- An Imminent Danger Warning has been issued Chiang Mai Flood Chiang Mai City, nestled along the banks of the Ping River, is particularly vulnerable to flooding during the monsoon season in Southeast Asia. The surrounding mountains and forests, which drain into the river, can cause the water level to surge significantly after heavy rainfall. This video provides a comprehensive overview of the current water levels at three key locations along the Ping River and highlights the Chiang Mai Flood Alert System situated at Nawarat Bridge in the city.

Great reporting Ally. Good to see you with some content again!
Hey, thanks very much Greg 🥳 Hope all is well in Seka 🙏❤️🇹🇭
Was in Chiang Rai few days ago, horrible to see what people had to go through. Hopefully people in Chiang Mai will be spared but currently am in Chiang Mai and it has been raining almost non-stop. Sadly I think it's inevitable.
My heart feels for the entire region, this weather system is set to brink more misery for many days to come ❤️
Great to see you back Ally. More when i watch your news
Thank you Peter, been kind of busy & happily distracted 🥳 Hope you are well 🙏❤️🇹🇭
Very informative! Much appreciated! 🙏
Thank you 🙏
Praying for God's mercy 🥺 😢
Good to see you back. Thanks for the update
Thanks 👍 Thank you for watching 🙏
Good luck with the lottery and with the flooding. I think you did a great job of explaining the flood situation Ally. The display of the water levels at different times is helpful.
Thank you so much Paul, the level is still rising at 4.53 @ 14:00 25 Sept. The flooding will be extensive 🥲
Thanks for this Ally. Quite a worrisome situation at the moment. Stay safe.
Hi Jamie, the region is suffering right now, some folks are experiencing tremendous loss and there is still more misery to come. Hope your family & friends are able to stay safe 🙏
Well done Ally! Great description of what's happening and why.
🙏 Thank you

Thanks for the update, missed your videos 👍
So nice of you, thank you 🙏❤️🇹🇭
Wish you luck Ally, hope you hit the jackpot! You have very well explained the water system in and around Chiang Mai. A good reporter was lost on you.
Have a nice day 👍
Thanks
Hoping the water subsides over the next few days, and all is well. Take care Ally, all the best🙏🙏
Thanks guys, no end in sight just yet 🤦♂️ This is set to last a while 🙏
4.45m at 5am this morning. Going to be an interesting drive to the airport in a bit for me!
Yes with P67 threatening too 🤦♂️ Safe journey Lewis 🥳❤️🇹🇭
@Great Reporting!
Thanks Michael 🙏
Great video and fantastic information.
Thank you for watching 🙏
We live about 200 meters east of the Ping River at about 35 seconds into your video by the diversion dam The area we live in used to be all rights patties. Some of those rice patties are flooding today because of the high water level. But. ours is not. My wife's father filled the patty in all the way up to the road level before they started building, which was a very, very good idea. Most other people in the area have not. Some of their properties are two or three meters below road level, and those are the properties that are flooding. We hope and pray for those people who are in the flood zones. I thank you for the history lesson. and the information on the current flood. I retired here two years ago. September 21st. As a matter of fact, and the river was flooding then.
Kh Da was right to fill in to raise the foundation ✅ Hope your friends & family are ok 🙏❤️🇹🇭
You're not far from our place, we are about 600 mtrs NE of the orange foot bridge. As soon as the sun rises I am going out to see if I can help with the sandbagging between our village and the Ping River.
@@Favemusic-mw4nli hope you were not affected too badly 🙏
Great situational views Ally. The location (in the early part) makes a lot of clarity for me, as it's frequently seen in your previous videos, and our favourite "viewing location" of the general health of the river.
🙏🙏
Hope you are high & dry, this could go on for a while yet 🙏
We're in a risky zone (Padad), so will have to be watchful over the next few hours and days.
Seriously risky!
Unimaginable amount of water this year. Predictable with the extreme heat experienced throughout the whole Asia region. We need to adapt quickly.
Exactly Lars, I totally agree ✅
Great infotainment Ally,you the Best😊
Glad you think so! 🥳🤣
The Ping River flooding is a lot worse this morning. It's probably the worst flooding since 2005. We live about 500 meters from the river, and about 2 km from the motorcycle bridge where this video starts. Our house is an island surrounded by a lake now, mainly orchards, and the soi is half flooded. We moved our cars to higher ground this morning. Hopefully the house won't flood because it was built elevated with the 2005 flood in mind, which inundated the area. A Myanmar refugee camp is next to us and it's been completely flooded since a couple of days ago. The Burmese there live in tin shacks that are all flooded. The camp was started in November 2022, a couple months after the last flood, which was caused mainly by a stopped up canal. This is the first time it's flooded since then.
Oh I am sorry to hear you are troubled by this. The natural elements must be respected and we cannot assume the situation will change in peoples favor. Hope you can recover any losses you sustain during this coming period 🙏
thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching! 🙏
Drone video of current flood conditions around town would help immensely! (We know you have one...)
And totally illegal 🤦♂️🤣🤣🤣
The drone is legal but the location is restricted and only legal with approval from gov for specific media use. Tourist do it… I do not ❤️
great video, thank you! We're planning a trip to Chiang Mai tomorrow, and staying within the old city. Would you suggest we keep our trip?
Hope you enjoy your visit. The river does not generally flood the city area within the moat.
@@GoodLifeinChiangMaiThailand Thank you for your response. Hope everyone stays safe!
Thank you 🙏
Thank you for this excellent report….happy to be a new subscriber……wishing you well
Thanks and welcome 🙏
Oh! My parents are headed to Chiangmai tomorrow! What is the current update, would you know?
The monsoon season occurs from late June through to late October. Lots of rain means local surface flooding and swollen rivers. Every 2-3 years the rivers flow over to low lying lands and this can happen in September. Chiang Mai province is huge and has many rivers joining the main north south river, Mae Ping, that passes through Chiang Mai city. The actual old city within the moat and possibly where you are asking about does not generally flood from the river but does experience standing water after heavy rain.
Thankyou for sharing, when will the rainstorm stop😢
A very poignant question ✅ Not for quite a while yet according to weather radars 😱🤦♂️
My heart goes out to all who are affected by the floods. The lottery, is drawn twice a month, yes?
Hello Fred, yes 1 & 16th of the month 🤞
Goodmorning, I see on the website that the waterlevel at P1 was rising till 4.90m. Thats very high.. but is seems to going down now. I live in 5km from the Ping river in Khanu Woralaksaburi and seen yesterday that the level also was going up.. thanks for the video, now I have any idea what is happening upstream.
Thank you for watching & I do hope you are not suffering from the flooding 🙏 Being informed is useful and interesting ❤️ There is more rain on the way, please take care 🙏❤️🇹🇭
I was at the same place on Tuesday, just went down there today, Thursday, and the water is over the deck of the orange footbridge now and the bridge is closed.
Yes this year is serious. More rain on the way, these conditions will persist for quite a while 🤦♂️❤️🇹🇭
ถ้าว่างๆรบกวนไปถ่ายภาพโดรนที่ดอยเต่าหน่อยครับ สวยดี
✅ Yes I will do, the day after the rain stop 🥳❤️
@@GoodLifeinChiangMaiThailand ขอบคุณครับ
Do floods like this happen regularly in Northern Thailanda / Chiang Mai?
The monsoon season occurs from late June through to late October. Lots of rain means local surface flooding and swollen rivers. @GoodLifeinChiangMaiThailand Thank you for the reply. I just realized Chiang Mai is both a city and a province.
@@chev6901 Thank you for confirming this. Just like TH-cam & therefore the vast majority of tourists visiting Thailand that are fed video content based on this, people rarely get to see the real Thai culture across the country, the real Chiang Mai & all it has to offer and visitors are funneled into a tourism industry that does not understand peoples real interests.
Thank you for this informative update 🙏, was just watching your video from one year ago when you uploaded this new one 😊
Awww thats synchronicity at work ✅🥳 Thank you for letting me know & taking the time to leave a comment 🙏❤️🇹🇭
Tried to drive on Charoenrat rd to market 2 hours ago . water 30-50 cm high. closed off
Stay safe 🙏
Driving there must be nerve racking.😮
Lapping at the foundations of my house on pa tan rd
Oh no, 4.5 at P1 and set to rise further in coming hours with heavy upstream flowing down into Chiang Mai this afternoon/ evening 🙏
ปีนี้น้ำมาเยอะมาก
Yes too much water for the river. My heart is with people and businesses 🥲❤️🇹🇭
A leper colony? Really? I'll have to go take a look at that. I've heard the term, but I never actually thought, yea they would have to live alone.
Hmmm
Easily accessible and very interesting place. Lots of history hidden by lack of appreciation by visitors to Chiang Mai. Pop in to the museum there, very welcoming people ❤️🙏🇹🇭
Is this every year or just now
The monsoon season or wet season is annual. The amount of rain that falls and therefore the height of the river(s) is always watched from September through until late November.
