Took bc this year as a junior, absolutely one of my favorite classes I’ve taken, it really opens up math and shows you just what you can do with numbers, excited for calc three and linear algebra for senior year

But my high school offers summer classes to get ahead, and right now I'm taking Linear Algebra and Group Theory before my senior yr and bro..... Linear Algebra is light... GROUP THEORY OMG I never hated a math class until this point. Anyway, looking forward to Calc 3

I’m also trying to do some other AP classes our school doesn’t offer like AP Physics, so I have a feeling the counselors might hate me soon. (They have a record for not liking students who overachieve. It means more work for them.)

I had to be in class at 6:55 in the morning many mornings for Calc BC my Junior year I got a 5, took the equivalent of Calc 3 senior year, and soon i'm going to be testing out of Calc 3 with the knowledge I have from that class, so it was worth it
Yea at my school AB was required before BC, as someone who isn’t planning on studying stem that didn’t bother me. Most kids find calc AB to be easier than classes like Apush or AP lit. Personally I found Apush to be extremely easy and calc to be hard and my scores show it. So if you’re not a stem kid like me take AB because colleges probably won’t even make you take Calc 2 if you’re going to be a liberal arts major. For AP kids who aren’t as interested in stem I think Stats can be a good choice. That said, teachers can also make or break an AP class so that’s also something to take into consideration.
I just finished Honors Pre-Calc over the summer this past Wednesday so I can take BC this coming year (11th grade). Our school got rid of Honors in person, and replaced it with AP, so either you take AP or regular. Didn't qualify for AP since I didn't take Honors Algebra II, so I took Honors Pre-Calc to give me the same result. I've already looked into some concepts from the first few units of BC so I'm feeling good about taking it when school starts back in a few weeks!

My school doesn't require Calc AB before Calc BC. Though I didn't activate my Asian genes correctly back then so I missed out on the Calc BC chance. Since I didn't take Pre Calc Honors (I took ACC instead), I can only take Calc AB for senior year. It's not the end of the world though, I enjoy math and look forward to a good year of Calc AB. I'm also excited to create that Calc AB project at the end of the year where you create a music video or movie based on the Calc AB curriculum. I think I've gotten a jump start anyways considering a wise Indian friend once told me, "just study the curriculum on Khan Academy over the summer". It's working like a charm! I've studied about 5-6 units out of the 8 in the Calc AB curriculum on Khan Academy within just a month (at the time of commenting this). PS (1): When you reply to my comments, I have no idea which one of you is actually replying. Not to beg, but it'd be nice to know which one of you Mr. AP's respond haha! PS (2): I did mention a video or short about your AP CSP Create Task. As a TH-camr myself, I understand it might be a bunch of work just to upload one video/short because someone requested it. As someone who took AP Calc BC in their junior year (I'm taking Multvariable now), as long as you do the practice, you should be fine. I wouldn't say it's easy, far from it, but it's definitely not as intimidating as many people think. Now, of course, this also depends on the teacher. I was fortunate enough to have an absolutely goated teacher who would make sure that everyone understood the content. I also have her for multi this year and she's still just as good.
Not sure if I’m interested in chem engineering degree later on but currently am a sophomore … plan on AP calculus AB in junior year … but now re thinking .
At my school, you take one or the other. If you take BC, you take one trimester of Math Analysis (Calc 1 basically) the previous year. Then sr year, you take AP Stats
i really wish they also had a ap calc 3 or something like that. im stuck doing ap stats (i took calc bc as a junior and now im a senior) and not higher level math because calc 3 at our high school doesn't even give any college credit (unless we take some weird placement exam at our local community college, but there is no guarantee any other school will even take that credit)

The more I look the more I realize that so many schools require people to take AB before BC. Our school doesn’t, but you do have to take a “trig/Calculus A” class prior. Basically they eliminate the fast-paced aspect altogether by teaching you a third of the content before you’re allowed to take the class, then breeze through the first 5 units in a month before slowing down for the rest

I'm from central Asia. We don't have AP classes at school but we have AP exam center in our country. We have a few online AP courses from people in our country that study in the US colleges. If I will take those online AP courses, I am sure I'll still do self studying a lot to achieve high scores. I'm planning to take 4 APs next year and get 5: stats, physics 1, Calc BC and Computer science principles. I'll basically use online sourses on the internet and Barron's books. I'll be preparing in 6 months duration for 15 hours per week. Please consider that I'm non native speaker and don't have any foundation in all of these APs Could you tell me how realistic my goal is? Is it doable for me to get 5 in these 4 exams? If it is yes I would really appreciate your advice on how to succeed in them. If it's no then I'll try Calc AB and probably cancel the plan for physics 1 preparation because it's so hard and I have no any background knowledge in it. The season that I decided to take Calc BC and Physics 1 is that I have seen people in my country achieving 5 in both of them in 6-7 month preparation. Anyway, I'm confused. I would appreciate your advice and thanks for an insightful video!
I thing if you have a somewhat strong foundation of the English language, you should be fine. All of those are STEM classes that want you to approach problems from numerical and formula-like perspective, so you should be fine
If you really want to do BC, you should consult your counselor, the BC teacher, and also the AP director at your school, if there’s somebody in that sort of role. Consult whoever you need who has the ability to let you into BC, and if they reject you, ask for whoever’s higher than them. I know it was a struggle for me to be able to get the classes from my counselor. If you’ve had good grades in the past, you might be able to convince them that you have the capability to jump AB. Maybe show them the list of units for AB vs BC, and how BC is only 2 units longer than AB’s 8 units. In my experience, BC is not really much harder, because the polar/parametric unit should feel almost obvious after all of the previous 8 units (it’s just some more application of already-known derivative and integration techniques), and the series unit, while different and seemingly unrelated, is not substantial enough to where it feels like a whole extra course curriculum added to AB. I think there’s just some kind of stigma around BC, like a fear of the unknown, but when you get up to it, it’s not much harder than AB. However, if they still reject you, you could possibly take the AB class but sign up for the BC exam at your school, and if they don’t allow that, decline the exam at your school and sign up for BC exam at another school. That last part is just an idea, because I don’t know if that would actually work, but it’s an idea. All in all, if you feel prepared for BC, do you what you must to get in. TL;DR: You can contest your counselors and show grade history. BC is not that much harder. And feel free to ask me whatever you need. P.S. I passed the most recent BC exam with a 5, so I’m not a bum of a source. I did self-study, though, so while I do have a perspective on the difference between AB and BC content difficulty, I don’t know how that might manifest in the form of extra homework or harder tests your teacher might give. But I doubt BC would have significantly more assignments or workload.

If you’re okay at math, take bc. If you really struggle with math, just take AB. You’ll benefit more from a slower paced class.

@@Burrito_Boy1def easiest AP ever made 😅 not a useful one tho imo. I took it this year, and my teacher was so stressed trying to figure out how to teach the CED that we didn’t even get to the “optional” unit that actually has a lot of stuff that you need to know for AP Calc.
@@Keyxn oh i see we sped through units 1 and 2 pretty quickly since the majority of it was already familiar and had enough time to finish the entire course. definitely not a useful AP though if you're going to take AP calc AB or BC anyways.
