I know a great character is a character who goes through a change arc; whether positive or negative. My main character on the other hand, he won't have a change arc. He will have a flat arc, he won't change.
Would that be an issue? Could the main character still be great without undergoing a change arc? Or a change in his beliefs, his lifestyle, overall for a character development is needed?
Thanks for the video btw! It was helpful to listen to it! (Sorry for my english)

The flat arc is definitely different from the positive arc. Instead of the character growing and changing from beginning to end, the Character starts out already knowing the profound truths about the world he or she is in, and the story is more about how the character changes the world around them. The character starts out already knowing something or having a profound truth that is applied to situations around the character. This can be done quite effectively. You want to make sure there is a change in the environment, situation, or world the character lives in. One example of a flat arc character is in the movie, True Grit. A classic and also one of my all-time favorite movies! The character of Maddie is a good example of a flat character arc. She doesn't change, but she brings change to the world and the characters around her!
