Someone else said it best below. South Korea, while an advanced nation, seems to have these mass casualty disasters every few years. Sewol ferry (hundreds of children drowned), Itaewon Crowed Crush (hundreds of revelers crushed in an alleyway), Jeju crash (all but 2 perished). And those are only the recent ones, there have been others in decades past. RIP to the passengers.
Korea Air in 1997 had a similar tragedy which had well over 200 passengers. Also Asiana Airlines SFO landing was tragic as well. There seems to be too high of an occurrence for this to be a random chance of bad luck....or maybe the Media in other countries are just less vocal. I do not know. Malcolm Gladwell once made a comment about his belief about the human errors in these tragedies. Of course there are multiple factors at play (speed, not enough time spent going down emergency protocols, Hydraulics, was the wrong Engine turned off, Bird Strike, etc) and as such it can't be blamed on solely the wall or the pilot. So many variables to consider
They may have advanced themselves since the koeran war like a miracle and became a powerhouse when it comes to the economy, but that same economy makes the country incredibly corrupt. The gov for example literally are the slaves for the chaebols, such as Samsung, which makes according to data almost 50% of the GDP of the country.
Or the cockpit crew landing the aircraft in the opposite direction of instructions, or the cockpit crew failing to use air braking measures to slow the plane, or the cockpit crew failing to deploy the landing gear then brake. An aviation expert was explaining these walls aren’t uncommon, but they’re often made in a material that disintegrates upon impact-he said he suspected such an accident would be unlikely in the US for example, because they use a sort of hollow concrete. That plane landed. It was that concrete wall that took their lives. It should of not been there. Built that way so close to the runway. That must be investigated!!

While everyone is thinking about bird strikes and the pilot, the one thing you have to ask is why was there a concrete structure that close to the landing strip?
I'm guessing the pilots made a bad decision with the situation. Probably they panicked with 1 engine broken down and they hurried to descend or pressed a wrong button that made the situation worse. Bird strike was on both engines. As you can see in other videos, both engines have smoke puffs. When the captain announced Maydays 3 times it meant major emergencies, not just a bird strike. They had to land the plane ASAP and with power lost on both engines, they had to glide down with no landing gears. All steps were executed perfectly in these emergencies. This was not a pilot's error; this was the architect's error in building concrete barriers on the runway.
You are wrong, I have watched so many videos of LICENSED PILOTS analyzing the aircraft on air and on the ground, one engine was still working even after landing because of the exhaustion, planes are resilient for bird strikes and smelling a smoke is possible as the bird burns through the engine.. On the video where a puff was shown from the engines, they were so close to landing but the question, there was no landing gear out where they actually could have… what the media broadcasts here is political and business wise, so many things behind the picture and that wall.. the airport, the pilot and the aircraft is very important in this tragic accident
Imagine the initial “relieve” the passengers onboard might have felt when the plane was on level ground ONLY for it to explode momentarily from an impact with the reinforced CONCRETE wall they didn’t know the aircraft was heading towards… It was an unfortunate chain of events that lead to this tragedy. HOWEVER, the reinforced CONCRETE WALL was the the DEFINING reason why these passengers are dead! Somebody High up there in the management hierarchy was probably trying to scrimp on money instead of evaluting the overall safety of crucial Airport infrastructures.
This is devastating... So many questions, yet at least three should be answered: 1. What caused the malfunction in the airplane? No bird versions are acceptable. Boeing has a terrible record, that even the USA's legislators brought them to court in mid 2024. 2. Why was the pilot allowed to make a U-turn against the air flow, and most important, straight into the security concrete wall? 3. The concrete wall was proven to be fatal, so, why did the airport controller didn't prevent the pilot from going straight into it? May God bless the souls of the victims, and bring comfort, as well as answers to their families.
According to early reports, the ATC told the pilot instructions which, if followed, would have had the aircraft landing the opposite direction. It's like the bird strike was inside the heads of the cockpit crew. They did multiple things wrong.

Sad
Send the black boxes to the usa they are more up in these things
USA government send tó Korea an investigation group
Its already a joint investigation with NTSB and Boeing. 🙄
Somente alguns passaros causariam um desastre dessa gravidade? Precisa investigar muito bem.
we are so fool . regret after accident.
Terrible plane engineering design if a bird strike can disable the landing gear, speed flaps and throttle control entirely......
Maybe its time to stop replying that landing and crashing clip it has been nonstop replying and its not that pleasant to anyone let alone those families and friends.
Our condolences to the birds being framed
Idiot!!!
🙏🙏🙏❤️
Brug😢
Because airport control told pilots its safe to land.. maybe pilot not even clearly aware of the wall and how much clearance needed..
They shouldn't need bird teams put scsrecrows out , recordings of bird distress calls, one person on duty st sirport not on csll during day should be able to stop birds thats a job someone young eith no job out there could do
They have someone at Heathrow in London, England who scares away birds.
😢😢😢😢😢
It shows that smal birds are far more mightier than a gigantic plane....Hmmmmmmm
birds have been a problem in aviation for many years almost all airports have cannons that scare off the birds if you think they aren't a problem. do some research.
Lol... Birds are just a small issue, more on the incompetency of those pilots, why they turned off the wrong engine or why they did a go-around.
@@Iluvyurmum yes I know. the op is a re tard.
its shows that humans are nothing more than the living beings just like others living being on this planet earth.
@@bobafett5757 this airport has the largest migratory birds in entire Korean airports
Why was it allowed to be open?
Profit!!

What the wall at runway end it's weird.
As seen, there is a grille fence around the airport? If the wall is not there, the plane can run into the fence and softly stop without huge damage and everyone would have survived?
Sorry people, not just the concrete wall, but pilot error too..
