Hello, welcome back! After I'd watch this video: th-cam.com/video/VXU6frnD9WA/w-d-xo.html that talks about town designs in pokemon, I wanted to suggest you ranking the towns from the Mario RPGS. (I think Paper Mario TTYD has enough to make 1 video, but the other games you cover, you might have to compile them up)
Trivia. Using Peach's parasol during Super Dimentio's fight for long enough will make him spawn many 8-bit Luigis that will start chasing the player. Even though they do a single point of damage it's a cute little attack he does ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
People complain about how short the bosses are, but that’s less of an issue with the game and more with the genre. Besides, I feel the bosses in other Paper Mario games have little to no challenge either.
Correction: they’re short even for platforming standards, and besides the other bosses (at least in the first game) are very difficult if you don’t know what you’re doing.
Unless you spend hours grinding enemies and are insanely overpowered, the bosses aren’t much shorter. Besides, Super Paper Mario isn’t a platformer, it’s an action RPG. The bosses in the original Paper Mario are not difficult at all. I managed to beat the entire game with no items and mostly basic attacks on my first play through. Any “difficulty” the game had was from having to exit out of the battle just to equip new badges, which I just found to be annoying. The battles only last longer because it’s turn based, not because it’s any harder.
@@kumaranrvn5716 you’re always insanely overpowered from the moment you get Bowser. And another huge factor you haven’t considered is that weak points are always exposed meaning it’s very possible to stun-lock bosses without even trying. Also you must’ve stocked up mostly on HP if you’re telling me you beat all of the bosses from the first game without consuming FP which only makes things longer. Especially when the first two games aren’t exactly the easiest to cheese since they require you to know the ins and outs of the games coupled with compensating for the risks. (I’d know because I’m a challenge runner and I don’t really struggle with any of the bosses anymore.) How would you have guessed that say, Huff n Puff was weak to Chill Out. There’s no way of knowing. And a lot of people struggle with that boss specifically (as well as all the other Chapter Bosses starting with World 5) because they don’t know the weakness. (Lava Piranha has the most obvious weakness but you’d still have to exploit it to have an easy time.) Bottom line is you may have had an easy time with all the fights but that doesn’t mean most people will.
Most bosses either go invisible or have a pushback after being hit. There isn’t a single boss where you can jump on it once and do nothing to win. You have to try to stay on the boss or you will be pushed off. Any issues with the gameplay have to do with the characters needing to be better balanced and not really the bosses. I did not stock up on HP. I leveled BP to 30 and upgraded my other two stats evenly. Bosses can be cheesed pretty easily. The only partners you need are Watt and sometimes Bow. Watt being able to ignore defense basically means you deal extra damage to those bosses. Anyways, I said that I beat the game with no items and mostly basic attacks. The game gives you infinite free healing from inns/recovery blocks, which are commonly found. If I needed healing during a battle, I would just use a Star Spirit. There’s no reason to spend coins buying healing items and I found attack items to be useless. At least Super Paper Mario encourages players to buy healing items because the only inn is located in Flipside and you only get one-time use Mushrooms during levels. The only time I used FP was in the chapter 6 boss and Bowser. I could have easily beat Bowser with only basic attacks but I just wanted to get it over with. As for Huff N. Puff, I never used Chill Out. I just used Bow’s basic attack to summon many minions and used Multi bounce to get rid of them. If it ever used a powerful attack, I would just go invisible. Like all the other bosses, there is little strategy and you just spam the same 1 or 2 attacks until you win. The most annoying part on my first play through was having to exit out of the battle to equip Multibounce, which is just bad game design. The game only lets you tattle enemies during battle, but you can only change badges in the overworld. Unless you’re lucky and have all the badges you want equipped, you’re forced to exit out of the battle to change badges. Super Paper Mario lets you tattle bosses and doesn’t force the player to exit the boss arena to change anything. Anyways, any player that finds the boss weakness and doesn’t mind constantly exiting to change badges will have an easy time. They aren’t any better than the bosses in Super Paper Mario in my opinion. I have seen people struggle with bosses that most people find easy in Super Paper Mario because they choose not to tattle and find the weakness.
@@kumaranrvn5716 insightful. However, it is actually possible to stun-lock the bosses, not by jumping, but by Bowser’s Fire which means that knockback means nothing when you just pin bosses in a corner, hold down and win. Especially when A) his Fire has insane reach and B) Bosses that go invisible are just too seldom and are better off faced with another character. You just need to read my comment (not these replies that sound like we’re arguing Aramaru style, but the comment I left for the video) to see the difference between how many bosses can be cheesed and how many can’t, and suddenly, any healing is discouraged by the fact that Bowser makes you basically invincible. Even taking away my experience with challenge running (Bow is better than Watt in battle for the record BTW) I always was a little squeamish on liking 64’s boss lineup, but it’s almost too easy to break Super Paper Mario with just Bowser alone or some other cheap strat. Also random but irrelevant question, how many Game Overs did you get trying to beat the game with no attacks?
“There is not a single tactic to defeat Francis easily” Items would like to have a word with you (you can use the freezing item that I forgot the name of and then kill him with bowser in a few hits)

Wait, Bowser can't get jumped on in this game? WHY!? What about the last 2 Paper Mario games where Mario COULD jump on him in order to deal damage!? Why can't he do that here, Bowser doesn't have a crown on his head like in Sticker Star which I did look pointy at the top which I guess would hurt to jump on, what changed THIS TIME!?
I remember hearing this discussion on Flat Mates. And yeah, the bosses are real bad. Here’s my take on the matter: 18. Bonechill (Luigi’s Super Jump go Brrr. Mimi Ch. 6 (Barry breaks the fight wide open. Also you can take her out in two hits. Noticing a pattern here?) 14. Big Blooper (Play the waiting game or leave luck to The Overthere as you try to get three hits on the red tentacle.) 13. Shadoo (Cheese the fight with Bowser and a Lovely Chocolate. Next!) 12. Wracktail (Interactive Cutscene.) 11. Fracktail (Interactive Cutscene.) 10. Brobot L-Type (I love that you can’t really cheese this fight but you have to tattle the boss to find his not-so-obvious weakness. Also the fight kills the area’s mood.) 9. Bowser (Either use Boomer or jump on him. That’s all.) 8. Mimi Spider (At least she can’t be cheesed? Still easy.) 7. Francis (I’m about to ruin this fight for you. Stand in the middle and jump to either the right or left.) 6. Dimentio (A bossed that can’t be cheesed! Whoop de doo. Too bad you kinda have to play the waiting game with the Chapter 3 fight.) 5. Super Dimentio (Easy to cheese, and does less damage than Dimentio. At least it works on a story/atmosphere/music standpoint.) 4. Count Bleck (Finally, a boss that feels like it’s trying. A pretty solid fight as a result.) 3. Underchomp (This boss is just as bad as most, but I kinda dig it for the Undertale prediction.) 2. King Croacus (The only well-designed boss since his weak point isn’t always exposed and he even has a second phase. Imagine if this was how the other bosses functioned, and I’d be singing a different tune on the bosses as a whole.) 1. Mr. L/Brobot (The Mr. L fight is nothing special, but the Brobot fight is a spaceship shooter. If only it didn’t feel too short because it’s easily the best fight in the game.)
I watched this vid finally! Wait til he finds out Fleep/Items are broken as heck Okay you missed three bosses: And imo they just have to the three hardest in the game Shadoo is easy if you know what this thing called a block block is, but if you don’t have one, it may be the hardest fight in the entire paper mario series, 4 clones of the heroes that have 100 or 200 HP, and dying means you have to redo the garbage Flopside pit again, and you’ve already done it twice Boss Sammer Guy: Terrifying to die too, breathes fire, bat that does a crap ton of damage. You better grind xp or you go back to duel #1 Wracktail: it honestly doesn’t matter how much health you have, if you don’t get the cheese, call yourself ended, those pesky creatures spit projectiles at you that reduce defense and deal 10 damage a hit. Thoreau isn’t an option, use Luigi Also I feel with your reasoning, King Croacus should be higher than Brobot Good Vid, as always
This was an interesting list. I'm kind of surprised that Big Blooper was at the bottom. I will agree that it would benefit from another attack other than the tentacles, but I prefer it over a few of the other bosses, because at least it isn't dead in a matter of seconds like some of them. I probably would've put the second Mimi fight a bit higher, because without the cheese, it does actually feel a bit challenging, which is pretty rare for this game. The fact that's she's often surrounded by rubees and flies around makes it harder to hit her. It's still not all that memorable, though, I'll admit that. I personally still wouldn't have put it very high, but at least above the second to last spot. I think the Fracktail fight is quite a spectacle for only being the first boss, but I think it's not all that great gameplay wise. As you said, the first part of the fight is pretty much a boring wating game, and I also think he should deal more damage. Sure, I get that it's the first boss, but only 1 for all of his attacks makes it pretty pathetic, especially when they're very easy to avoid. I will agree that being able to stay on its back for longer is pretty cool. I can see why he's high up, but I'm kind of surprised to see it make it all the way up to the top 5. The last thing I'd like to mention is that I don't think Super Dimentio is quite worthy of the top spot. You mentioned the fact that you probably shouldn't be able to damage the body, and I definitely agree. Sure, it has defense, but it's ridiculously easy to hit. I've had plenty of times where the fight ended very quickly because I jumped on the body like 10 times in a row without falling down. Also, while its attacks are tough to dodge sometimes, they don't deal very much damage. The only ones that deal a decent amount are the punch and high jump, which are both pretty easy to avoid. I will say it's definitely deserving of top 5, maybe top 3, but 1st is kind of pushing it for me. Overall, I think this game does have a fairly weak selection of bosses, unfortunately. So many of them die absurdly easily, or just aren't that interesting. I think if more of them were difficult to hit, such as King Croacus, or implemented multiple phases like both King Croacus and Mr. L in Chapter 4, the overall quality could be better. I often enjoy finding uncovential ways to win, such as using Thoreau to defeat Bonechill with his own projectiles, or actually jumping on top of brobot by using his projectiles to reach him. It can make the fights more interesting, so I kind of wish it wasn't so easy to quickly obliterate most of them.
I agree with all of this except for wanting Mimi 2 higher. You brought up the difficulty without Bowser, but despite this, Barry also kinda breaks the fight wide open allowing you to get around her rubees.
@@Driggsdamonstah I hadn't really considered using Barry, but yeah, come to think of it, that would make the rubees much easier to deal with. He is at least still an optional pixl, though.
I remember have a lot of trouble on the second Mimi fight when I was little. I don’t know why I think I had trouble getting up to hit her and I didn’t have many healing items so I kept dying
I feel as though the ranking wasn’t very fair because he based his rankings on difficulty using bowser who is the same character that is there to specifically cheese battles
21:51 There actually is a super easy way to beat Francis not many people know about, and that I wouldn't consider a "cheese" because it's a very intentional mechanic. You can actually hear Francis walking around the room and the sound is directional. It's easiest to tell if you wear headphones, but just stand in the middle of the room, listen, and you can follow the sounds of his footsteps allowing you to anticipate exactly where he'll show up. It's super subtle too, and for the longest time I always just thought it was some weird part of the battle song. And if you can't hear him or can't follow the sound easily, just flip into 3D and you'll always see his shadow on the floor.
Bosses like Super Dimentio are why SPM's unique gameplay style tends to end up rather detrimental. What's worse is that even though he's a super juiced up version of Dimentio its attacks don't really have the same chaotic dimension-warpy stuff he's known for. Not only that but Bowser's sheer strength can overpower him WAY too easily and can make the fight feel super quick, and his slowness isn't even an issue because Super Dimentio himself isn't that fast. They already took away Luigi from you, so I don't see why they couldn't have taken away Bowser and Peach to make it even more of a challenge with just Mario. As a side note, I really wish more bosses like Fracktail used the 3D mechanic. Most boss fights are just relegated to "use partner/jump/breathe fire" which feels rather samey.
See it being at number 14 shouldn't be a sign of it being kinda high, it should more show how underwhelming the bosses this game has. This boss isn't terrible in my opinion but its easily the worst Chapter Boss in this game
They could revisit this concept and make it much better. Seems to be they didn't know how to transition into an Action RPG. Kept things way too simple.
I felt that Dementio's fight at Castle Bleck was the best 1 on 1 fight. with Bowser and Peach they HAD all the pixels making it super easy, while with Dementio you just had Luigi. I felt that all the 1 on 1 fights should have been without pixels and just the character you play as because it would have been harder and much more fun.. OR just give the boss a crap ton more HP considering it's end game and you do A LOT of damage. Super Dementio should block his weak spot too. (also to make the Blooper fight worse, if you remember what position the red tentacle is, you can ground pound it and EASILY destroy the fight lol.)
Great ranking! I cant wait to see how many videos you will do this year! And by the way, check my comment in your fixed one. I think this idea could make an awesome video.
Shroob 2weeks ago: I'll play Sparks of Hope and I'll do a boss ranking about this game. Now:This game sucks and I don't want to finish it. Me:EMOTIONAL DAMAGE hahahahah
IM SORRY I FIND THE GAME BORING 🤣Well I’m not sorry about finding the game boring but sorry that I said I would make videos on it and I probably won’t. And I know the debate of well sticker Star is bad as well as color splash and you still talk about those games. Well I at least find those games interesting bad, Sparks of Hope and Kingdom Battle I just find boring, not even bad which really makes me have no motivation to make videos on them.
How tf is king croacous top 3? Its literally one of the easiest in the game...first time I beat it in seconds. It's a forgettable and boring ending to a somewhat forgettable, definitely boring chapter.
Hmm, I can describe them for you (so you can get a feel for them, I don't need a ranking) Wracktail is Fracktail but again. His attack and HP were bolstered, but otherwise the same The Shadoo feels like the Bowser/Luigi battles but they are a lot more aggressive Francis 2 is Francis at 2x speed and can be a nightmare if not mentally prepared
See I feel like the reason why this is the most forgettable is because TTYD is great to people, and sticker star is hated on. SPM is just at this middle ground where people just kinda don’t care which is honestly pretty fair
It never was forgotten in my eyes. Like, I know people don't seem to remember the game, but I do. Most of that stems from the love story tho. I'm a sucker for those sort of things 😃
I think super paper mario paper mario 64 and paper mario thousand year door are really good I hope nintendo does a paper mario trilogy with paper mario 64 paper mario thousand year door and super paper mario on it

This is a great analysis
The difficulty changes depending on your level.
I remember have a lot of trouble on the second Mimi fight when I was little. I don’t know why I think I had trouble getting up to hit her and I didn’t have many healing items so I kept dying
Well I bet you didn't have them because you had to use them all to get through Sammer's Kingdom lol
@@ShroobInvader probably
my favorite paper mario game gets a boss ranking
Heck yeah :D
and it’s happening soon
You should mention that in the 2nd Bowser fight he will charge right at you.
I feel as though the ranking wasn’t very fair because he based his rankings on difficulty using bowser who is the same character that is there to specifically cheese battles
15:38 funnily enough, i did this on my first playthrough, it was hilarious
you're one of my favorite youtubers
Much appreciated my friend :D

There actually is a super easy way to beat Francis not many people know about, and that I wouldn't consider a "cheese" because it's a very intentional mechanic.
I kinda disagree with your opinion on the blooper, I love its boss music!
Seeing super Dimentio at number one is all I ever wanted.
It deserves it!
You're not alone!
"You thought Count Bleck was the final boss, but it was me, Dimentio"
Hot take but this is the best paper Mario game
For someone with only 7k subs, you have really good video quality
Personally, I'd have put Bonechill lower. He was a terrible boss. Especially for the second to last world
See it being at number 14 shouldn't be a sign of it being kinda high, it should more show how underwhelming the bosses this game has. This boss isn't terrible in my opinion but its easily the worst Chapter Boss in this game
Bowser's first fight would've been cooler if he had throwable enemies spawn by flipping dimensions
O chunks: (grows big)
Bowser: no, I'm the only villain who grows big in Mario games!
I loved playing as Bowser, the way his arms spun around when he’s hit🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
They could revisit this concept and make it much better. Seems to be they didn't know how to transition into an Action RPG. Kept things way too simple.
I think i usual use bowser because i think it was great to get to use bowser instead of fighting bowser but it would if you could re battle the bosses
I very much agree with this
Can you make a boss ranking for the thousand Year door since you did it for this game
Could you do a ranking of the Super Mario RPG bosses?
I have two idea for you ranking all the badge dream team and ranking all first enemy
Are you still taking my idea of ranking all the Mario rpgs by presentation (music and graphics) into consideration
Yes I am!
Yay! Next video perhaps
Wiggled : a boss fight in every Mario and Luigi game
Blooper : a boss in every paper Mario game
I meant wiggler , the autocorrect ruined it
get wiggled
@@RamaRama-ko4dpColor Splash doesn't have a Blooper fight.
Great ranking! I cant wait to see how many videos you will do this year!
And by the way, check my comment in your fixed one. I think this idea could make an awesome video.
Ye for sure and thank you :D
Yeah, I haven't played spm in years but I saw big blooper at the bottom and said, "yeah, he sucked"
Ik it seems like a lot of work, but maybe if u reach 10,000 subscribers or something, u rank every single enemy of one of the RPG's
The undertop is based on the mother series games
14:12 the footage of luigi getting destroyed was hard to watch
I agree. It was hard watching two beloved brothers battling each other
Ah swirls I wish I could talk about this game!
@@ShroobInvader it's fine, I was just joking with you
How tf is king croacous top 3? Its literally one of the easiest in the game...first time I beat it in seconds. It's a forgettable and boring ending to a somewhat forgettable, definitely boring chapter.
FR. All you have to do is hit King Croakus in the face when he blooms
23:45 also it'd not supposed to be cheese it's intended
Do you know when the superstar saga part 2 video will come out
we have been working on it recently so while I don't know the exact date, it is in production
Da Shroob do be back!
I do be back :D
Shroob, where is the part 2 of your collab with SlashStar???
Him and I are gonna work on it pretty soon actually
@@ShroobInvader Nice😎😎
Algorithm boost (I'll do this whenever I see a vid of yours in my recommended, I'd do them all but there's just too many)
Thank you for any support my friend LOL
How tf isnt Dimentio 1st
I didnt watch the vid
Hmm... Where would you place the unmentioned bosses in this list off the top of your head?
I can’t place them. I haven’t fought any of them. My guess is that Wracktail would be just as good as Fracktail but that’s the only one I can place
Hmm, I can describe them for you (so you can get a feel for them, I don't need a ranking)
Wracktail is Fracktail but again. His attack and HP were bolstered, but otherwise the same
The Shadoo feels like the Bowser/Luigi battles but they are a lot more aggressive
Francis 2 is Francis at 2x speed and can be a nightmare if not mentally prepared
Yes
Yes
Shroob did you watch the Nintendo Direct? I’m pretty sure you know why I’m asking this.
Rank yoob’s body parts!
😐
Yoob will get his time one day
@@ShroobInvader thank you good sir
Are you still thinking about getting bug fables?
By the way did you get sparks of hope?
I did, and I don’t plan on finishing the game. I’m personally just not interested in what the game offers.
🥺
Awrrr
Is it just me or is super paper mario the most forgettable Mario RPG????
See I feel like the reason why this is the most forgettable is because TTYD is great to people, and sticker star is hated on. SPM is just at this middle ground where people just kinda don’t care which is honestly pretty fair
To be honest I know nothing about this game despite brobot and the 2D/3D mechanic
