Hi Dr. Yasir. I am sharing my tips and strategies in the CPC exam prep video series using case studies and questions so I don't have a separate video for just tips and tricks. If you watch my videos and understand my approach to tackling cases then you should be fine. If you have time now, read the coding guidelines so that you will remember the code sequencing, in other words, the first code listed or principal diagnosis. This video was great…I am noticing that the CPC exam are using the anesthesia modifiers AA, QX and so on…could you do a video that explains how to use those modifiers correctly
I have yet to take the exam. I will this Saturday. Anesthesia SOUNDS intimidating. But, I did decently on the chapter tests, when taking AAPC, with anesthesia questions. I'm good at math, so calculating anesthesia time, and picking the right modifiers, seemed to help. Does anybody else feel the same way about the anesthesia chapter and questions?
Good afternoon, these videos are FANTASTIC! Can you provide the name of the videos for ICD-10-CM, and Coding Guidelines? I cannot find them in this years video list. Kind Regards
Hi Mahaonejf. If you watch all my videos: coding diabetes, anemia coding, adverse effect vs poisoning, coding neoplasms etc. Those videos are for the coding guidelines. I hope it helps.
@@codingwithhoang Ok, great. I was following along on your page where you highlight all of the videos you have done, and thought there was one specifically for all of them. Thank you again. I'm taking the CPC Exam on Sunday, so "fingers crossed". Jamie
Hi I just started watching your videos to prep and take the CPC exam however I am not sure which video I should start with? Which one do you recommend I start with?
Hi Veronica. If you already know coding or took coding course somewhere then you should start with the video playlist "CPC exam prep" first then watch the rest of them after that. If you are new to coding then you should start with the introduction to ICD-10 -CM and introduction to CPT videos first. After you know the format of the books and steps how to look up the code then you can watch all of them except the "root operation" videos. They are for inpatient coders and CCS exam prep.
Hello Mr.Hoang your way of tackling questions helps me a lot and while solving Anesthesia questions I'm little confuse to remember abdominal-pelvic parts to remember in a easy way... can you please explain what are the organs that located based on (Extra peritoneal,Intra peritoneal),(upper posterior and upper anterior),(lower posterior and lower anterior) for abdomen!!
Hi Manasa. You first need to know the medical terms: anterior (front) vs posterior (back); upper (above) vs lower (below); intra(within) vs extra(outside); and know the 4 quadrants of the abdomen then should be all set. I hope it helps
Hi ,how are you doing !? Your videos are really helpfull Thank you so much for making things easy for us . There is one request please make a video on modifier 26 My exam is soon .. please upload a video on modifier 26 Thanks and great regards
I can't make a video on just modifier 26 but for all modifiers and it's not the time for me a video for modifiers now. I am still working on the CPC exam prep series as planned. Here is what you need to know about using modifier 26: there are certain procedures that need to use the machines for example ultrasound, fluoroscopy, echocardiogram, etc , therefore, there are two components: first a technical component that refers to the facility who owns the machine which is the hospital and second, the professional component which refers to the physician who doesn't own the machine so his service is only to review and interpret the results or findings. That said, when you report the procedure code for the physician, you have to use modifier 26 to indicate that he only gets paid for interpreting the findings and the hospital will receive the reimbursement for the cost of using the machine. I hope it helps.
Thank you. The last case code 01990: brain dead etc, needs a modifier???? is already in the description "brain dead", Do you have to add "P6" modifier?
Good day sir, thanks for all your videos, sir, I want to refer you to case no 5, regarding burn debridement, 01951 is the parent code which carried the full explanation of the procedure before the semicolon, and 01952 is an indented code of the parent code, 01953 is an add on code, is it possible to code add on code with an indented code? I think the code suppose to go with the primary code in which 15% burn as be sustained, which suppose to be ( 01951,01953)
Hi Rasheed. The add on code needs to be reported with its primary code; on the other hand, the indented code does NOT. The indented code is a stand-alone code, the reason they intend the code simply because they want to save some space and that is why the indented code includes all the information from the code about except the portion that they are different. Please open your CPT book and look up other intended codes and see it for yourself. I hope it helps.
Hi! I am still confused regarding the case 5 answer. I got it right but it was an educated guess. Are you able to code 01952 and 01953 by assuming the 6% in the first code and additional amount with the second code?
