Nice! Hey, if you like ska, have you checked out The English Beat? Their first album came out in 1980 and it's amazing. It's called I Just Can't Stop It. The whole album is great, but I think you might particularly like Mirror In The Bathroom, Two Swords, Tears Of A Clown, Best Friend, and a duo of songs called Whine & Grine/Stand Down Margaret. Stand Down Margaret is a great song critiquing Margaret Thatcher. The English Beat (or The Beat as they're known in the UK) were such a great group, with a very cool postpunk/ska sound. Dave Wakeling on lead vocals, and the late Ranking Roger on backup/percussion. With saxophone by the legendary (late) Saxa! Highly recco'd.
Pauline Black is incredible! She never stopped and is still going strong today performing all over. Sadly the male vocalist Gaps Hendrickson passed last year. Their first album got all the attention but their second album “Celebrate the Bullet” is a masterpiece, one of my all time faves. It was a commercial dud but is artistically amazing. It’s a much darker album, I call it “doom ska” lol.
Members of The Bodysnatchers and The Specials (post-Terry Hall) teamed up to record various tracks under the name of The Special AKA. One of these tracks was the notorious single 'The Boiler', which reached the UK Top 40 in 1982 despite having no radio airplay (understandable when you hear it).
Walking in the Sunshine- Bad Manners ❤

Special Beat Service was also a great album, songs like Save it for Later, I Confess, Sole Salvation, End of the Party .....
@@malcolmpayne8211 Fantastic album!! I love those songs. Been playing End of the Party a lot lately.
@@sarahbeach4849 Yes, beautiful sax solo by Saxa.
'Missing Words' is another good one by them. They did a great instrumental - also called 'The Selecter' - as well. (It was a b-side, I think.)
Yeah - love that track too.
Also try ‘stupid marriage’ by The Specials
@NeilMcCarthy-l5j Thanks for the recommendation. Good song. I love 'Friday Night, Saturday Morning' by them as well.

You should check out missing words by the same band
celebrate the bullet is a great one by them....also Bomb Scare, very 80s English experience
Three Minute Hero is my favourite from The Selecter.
Very good gig here if you want to hear more from them.

Good one Nick. Have you done anything by the Specials?
I've done a couple, but I need to do more!
Suggestion for a reaction to Pass the Dutchie by Musical Youth, absolute 80’s classic.
I could have sworn this was late 1979 rather than 1980. Oh well...
The Selector are still playing. You should try The Bodysnatchers next.

@@jonathancole833I was thinking Do Rocksteady.
@@bigwave25 Yes, probably a better idea!
Brilliant, superb, really great band live too. 👍
Pauline Black has managed to have an entire career based on three mediocre hits, a lifetime ago.
Lmao
