Thanks for the tip .. one thing that helped me out was making sure advance tools was selected because if it's not you can't actually install anything.. I read a few comments on here about not having the same menu .. that's the problem .. once I turned on advance tools it worked like a charm.. thanks again this was definitely a blessing !
I'm still not getting anything after I select Mackie control. The pane he's in afterward in the video is non-existent. Where did he go, or where was he, in the DAW after he selected it where he was talking about the in and output port? Please help!
@@allwegot2373 just make sure advance tools are on .. but for your question he is under setup, then install and it should pull up under the drop down for the daw in and daw out ... also make sure your midi is in DAW mode like the beginning of the video. This does work and can confirm it is the proper set up . I followed exactly how he did it with no issues besides turning on advance tools

Please Help! I can get the controller to link up but cannot get the pans and faders to work, they read in the midi control center by Arturia but won't sync with logic. Any suggestions?
OK John, well I followed your advice and went for Mackie Control on the 88 and basically the transport didnt work nor the faders so I used Mackie HUI HUI which tends to work with everything and now everything is working fine. So looks like the 88 maps differently on Logic 10.5. Live was not a problem nor Analog Lab just Logic
It all went as you described. One further question: When I play the keys using a soft synth nothing happens. What am I missing? In other words, I pulled up an instrument to play and got nothing. The control surface works fine. Just no control over playing sounds. I'm sure it's something simple but haven't figured it out yet.
Thx John. Simple and easy and nice explained. I struggled because in my setup in de logic " devices " I have the Arturia Keylab MKII " as standard. However, after setting this, you still need it initialize everything. I followed now the Mackie control and all came active. Thx a lot

I've got the Mackie Control set up, but when I click on the input/output port, my only 2 options are 'Any', and 'Pro40 MIDI' (I'm using the Saffire Pro 40 interface to connect my laptop to my monitors). I don't have the KeyLab Essential 49 pop up and I still don't hear anything as it doesn't seem to be working. Any advice on where I may have gone wrong?
This video is kind of out of date now. Logic is different. And now there's the MK3 versions of the keyboard. If you're having issues getting it to work, make sure you update the firmware from arturias software center program. And download and install the logic pro script. The download includes directions. Doing this got mine working.

Dude mine glitches no matter what buffer size I set... I got this cuz my old Launchkey 25 was doing that and I thought it was defective. WHY do my keyboards do this??? Is it because my Macbook Pro only uses USB C ports? Do you think I need a powered hub?

Seems so easy! But. I know this is four years later and maybe Logic Pro has changed their settings, but this didn't work for me. I was able to add Mackey but Logic doesn't give me a midi out and midi in like in the video. I get KL Essential 49 mk3 MIDI, KL Essential 49 mk3 DINTHRU, KL Essential 49 mk3 MCU/HUI, KL Essential 49 mk3 ALV and Logic Pro Virtual In/Out as my options. For the LIFE of me, I can't get Logic to actually record anything! I can SEE that it recorded something, but when I play back the recording, all I hear is the metronome. It does not register that there's any sound coming through even though I can hear my Keylab playing - I'm using the Augmented GRAND PIANO plugin.. or, trying to anyway! I've spent this entire 3-day weekend fiddling and just trying to get it to work. I feel like a complete failure and have by now forgotten the song I was intending to create.

Make sure you have advanced tools enabled or these menus will never pop up and you'll think you're losing your mind.

this happened to me! your keyboard is not connected properly into your laptop take the wire and put it back in again or in a different port

I’m getting back into music production after being out for a while... does this mean you don’t need to route this through a MIDI interface?
