    @wtr7 I've been carrying the True Utility Telepen on my keychain for the past month. It's worked out fairly well, although it doesn't fit in the business card case. I'm glad you enjoy my approach to this topic.

    Thanks for the reminder. I've added it to my TH-cam "To Do" notebook. It's so cool that people are still interested in this ultra thin tin.

    I've been looking into doing a v2 for this slim version. I have been carrying the Altoids tin the majority of the time lately, although it would be nice to do an update. I'll work on it for 2013.

    @Mikemaladar I am working on a PDF on ALL of the items included in my BOB. I should hopefully have a 1st draft finished in a few weeks. Do you think it should just include the items or also the place to purchase them too?

    @gabyro770 I'm glad that you are enjoying my videos and finding them useful! I would love to see your Caribbean BOB video!

    @doomcannon445 Yes it is. I think "Survival" is kind of a generic term anyways for these kinds of topics, but it is the one that most people use. Plus, normal "survival" kit contents can also be referred to as "convenience" kits. If in the middle of no where, it would be really "convenient" to have a mini fishing kit with you. "Urban" survival/convenience gear is what I was hoping to achieve. I hope you enjoyed it anyways. :)

    @UKfamilyprepper Hmmm.... Good point on the bandaid! I'm going to test mine out right now to see if they've dried out. I have not had to do any strenuous work with that little key. I always have my main tools with me. Perhaps this tool would make for a fun review? I can see if it breaks. I'm glad you are enjoying the videos. Please keep me posted on your Kids BOB.

  • @TheUrbanPrepper

    @vention4wh For casual attire, it isn't really a problem. However, if I am wearing a suit or business attire (or even trendy jeans), I do not like anything bulging out in my front pockets. Neither does my wife. If I am wearing a jacket with my suit, I will carry the Altoids tin. I'll check out your card reader recommendation. Thanks for the comment and ideas!

    @Mikemaladar Good idea! I'll try to get to that this week. Thanks!

    @Lemonbrah I've been thinking of getting one of the Lacie iamakey's for my keychain. They look really cool. Perhaps for a future EDC video...

  • @TheUrbanPrepper
    @TheUrbanPrepper  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @tmunds1 Yes, I am planning on keeping one at the top, although I didn't want to put it on this TH-cam video. :)

  • @TheUrbanPrepper
    @TheUrbanPrepper  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @TheRock3609 I have one of those. Maybe I'll do a review sometime. I am still trying to find the best way to utilize it for me.

    @seempark Do you know of a thin enough flashlight that would fit? Unfortunately, I don't know of one...

  • @TheUrbanPrepper
    @TheUrbanPrepper  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @oolcat1 Good point and nice alternative. After using my Swiss Army Knife for over a week, I am finding that I don't necessarily need a huge blade for my normal tasks, although I definitely prefer it. Do you keep the survival card in your wallet?

  • @iksan205

    I've seen so many rural type kits, this is really great and seems way more relevant to most of us urban dwellers! Well done, I think I will be doing something similar, thank you!

  • @TheUrbanPrepper
    @TheUrbanPrepper  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @96mrluke I guess this would fall into Tier 2 for me. It's so small that it just slips into one of my front pockets. I still carry my normal Urban Survival Tin if I am wearing a jacket (Northface of Sports Coat).

  • @Whipstorm
    @Whipstorm 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @TheUrbanPrepper No problem, I know from experience that trying to put a button back on with a safety pin is near impossible, but if you have some heavy nylon thread you can repair any clothing. Another tip, since you dont want to wrap p-cord around your kit, just switch out your shoe laces with black, or brown p-cord and you have it in a pinch if you need it.

    Salt. Instead of alcohol pads or ointment. Salt is an antiseptic you could fit probably 2+ of the little flat packs of salt in. Yes it burns but it works. And the thin floss picks multi functional pick/floss/chew to freshen breath. I want to get one of those keys for several of my kits and key ring. Great vid.

    I know this video is older, but perhaps a light like the mini-photon light would fit? You would have to allow for an entire zone just for that, I don't think you could add any thickness to it. It may be a thought, you may want to try to integrate something that way.

  • @seempark
    @seempark 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is imprinting a problem? I carry a rugar LCP 380 in a pocket carry holster. It imprints big time but no one has ever remarked on it.
    For your SD card, there's a tiny card reader that's not much bigger than the card itself. Google this:
    microSD/SDHC USB Reader
    It's the first result.
    I keep my micro sd card in my smart phone. It has non encrypted things like service manuals and mp3 files as well as a highly encrypted section for scanned credit card bills and other sensitive data.

    Ear Plugs! I created a similar system, inspired by this video a few years back. Thanks! When you carry this slim case, most likely you're dressed up, usually attending a party or some formal function. Often, hearing protection needed for loud music or AV systems which are present on such occasions.

    This was very good just made one myself after watching this I added a prepaid credit card and a razor blade under my tape for my my knife ( I prefer the folding razor knifes) and I use a foil tape. So glad I found your channel.

    Nice little set up.
    One thing I have to point out, by taking the bandaids out of the wrapper the antibiotic cream is more prone to drying out, it may be beneficial to replace these every so often.
    I had one of them tool keys, Mine snapped / split when I used the bottle opener, have you tried yours yet?
    Great Video's Please keep them coming.
    on a side note: You inspired be to redo my Kids BOBS, Thanks.......

    there are SD cards that you can fold in half to expose a usb connector so you can both use it in a SD slot aswell as a standard USB socket, and still its small and thin as a SD card.. real handy

    Not even close to what I was expecting but enjoyed it none the less. I could not care less about fashion so my choice of survival gear is very different. But then I live in the country so that does make a difference. I use a (hold on to you hat) fanny pack which has all the little things I might need now and then like a sewing kit, utility knife, lighter (I don;t smoke either), change and a small keychain sized wind up flashlight. I also carry my wallet and keys on days I wear sweat pants. Lately though I wear a jacket with hidden pockets all over it that has those same things in them. Makes life simpler to have a small pack of baby wipes when you need one.

    I really liked this idea and made my own. I had some extra tools from the Victorinox Swiss card classic bc I replaced mine a few years ago when the plastic broke. So mine has:
    Pen
    Toothpick
    Nail file/flathead screwdriver (good surface for striking matches)
    Paper clip
    Safety pin
    2 bandaids
    Alcohol wipe
    Stick of trident gum
    Pepto chewable
    Immodium
    Benadryl
    Alieve
    Ibuprofen
    Piece of paper
    Cash
    Qtip (hate itchy ears)
    4 matches
    Wow, lots of useful stuff! Plus the outside of the case acts as a mirror. Might add a piece of tape too. Thanks!

    • @daves2027
      @daves2027 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Might also add one of these button lights to the outside but not sure yet, might not fit well in my pocket anymore.

    Thanks for replying! Love your videos, been watching aaaaall of them! Doing lots of research before I start buying & assembling my BOB.

  • @TheUrbanPrepper
    @TheUrbanPrepper  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @seekortry Yes, the prescription pills is tricky. I have been carrying the pill bottle labels for each prescription with me in my wallet. If I was carrying something like Oxycodone I would be more worried about being harassed since that's more of a pill that could be abused (or illegally sold). Every old lady that has one of those Sunday-Saturday pill organizers is "technically" breaking the law. I would rather take the risk and have my blood pressure pills. Great comment!

    This was amazing, is there any chance that you could do a 2.0 video on something like this in the future, because sometimes when going to the hospital or to certain offices it's not prudent to carry a monster Maxpedition kit, where you'd would excel!

    man I´m loving your videos...I´ve been doing research, and I´m making a list to improve my EDC, i have the esentials, but im missing a few important items, got nice ideas from your videos. Thanks a lot.
    I´m also doing some research for a BOB, I live in the Caribbean so mine would be more directed toward hurricane and tsunami situations. I´d love some help on this matter.
    Don´t think it would be much diferrent than a normal BOB but theres a few things that i might have to change or add.

    Hey, I keep meaning to leave a comment, hopefully I haven't already done this in a "half-asleep" state: Have you considered a cigarette tin. Thin, stylish or plain. I've carried one for a companion of mine in the vest pocket of a sport jacket without ever looking bulky or lumpy, you could even keep a cigarette in it to "keep it on the downlow". Look up cigarette cases on Amazon, think you might be surprised as to the variety and availability.

    love the idea of the sd card instead of a usb card, but did you know you can get a credit card sized slimline usb ( usb flips out of card), and instead of the key you can get a 11 in one tool that is also a credit card shape you'll find both of them on eBay or Amazon. thanks for the idea though, my brother is the most difficult to buy presents for but this would be ideal for him in the business setting and by putting it together my self it becomes a more personal gift instead of store bought.

    Have you thought about using one of those credit card tools? It's the size of a normal credit card and would probably take up less space than the key tool you have and had more features. I personally like the bottle opener on the credit card tool because class coke and Pepsi bottles don't come with screw off caps and I'm always cought without a bottle opener.

    I liked the video and your philosophy on what and how to carry gear in a low key manner. The SwissTech tools are great. I have the same one you have and carry it daily. You might want to look at a Pico pen (I think that is the name) which would fit in the case. You are probably carry a pen any way. I use a Rite In Rain pen, it has a Fisher space cartridge. The pen is made of aluminum and can be used as a weapon if needed, but will not fit in your case. Thanks, wtr7

    I keep medication/pills in their original strip, cut off the amount I need (aids recognition) and write on the strip with permanent marker the expiry date. As the business card holder is quite flat and pills that can be wrapped are limited by their size/height, I only use thin Imodium melts (w/ expiry date on the back) in this. As I only carry this when my 'fisherman's friend' tin is too big, I could do for a few hours w/out antihistamine, headache or heartburn relief tablets, not for imodium!!
