A long weekend, a hurried up plan and an exciting ride - that’s how I would summarise my recent trip to Chitkul, India’s last inhabited village before the border with China in Himachal Pradesh.
With my Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 still being customized, I decided to take my most recent acquisition - the Triumph Street Twin 900 - on the trip. A simple parallel twin engine with loads of low-down and mid-range torque, the bike pulled along the 11,000 feet high altitude with ease.
But this video is not about how the Street Twin fared in the hills. That will be a separate stand-alone video in a series of chunks I will take out from a two-hour recording on my GoPro.
Through this video, I attempt to compare the Triumph Street Twin with the Royal Enfield Interceptor when it comes to touring in India.
I believe I am one of the very few people out there who happen to own an Interceptor 650 along with a Street Twin. That puts me in a comfortable position to bring to you my unbiased thoughts on both the bikes, since there cannot be a fanboy moment here.
I am not an automobile reviewer, far from it. I am just a regular rider like any one of you.
I hope you enjoyed this video; any comments and feedback will be appreciated and I look forward to a healthy discussion in the comments below.

When you were describing the Street Twin as understated but brilliant machine, I can honestly compare that to what you do in your videos. No nonsense, precise, concise, absolutely on point.
I appreciate your work, as it provides a ton of information & does not waste the viewer’s time.

@@abhinavbhatt Great stuff as always Abhinav. Street twin's on my radar too - the ground clearance has been made out to be a big issue on forums and stuff - what's your take? Mostly city/country road use, occasional touring, not much off roading unless I come across some rough patches on rides to Kodaikanal etc. How much of a deal-breaker is it? I know you touch on that in the video but was wondering if you could throw some more light :) cheers

Street twin is always better than interceptor 650 in terms of built quality and handling. It does not have problems like foot peg issues (that always hits the shin area), bad ergonomics (weight mgmt) in interceptor and those non-alloy wheels. It has been 2 years ever since RE has not made mind to launch alloy wheels as an accessory at least, although the website says that alloys are COMING SOON…idiotic RE.

Also, I’d like my bike to be a head turner if I’m shelling out Rs 9 Lac on it. Unfortunately, looks of Street Twin don’t standout to justify its price tag and it is hard to get convinced ( and convince others ) that I paid as much as I did for this bike.
