Congratulations! GT is a fantastic school and was my dream school. I was rejected instate with a 4.31W GPA, 1560 SAT Score, and NASA OSTEM internship. You should feel proud. Don’t worry I’m at UGA right now enjoying life! 🎉

Coming from a Latin student: The thing about AP Latin is that it's another AP language course and it accurately resembles a real college Latin course. The idea that AP Latin should be discontinued or changed because it doesn't have widely applicable uses is no more valid than saying AP Music Theory (for example) should be discontinued-- yes, their content is not very useful for day-to-day applications or applicable to college in most senses, they're not meant to teach you the most common applications of their subject. They're meant to emulate a college course in the subject and provide an academic study of it. AP Latin also functions as a high-level language course just like AP Spanish or AP French, so most students taking AP Latin already know the practical uses of Latin from previous years' study. AP language courses are not introductions to the language-- every one of them assumes you have studied the language for no less than two years, so nobody is able to just choose, on a whim, to take AP Spanish instead of AP Latin as an elective one year or something. AP Latin is an introductory course in Latin literature and academics surrounding it. As for the point that time in AP Latin could be better spent on a more applicable course such as AP Spanish or AP Chinese, while that could be true, I can't imagine any high school student who is eligible for AP Latin choosing to switch to a Chinese course of study-- there would be no point in it. And while it may be "smarter," as you put it, to study a modern language, that's more of a comment on language education in general, not AP courses, and is immaterial. Sorry if this rant is completely unstructured and incoherent, it's past midnight and I'm not taking the effort to edit this 😭

4:11 no that's a good ass class, im taking it rn as a sophomore in high school, and ngl that course helped me write a lot better in Spanish and also speak and comprehend the text. AP spanish Lang is just a snippet, while Lit being much harder even for Spanish speaking ppl it even helps my English compression and literary skills. Also the class is a lot more fun than Lang, AP Spanish Lang is very boring talking about the most broad topics ever, and im majoring in architecture im not biased It really helps a lot, trust. More ppl at my school are finally taking that class, rn we are reading poems and understanding the history and context plus the literary devices, AP themes very complex which helps even for AP English Lang and Lit to become a better writer. Yes it is a lot harder than AP spanish lang but definitely more interesting and by far the Spanish class that has made me better at not just speaking it, bc that's Lang, but understanding it and interpreting it. Give it a shot

Yooo dude there’s no way😂 I got a 1520 on my SAT, my school uses a 100 GPA scale w/ 95 GPA UW, 13 APs, and similar ECs (u had a little more than I did but I also had art stuff) and I got deferred from GT (applied chemical engineering too). I mean I’m all good cus I got into UGA and it’s honors college so. (And I never really wanted to do chem eng anyways) Amazing job to you and I’m very surprised to see how similar this was to me😂 👏

Did really good on Pre Calc 12 with a 98 but ultimately im doing AP Calc AB instead of BC. Why? BC takes up half of my day at school which sucks while AB is only one block. Also I don't think I can handle BC's very fast pace even though I'm pretty good at math. currently im doing pretty good in AB, got a 92 on applications on derivatives test without scaling just this month :D hopefully integration doesnt kill me....

Congrats on the acceptances! I was wondering if you perhaps tell me if i am on the right track to a school such as Cornell? I have pretty similar EC's like you and did pre college programs with notre dame, was a leadership position in a police cadet training program, a vice president of a club with 50+ members. I have a 4.4 Weighted GPA. I took two AP's (AP CSP and AP World) and got 5's on both. I also got a 1350 score on my PSAT. Thanks.
