No way!! I am playing through the first Gears of War with one of my closest friends right now! I was also watching a bunch of Gears of War 1 videos on YT over the past few days, too. We're playing through Ultimate (GoW1 remake) and just reached the last boss fight. I really loved Gears 1. I got it as soon as I got my Xbox 360, if not then not long after I got it. The cover system in this was decent, and the shotgun was so satisfying to use in this game. I don't think I played anything with a cover system similar to this besides Gears 2 and 3, but I can't really remember right now. I was a massive Halo fan, which made me get the 360 over the PS3 when I was able to get a newer gen system at the time. Gears 1-3 made me so happy to have the system.
the entire uncharted series used it to my knowledge and a lot of the more grounded 3d shooters use cover systems now so its not ultra common but common enough to make me curious about it at the very least. I remember playing Gears 1 and 2 but I think I stopped after that and never dove into the series again it was a good series so I'm not sure why I stopped to be honest. Thanks for coming by and hanging out btw!
I feel like some of the mechanics stuck around they just got blended into games more so its not the "only" mechanic there now. However it does feel like a lot of games are trying to hard to throw souls like mechanics in games atm for the "challenge" not realizing you can do that in other ways.
@@geekstorian What console was the first even on? I'm just not familiar with the series... I have heard people in recent years talk about it, which made me think it was a modern franchise.
@@scramblesthedeathdealer xbox 360 is when I recall it first dropping if I recall properly it was a solid series the X360 was a great console if you never had one I'd recommend it man.
@geekstorian We did actually play some Rock Band/Guitar Hero on PS-2 (my ex-wife and I) and we got a Wii for out son, so I guess I was playing Wii and PS-2...

Loved Gears. That original trilogy (+Judgement) were a golden time in gaming on the XB360.
Yeah this mass effect and halo really were some huge hitters for the system couldnt agree more more! Thanks for coming by and hanging out btw!
This was such a good game. The cover shooters need to come back

@@geekstorian I really fell out of gaming around the PS-2 era, I was playing in bands, then started reproducing at a young age... 😂😂😂
