It's always reminded me of an arcade rails shooter where since your controller is a gun, all problems in the game can be solved with it no matter how absurd the situation gets.
I have a friend that was in the para’s that had a Prince Albert and on a jump his parachute didn’t open and when he pulled his reserve shot it ripped it out 😂😂😂. 🇬🇧🙏🏻
As an old Scrum Half that has been known to have excellent 'slidability' when being Tossed that no one, even with paper smooth concrete under a 1/4" of beer slides that far in a random warehouse.
Eating carrots, drinking milk, (Bacon in Snatch) not smoking and insisting no one else around you does (Albert Diggs in Bird On A Wire). All the best characters, good or bad, have a little foible that makes them stand out.
Shoot Em Up, is a scream and I've never seen anyone else react to it. Good job. Do you know the movie, Super? It's a piss take of the superhero genre, more sort of, Kick Ass, than, the Marvel and DC, overblown bollocks. 'Super', a dark, funny, brilliant an overlooked semi masterpiece. Almost a stand alone for what it is.
The thing about it is that both this and Starship Troopers are meant to be satire. SEU is a satire of American action clichés and stereotypes, and also deliberately meant to be a silly Bugs Bunny cartoon (the director himself is quoted that this was the idea). You're not supposed to think it's for real. Starship Troopers, on the other hand, is a pretty vicious look at US nationalism and gung-ho war movies and how closely they often resemble the old Nazi propaganda. If you think it's just a B-movie, well, you may want to go watch Leni Riefenstahl's old Nazi propaganda movies (it's creepy as hell, but also very informative on propaganda) and then rewatch Starship Troopers. Shoot'Em Up is less seriously intended, but it's still a very meta (as in "thing that makes fun of the thing it is", not metal with an 'L') parody of all the stupid action movies produced in the US - they're all equally as stupid as this one, they just hide it a little better. The first Lethal Weapon is absolute nonsense, for example.
It was awful by design. It was supposed to be cartoonish(hence the loony tunes references) but it was a parody of ultra violent movies, it was very meta but it was alwys supposed to be a satire on the ultra violent movies of the time. If you watched it as an action movie and took it seriously you would not enjoy it. Just like if you watched black dynamite and thought it was serious you would not enjoy it but looking at it as a comedy vehicle it is a great movie
Awwww man. Y'all just spoiled yourselves. Y'all just hit the bar laughing with that head on collision scene. Ok how about that movie PCU and/or you tube movie short "the gunfighter" narrated by Nick Offerman?
Love this movie so much! Don’t see it on a lot of people’s watch lists, but it’s definitely worth it.
I haven't seen this movie in so long but it has never left my memory. It's such a fun ride of a movie with fantastic action and comedy.
My boyfriend just got me to watch this couple weeks ago and I loved it
This is an AWESOME but grossly underrated movie.
Shoot 'em up has all the gun fu scenes similar but different from the John Woo movies.
Really entertaining movie. I really enjoy how silly it is. Unabashedly basic. He can’t miss any shot. Awesome.
Soundtrack in this is just fantastic :D
Such a fun movie. Basically Looney Tunes.
TOTALLY! Cartoon violence from beginning to end

Never realized the added layer to the title Shoot 'em Up. With the baby farm having the one donor...
Do the mouse that roared!
Ah, Shoot Em Up, the violent Bugs vs Fudd movie.

Movies like this are hard to watch if you watch really good movies

Hmm, so Mayhaps 'Children of Men' someday?
He’s playing in the cleaner movie coming in 2025. He has played in a few movies since shoot em up. The children of men came before this one.

This movie really is terrible so realistic, like most action movies but even more overboard
If it’s mocking action movies then is an OK movie other than that it sucks
Oh Wow! It has been ages since I've watched this movie. I could never forget Shoot em up since ive first watched...
