these classics for years and am still learning more about this amazing fandom. Thanks GatorGoatJohnny for putting this together, it’s always a treat seeing your vids.
People have said this fandom is dead, but stuff like this really demonstrates that it’s not. There are many many active people who are still incredibly passionate. Unfortunately most of my time is spend doing my homework and most of my homework these days is reading, which is nigh impossible to do while listening to music. One day I’ll get to explore all that ponies have to offer. Until then, we’ll see
Starting out the vid with a Studio Cinemagic PMV, fantastic way to start a great vid! I've always had a weird relationship with fandom music, where I have never CLOSELY followed it, but I've kinda sorta accidentally ended up learning a lot about it just due to music recommendations by TH-cam or just other friends who are either involved or just keep up with it. There's a TON of super talented musicians in this fandom and it's always nice to hear something from voices I've never heard before, and it's especially heartwarming when those voices are people I consider good friends. Ponies At Dawn NEEDS more attention, the work they do is phenomenal.
Glad you really liked The Horse Agrees, it was definitely the funnest I've had making music in a long time. I was also the producer and backup vocalist, as well as writer, and very sparse lyricist, but mostly it was the lead singer Joseph who wrote the lyrics
That's truly interesting, I never knew the story behind the Ponies at Dawn, I always thought it was just a combined project to post all brony songs in a single place, but it being a project to help musicians with expenses is really cool. Also, after seeing the playlist, also good taste, Rain on Me, VIBE, Daybreaker Boogie, and Paint the Moon Red are some of my all-time favorite songs released by Ponies at Dawn, but if I had to choose a top 1 for Ponies at Dawn, it would for sure be Angel by Koa and Jensen Stiles. PS: If you loved Ponies at Dawn and maybe want to look at other musicians, I would HIGHLY recommend Vylet Pony, JYC Row, and Forest Rain (mainly her newer album "Aetheria", such a banger)
Small update, it seems that p@d weren't happy that angel was my favorite song, this new album just put out Geode Heart by koa and melody brony who just became my new top 1
Horse Music Herald is also a neat place for pony music- they get a lot of songs I wind up missing here or there, which is nice. And yes, Blue Zoo wins over everyone over time lol But this video is a nifty primer on P@D and what its about- how its more than just MLP show covers or something, like folks may at first expect. This is something I can share with folks that says more than even a P@D album teaser in some regards, that's really cool
The Wasteland Wailers: a fictional band from a videogame based on a fanfic crossover of MLP and another videogame. It's funny to think about. I have no idea what the genre should be called though. "Nuke Swing"? Anyway, here are my top 10 songs from P@D, based on the play count on Rhythmbox. 1. MathematicPony - Polaris (Zenith) 2. 4EverfreeBrony - Fly My Kite (Ignite) 3. 4EverfreeBrony & PrinceWhateverer - Fly Away (feat. Blackened Blue) (Oceansong) 4. 4EverfreeBrony - Who Knows (feat. Milkymomo, EileMonty & MEMJ0123) (Echoes) 5. John Kenza - Love (feat. 4EverfreeBrony) (Anthology) 6. Koa & BlueBrony - Maybe I'm Not (Zenith) 7. Kholat - Say When (feat. Koa) (Aurora) 8. 4EverfreeBrony - Silhouette (feat. Black Gryph0n) (Anthology) 9. 4EverfreeBrony - Future (What Are The Odds) [2018] (Rebirth) 10. 4EverfreeBrony - Save Me (Zenith) Turns out most of them are from 4EFB, but going further down the list there are more songs from other people as well. The play count is also a bit skewed, since there are more recent songs (or songs I found more recently) that I might like more but haven't had time to listen to so many times yet. I made a list of 120 or so songs from the collection that I put on shuffle while I'm working in the bullpen at the office, to drown out the noise my coworkers make. But I don't track the play count on that one since it's mostly random anyway. Here are the songs from your top 100 that are in my list as well: - The Wasteland Wailers - Zebratown (feat. Haymaker) (Anthology) - 4EverfreeBrony - Second Chances (feat et al.) (Rebirth) - PrinceWhateverer - Solidarity (In This Together) (Recollections) - 4EverfreeBrony - Not Much To Miss (feat. EileMonty) (Recollections) - The Wasteland Wailers - Fly Like You (feat. Brittany Church) (Recollections) - 4EverfreeBrony - Who Knows (feat. Milkymomo, EileMonty & MEMJ0123) (Echoes) - L-Train - Daybreaker Boogie (feat. 4EverfreeBrony) (Ignite) - L-Train - Paint The Moon Red (feat et al.) (Eclipse) - The Wasteland Wailers - When The Sun Comes Back (feat. Brittany Church) (Introspection) - L-Train, 4EverfreeBrony & Koa - Battle Royale (Zenith) - Koa & BlueBrony - Maybe I'm Not (Zenith)
I'm a huge 4everfreebrony fan. In the same vein as Second Chances, his cover of Good Girl has 13 featured vocalists, collectively credited as "All The Mares" in the title. My favorite artist who I assume you didn't come across on P@D (since he made very little after 2012) is SoGreatandPowerful. My favorite SGaP song is On My Own, but pretty much everything from his album The Standard Model is wonderful.
Some musicians host their own songs on their own channels in addition to Ponies at Dawn's YT channel, and they could have different cover art. One standout example is Alicorn's song, which has a whole animation instead. You may want to check it out. Also, there might be remasters of their old songs on their channels. from I've known, Jyc Row, has done that since they're making an audio book based on the songs! (IIRC the book is released last month)
I forst found ponies at dawn through 4everfreebrony, he's still my favourite artist on there, but it's helped me to descover so many new artists that it's inspiring to not just new music creators, but creative mediums in genral
I enjoy electronic dance music, there is some from P@D: Hay Tea & Age Of Vinyl - Iridescence DJT & NeverLastStanding - Citadel R3CTIFIER & loophoof - Scholars Foozogz - Going Lucid (feat. Mei) Midnight Musician - Where Is Your Heaven Now
I caught 4everfreebrony, PrinceWhateverer, and Blackened Blue - that means you like at least some rock, and I approve Also spotted Divinum X, more approval
Omg I LOVE "Start Again" easily one of my favorite songs from P@D (Currently at that part of the video and I got chills hearing the start of the song and now want to listen to it) I discovered P@D right around the release of Koa's "Into The Nines" which was a part of Eternal Vol.2 I stumbed across the song at random and fell in love with Koa's vocals and wanted more from her without knowing this was basically her first song and in my scouring for a non-existent artist YT channel (at the time as she now has one) I found P@D Around July 2020 I even manage to get into the discord server though it Is 99% artist and as a fan I kinda just lurk and get notifications when albums drop
Looking back at my notes from this episode, I found a couple of those I really like. "The Empress of Friendship" is nice and thrashy. I like "It's Raining Now" a ton too, but IDK how much that was TCB and how much was Homage. There's all kinds of music to look closer at after doing all this.
@gatorgoatjohnny Fair. A lot of his solo P@D stuff tends to be my favourites. A while back I had too much time on my hands so I made a list of my favourite 1000 Fandom songs and Friends Can Change the World VIP is still in #1. Powerful stuff man. Hits hard in the emotions
Their albums are cool, but I absolutely hate using their TH-cam channel. They use a variety of fanart for their videos, and many are unmistakably sexualized artwork. I'm just trying to listen to good rock/dubstep, I don't want to see Twilight Sparkle's butt.
My husband introduced me to PaD by plugging his shiny engraved special edition flash drive he got into my car. What a nice first date. :3
Happy Hearts and Hooves, lol

So true. When it comes to top quality fan made mlp songs and musical pieces, Ponies At Dawn is the best! They never fail to deliver!!!

Really sweet video, can't wait to hear your song on Survivors :3
Even if you're not a fan of mlp, you can't deny that the fandom makes amazing music. I still listen to the old-school stuff. Absolutely timeless.
Survivors release (wait) party where we at
Awesome video, dude! And just in time for the new P@D album HYPE TRAIN!

I have every album on my ipod from Ponies at Dawn. It is basically my main form of musical entertainment and I look forward to every release party!
and the latest one is out now! :> gogogo get it
Based opinion already in the title 🗿
Today I faced pure wisdom

Oh wow i knew of Ponies Of Dawn for awhile and had no clue 😭

0:23 they still do ponycons in the Nederlands?! I need to look these up sometime!!
I've been trying to get in touch with my Dutch heritage, and it would be amazing to go there one day!
I always checked them out at dusk, but whatever.
PFFFFFT, Pinkie would be proud.
PONYCON HOLLAND MENTIONED RAHHHHH
Awesome video man! Happy to see an easy to watch explanation of what p@d is and what it does for the community.
I haven't checked out ponies at dawn in a while. It's time to go listen to what's new.
I forst found ponies at dawn through 4everfreebrony, he's still my favourite artist on there, but it's helped me to descover so many new artists that it's inspiring to not just new music creators, but creative mediums in genral
Ponies at dawn makes half of the mlp breakcore.
You said it!
Tottaly agree
hell yeah brev
Oh i have and will be
I enjoy electronic dance music, there is some from P@D:
Hay Tea & Age Of Vinyl - Iridescence
DJT & NeverLastStanding - Citadel
R3CTIFIER & loophoof - Scholars
Foozogz - Going Lucid (feat. Mei)
Midnight Musician - Where Is Your Heaven Now
yea lol they are like the only pony music distribution i follow now. i dont think cider party even exist anymore lol.
Unfortunately Cider Party is defunct now. Channel is still up however, thankfully.
My fave brony song is not from PAD. It's Antonymph by Vylet Pony. It just always makes me happy.
Oh heck yeah, I could gush about that song for hours.
I think people get too caught up in what counts as pony music. Personally i think as long as it's inspired by the show it counts as pony music.
I caught 4everfreebrony, PrinceWhateverer, and Blackened Blue - that means you like at least some rock, and I approve
Also spotted Divinum X, more approval
👍
Very epic
nice video man

Thoughts on TCB's stuff? Didn't see much of his stuff on your favourites list.

Never heard "koapocalypse"
Did hear "Koa At Dawn"
