Is there anything that can be done for the tendons other than praying? Our rescue got a quarter horse recently with a very similar overgrown and bent back opposite hoof issue from neglect. She had got to where she couldn't barely walk at all even to get food and was underweight. They'd left her in a field and would throw hay in but she was in with cows and they were eating all the hay first. Finally a neighbor contacted my rescue and they signed the horse over to us. We were able to remodel the hoof itself and it now lays flat approx like you'd want but she won't put much weight on that foot and it's been over a month with little to no sign of improvement. She is tough as nails and will stand and eat but ability to walk is not good. I recognize that we may not be able to solve this one but I thought I'd ask if you knew any methods we could try, thank you. @@olsenequinecjf

One appointment and he goes from walking on a rolled ankle to a completely normal stride, not even any limping. Such a huge difference in such a short time. I hope he gets a follow-up appointment at some point to get that hoof trimmed more into the correct shape, but he's already so, so much better!

I was going to say the same. There's no way he's going to be sound immediately after that trim. It will take a huge amount of time for rebuilding of tendons, muscle, other connective tissues. Plus it will be at least 2 to 3 more trims until he's dialed in to the point where he can handle any type of distance or with load. It just takes time to heal from where he was at.

@ken Rowell you sound like a very kind compassionate person, are you aware of the pain and suffering animals go through in factory farms and slaughter houses ?
Anyone eating meat is contributing to the pain and suffering by purchasing the corpses of animals to eat,we don't need to eat meat, plants provide everything we need to survive and be healthy.
Do you know how much suffering is in a glass of milk or piece of cheese.
Research dairy farming ,watch new born calves being taken from their mothers, not allowed to drink their mothers milk because greedy humans want to sell it to other greedy humans, cows are very maternal and cry for days for their babies. Cows are forcibly bred every year in order to produce milk, the male babies don't produce milk so they are usually shot
or sold as veal. The cow is not your mom it's not your milk.
Research the chicken factory farms see how your eggs are produced, male chicks don't lay eggs so They are ground up alive ,drowned or gassed to death ,google cattle factory farms, see how pigs are being kept, most people are completely unaware of the cruelty and suffering these animals go through every minute of every day because the consumer demands it.

What a beautiful donkey! Very nice, warm chocolate-colored fur with a withe rim around the eyes and white belly. That's really a pretty combination.

I never heard of someone using an x-ray to guide a hoof trimming. But it's good you are so careful with that saw. This reminds me a little of something I saw on a television show. A gal asked her co-worker how he could accomplish what he did on his computer. He said that he has this little trick called knowing what's he's doing.

Yeah, that's pretty much my secret weapon. I had a little business fixing computers. The customers thought I was genius. But most of the credit actually goes to google. I was looking up stuff constantly when I got into trouble. A lot of customers knew that's what I was doing, but they didn't care because the problem got fixed. And that's what counts at the end of the day. There are a lot of subjects that are so broad that no one person could ever know everything about it. So, being able to look up information when you need it is an important skill.
