    Man, this is completely excellent! Lately, I've been wondering how Marksman attaches their pouches to their tapered bands, and here you show it clearly. Wish you'd make a vid on exactly how to modify the split-ring pliers, too. Many thanks.

    interesting methods after the first setup with constrictors. your vid are super informative... thank you!
    After I shot out my dead ringer bb flat band set I made a set of pseudo tapers (didn't know I made that type of band set until I watched your vid).
    I used the light amber tubes with left over tbg strips for both fork end and pouch..... I must have 500-800 shots through that setup with no sign of it giving up. might be more shots than that since I like to drink the beers while bb Shooting the cans😋.
    anyway I like your light amber tubing with full butterfly setup pseudo tapers tbg ties... seemed to out last the flat band tied with string by like five to one. also they shoot acorns at just the right speed to get a nice thwack without too much loss in accuracy.

    I actually just made a "pseudo-taper" that seems to work pretty good. I used 10mm tubing and inserted 5mm tubing into it. You can do this by putting a bearing or a bb inside the 5mm tubing and then inserting it into the 10mm tubing, finally securing it at the junction. You can also just punch holes through the 10mm and tie the 5mm around it like you would a pouch.
    I was originally just trying to salvage an old band (it had tears) and did it this way to lengthen it a bit... I found the result quite satisfying. It punches through soda cans with ease. It can also puncture corned-beef/spam cans with the right ammo.

      +SimpleShot Shooting Sports Thank you! I live in the Philippines and havent really found luck in getting tubing/ bands from the stores (everything from junkshops to pharmacies and sports) in my area.. Ive ordered tubing online from abroad, but as you can imagine, thats taking quite long. So Ive just been reusing as much as I can from whatever I can find.
      I only got into slingshots about two weeks ago, after finding an old slingshot. Your channel is by far, my favorite, and I would say the most professional and comprehensive. Hats off to you, pal!

    When I tie the loops, they begin to tighten and shrink when the bands are drawn. How can I remedy this? Thanks!

  • @nostalgiaholic777
    @nostalgiaholic777 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    When you making these loops before you draw it , Hold down before the ties about 1/4" and stretch the bands Pull ALOT! 4-5 times this will help band last longer ! same thing on pouch sides hold after ties and pull :)

    When I tried the cuff method that was shown at the end of the video, it didn't work for me (with 1745 tubes)-- the cuff would slide when a draw was made. I considered anchoring the cuff better with a constrictor knot, but past experience for me gave poor lifetimes (for breaking at the cuff). So I tried using a generic version of Krazy glue to glue the cuff in place. This worked great. I'm now at 385 shots with no sign of wear and the cuffs have not shifted (the stretch factor used for the single tube section was 5.0). I'm getting bored with this life test so I'll probably stop counting shots since the lifetime is already more than adequate.

    Does it help if you put a smaller dia. Tube inside the larger one?

    • @simpleshot
      @simpleshot  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that can help protect if you tie tubes onto your frame.

    You mention string is the shortest lasting way to tie bands yet all the commercial band sets yu sell are tied with string....Hmmm

    • @simpleshot
      @simpleshot  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good observation, but here's some clarification.
      What Nathan was referring to is using string fo the Pseudo-Taper. String is excellent for tying pouches, which is what we do for all our bandsets. But at 3:42 he's talking about tying the loop in the band.
      But it is the easiest - with shortest lifespan - for the pseudo taper.
      We actually don't sell pseudo-tapered bandsets at all at simple-shot.com at all. If we did, we would use a latex loop since we ONLY sell the best products we can access on simple-shot.com. Nathan personally uses everything we sell how we sell it (and he's the 4-time ECST winner and just took #9 in the world).
