Say what you will, Ford did a great job shrink wrapping the trans tunnel around the transmissions they were building at the time. Makes it a little tight when you use a later transmission.
Ahh, gentlemen, I must thank you, as this is the same setup I'm doing in my 65 Fastback. I've seen two other builds on TH-cam recently, and that pass side rear tranny case ear is a problem. I'll grind mine a bit, and try to keep most of it. I've got the Scott Drake shorty headers, and pass front ear on the bell housing, is "collision" point as well, the ear will need to go. We do do love watching our favorite manic mechanics "buddy" duo, AKA Riggs and Murtaugh, back together again!!!! Can't wait for the next installment!!!! God bless...
Oddly the hypoexhaust manifold are doing pretty well. Precision Exhaust is working on an h-pipe to go with AOD/ 4R70W Installations using hypo exhaust manifolds. We are looking to do an episode putting that exhaust system in this 67.
I was a little leary of the black on black but that splash of red really sets the engine off. On a side note I really appreciate the videos in your library I just ordered some weatherstrip kit for my 69 F250 and the videos you did on them are invaluable I have watched them several times. Thank you very very much. Have a great day guys.
It's interesting- has nobody thought of the little tools I use for parking engines to transmissions, that have work for me the last 50 years. I've have one or the other out of the race cars every year or so. Get a couple of 2"-3"ish 5/8 bolts, cut the heads off. O e a tad shorter than the other. Thread those in to the block near the pins. Lift trans, or lower engine, let pins catch the bell, adjust and slide the two together. Hand remove pin, thread bolt, repeat. Works well, especially in the old days with no lift, humping a manual trans off your chest i to the car while laying in the driveway.
I recently put in the same set up but I'm having trouble with setting up the shift linkage. I bought a Mr Gasket universal shifter as I thought that would be easier plus I liked the look, but it's a bit tricky. Hope you guys can include that part in the next video for dummies like myself
I’m thinking of swapping a 302 into my 2003 V6 mustang with the 4R70W, can I reuse my stock transmission for the swap or will I need a different transmission? I’m mainly doing it to save money until I can afford to replace the transmission and add all the things needed for a manual transmission
I use the lift plate to install engine and transmission together all the time, in fact just put my 302/t5 combo in my '66 mustang with the same plate you're using. They are not worthless, you just need a little skill.
I just don't like using them for transmission engine combination installs. It's just a lot easier with the chain system than it is with just a lift plate. As for putting an engine in I would rather run the lift plate because you have less chance for damage of components.
The multiple camera angles and editing is great also. Not overdone but just right.
Thanks so much for the kind words.
The engine looks great....black on black ❤
Yeah I really dug it after I put it in the car
Just make sure that I get my HotWheel when I get there !!!! And a beer...yes a beer will make it all better. See yah all soon.
You got it Bill if I can find one we'll get it for you. The beer will probably be easier to find. Unless Cam drinks them all.
I love your videos. I always learn something.
I'm so glad!

That's the first time I've seen the motor mounts left loose at the block to make alignment easier. That's a good tip ;)
Glad it helped
Black on black and red trim in the engine bay really does look good... Great job guys!👍🏿💯
Thanks for the kind words
Great job fellas!
I always cut all those unnecessary tabs off beforehand. Why risk having to pull it back down to remove layer. Ask me how I know😂
Great point!

You two are the best pair of mechanics! God Bless!
I appreciate the blessing and thank you for the compliment.
Thanks!
No, thank you! We appreciate you watching the show.
@@AutoRestoMod Aw, "No Thank You" to what?

There'll be more to come on the on the 72 F100. Probably in middle to late June.
I am putting a 4r70w with a Holley. Controller in my 1970 mustang now as well, I am having fun with the shift linkage now
This coming week we are going to try using the shifter that is available from California Pony Parts we'll see how that goes LOL
Great video, looks almost identical to how I did my engine, bay, and spark plug wires.
Very cool!

Always great content. 5 star
Thanks so much

We will be covering shift linkage in a future episode.

Not absolutely sure but I believe that the V6 4R70W will bolt up to the 302
