My only two suggestions to you are to slow down your speech and enable subtitles for your videos. Hi Cee. For the ICD-10-CM, it's fine to buy a used book 2020 version; however, for the CPT book, I recommend you purchase the new 2021 version because it will last at least for two years while you are preparing for the CPC exam. I hope it helps.
Glad I found YOU! Thank You, I do I have a question. On the SIDS case why wouldn't we use the critical care code? If it say ED, would we Always use the ED code even if the patient was critical? Hi Diane, 99291 and 99292 are time based codes which means that the physician has to document the total time that he or she spends exclusively for that patient only. Without the time component, we can not use these codes even the patient is in critical condition. As a result, you could only assign the ED level 5 (99285). It's compliance issue so be careful when you assign 99291 without the time component. I hope it helps.

Hi Cee. For the ICD-10-CM, it's fine to buy a used book 2020 version; however, for the CPT book, I recommend you purchase the new 2021 version because it will last at least for two years while you are preparing for the CPC exam. I hope it helps.

I also thought this would be critical care considering CPR and emergency intubation was done.
Hi Diane, 99291 and 99292 are time based codes which means that the physician has to document the total time that he or she spends exclusively for that patient only. Without the time component, we can not use these codes even the patient is in critical condition. As a result, you could only assign the ED level 5 (99285). It's compliance issue so be careful when you assign 99291 without the time component. I hope it helps.
