Wow, that was quite a change. Congrats on the 500 subs, well deserved!
Now, a question about oils. Is there a difference between oils marked for diesels and those without. Should I be getting a diesel specific oil for the 4JX1?

I would imagine that it is something to do with catalytic converters and the DPF but I'll look into it.

From what I can find, it appears that using Gasoline Engine Oil has the wrong additives for the increased friction and cleaning (detergent) requirements of a diesel engine. It appears that you can use diesel oil in a petrol engine but not the other way around.

In Adelaide winter I use any on special 5 ltr 10 or 15w/40 and change every 5000, both filters every 10,000.
In summer, any on special 5 ltr 20w50 or 25w60 and change every 5000 both filters every 10,000.
5 litres only comes up to ADD mark on stick.
Have had my 4JX1 since new 2000 now 380kms.

Why do you think you know better than Isuzu themselves?

@@thejackaroo4WDcampingchannel Original owner since new Oct 2000.
Isuzu says do valve clearance every 40k that was 340k/22 years ago.
Engine STILL cranks evenly, good compression, good power, good economy 11L/100.
Isuzu say change secondary eng filter every 20k and main 10k, I do both every 10k.
Isuzu say change oil every 10k/6 months, I do mine every 5k/3 months.
5 litres of ON SPECIAL oil V 7 lt expensive oil every 10, I'll stick with 5 k change :)
No eng warning lights, good oil pressure, easy starts cold or hot - even with glow plugs disconnected since new.
Isuzu say change coolant 50/50 every 40k ? and use pressure cap, I use pure 100% concentrated coolant change every 5-7 years and vented unpressurized cap since new - all ORIGINAL hoses & original radiators with no leaks or loss of coolant.
40 degree stop/start traffic - temp STAYS at approx 1/3.
REPAIRS since new besides regular maintenance :-
Transmission rebuild approx 120k/2004 following long heavy open road tow in o/drive.
Injector & sleeve seals - twice by myself
Injector loom & rail pressure sensor - twice by myself.
Throttle position sensor - twice by myself.
RPCV strip & clean - twice by myself.
Brake pads front & rear 3x by myself since new.
New CHINESE turbo 370k by myself - approx $200 ebay plus 2 hours work :)
SO FAR car is unmodified, original, reliable, one owner, daily driver & continuing.
Must just be luck rather than judgement :)

@@thejackaroo4WDcampingchannel No joking, every 5k I use ANY 5lt on special 10or15w40 in winter and 20or25w50or60 in summer
Had car since new Oct 2000, oil comes out clean, starts easily and always good oil pressure even when idling hot in summer, NO JOKING :)

@@thejackaroo4WDcampingchannel For my next oil change I will be using 5w40 as that is what I have, I was admonished quite severely on a certain 4jx1 f/book page just for asking if I could use 10w40 that the parts supplier gave me. I was new to the 4jx1 community and didn't need to be talked to like that.
