This one always surprises me with how well it works. On one hand it's purely B-movie violence but with some great thematic creativity. But on the other hand, it's a great example of Terry Pratchett's 'old gods do new jobs' line that somehow never forgets it's a Christmas movie. And they blend together! Somehow, by the end of it, a little girl going "skullcrusher!" in the same way that another Christmas movie would have her say "Santa!" or "Rudolph!" makes perfect sense.
@@charlesharry7901 Definitely not, but you can't deny this level of graphic violence and gore owes more to that category than 'safer' options. (Plus, you know, the whole "Santa viciously murders a bunch of criminals who are robbing someone on Christmas Eve" elevator pitch.)
FYI- ST Nicholas, aka Santa Claus, was from Myra Turkey(when the area was a part of Greece). He was an early Christian bishop, know for secretly gift-giving and performing miracles. The church of ST Nicholas is still in Myra (a ruin now). I accidentally found it while driving back to my base while stationed in Turkey while in the USAF. Happy Holidays……
I’ve been sitting on this movie for so long. I saw you reacted to it so I decided to finally watch it. I just finished watching it. It was amazing. Brilliant writing. Had to come check this reaction out after watching it. ❤
If you want some Christmas Questionable recommendations, I have three to think of aside from Die Hard. Nightmare Before Christmas, Rise of the Guardians, and Batman Returns which some people consider a Christmas movie for the same reason Die Hard is because it takes place around Christmas Time.
There are many compounds like that in Greenwich CT. I live in Connecticut and cracked up when I saw this movie was set there. Judge Judy lived there for a while.
yea christmas hits a bit different when your 43 and never been in a relationship. cant even imagine what its like to have someone special to spend holidays with. i stopped going to holidays with the family like 8 years ago because it was just even more depressing seeing everyone partnered up and even the nieces and nephews starting their own families soon
ive always wondered if i had kids if i would want to let them believe in all the silly childhood stuff. santa is magical so robbing them of the fun of that fantasy for the early part of their life might suck but at the same time i kinda hate that we all grow up with our parents lying to us about all thse imaginary beings. like how do we ever trust adults after a childhood based on lies? lol
Childhood should be the time for magic, excitement, and fantasy. You have the whole rest of your adulthood to be jaded, bored, and miserable. I don't know if there's any science or studies behind it, but I would wager that the kids who believed in magical things were more likely to be creative than the kids who did not.
Christmas is norse , it comes from people celebrating the winter solstice with fights and alchohol in norway which is close to the equator. Christians adopted the holiday and called it Christmas. The reindeer are female, cause male reindeer loose there antlers in the winter .
yea thats when they write something symbolic on paper but done consider the scene lol. sure the fires around us are going out..... except the actual burning structure.. and money would burn for what? 1 minute tops?
This was a good movie. And once I realized Grandma was Beverly D'Angelo? Chef's kiss!
This movie was way better than i thought it it would be.
Can't wait for the sequel
Santa's tats are mostly knotwork, which is a style popular among both Celtic and Germanic cultures.
This and bad Santa are my favorite Christmas movies

Connecticut baby.... #4 state in terms of income inequality.
@ Oh for sure. Surprised we aren’t number 1. Greenwich and the surrounding towns are very different from my little city.
This movie surprised me with how good it is.
Wow. Everybody positive review two year ago about this
This Red Guardian Christmas, may your candy canes be on point and your hammer well balanced. 😅
This Santa should be in Morta Kombat.
He'd look awesome with all the thor looking tattoos
@palmeristo yup, it's interesting that he mentioned he was a viking before becoming Santa.
Where is he ment to be at the beggining
Someone got tired of all the debating and just made Die Hard a full-on Christmas movie... And I love it!
