    That was fun to watch. I want to thank you for no music, as well. Looked like a great day for flying!

      Yes thanks for the no music, engine noise is much better

    Mine's about 7 years old now, and it was self-built. I have many options on it, including electrically operated gear, hydraulic brakes, stainless steel exhaust, soft start, and some extra avionics. And more. So, engine and kit were about $42K or so. Then at least another $12K in extras over the years.

    Wonderful view flying with you, the touch and go on water is great fun and wish to have a plane like yours , to fly from Oysterbay, thanks Ron.

    I'm infatuated with this plane for so many reasons...amphib, low entry level cost, field of view, low stall speed, ballistic chute option, upgrade ability, solid history. The touch n go's look fun and all (and dangerous without a fly over to scope the water) but I'd love to see some full landings on water from the same camera angle as this gentleman set up, to see how it handles in transition. tnx for the upload :)

    Excellent video! I don't have time at the moment. Except life is starting to excell because of engineering, difficult to push people to new ways other than old polotics that have nothing to do with individuals! Anyway, this video was inspirering as it was years ago because this provided the perspective of a driver within their flight vessel! This made me think from that camera view, a person could emagine that this could possibly be a sea doo with wings! I have always thought a light weight sea doo would make an excellent start to an anfibious plane because it already has perfect thrust at the back for air speed take off! The main thing would be to adapt a cock pit to make somthing so thiers a tower and flight surrounding unit to safely enclose the pilot! Then when in the air an electric motor could be used to keep the seadoo/plane in gliding motion! If I had the priority seqence for when I would like (because times change and need updates) it would be a neat project idea to showcase what can be aconnplished affordably from a home work shop with toys somone already has! Of coarse I would have to get another seadoo to keep the motivation at a steady level to keep the brain fuel flowing

    This has been helpful to me as I learn to fly my own Aventura II (1999 Version with a Rotax 618 - about 73 HP). Thanks for posting this. I'm in N. Florida. I'd love to fly with you sometime.

    lovely. I have a place in Sarasota but live in Eastern Canada and fly an ultralight on floats here. I would love to see the Sarasota area from the air. I think I will someday soon. Maybe get some private pilot lessons there too. Thanks for posting

    Will never be able to come up with $50,00 to have one with all the bells and whistles like you have but a quicksilver MX2 with a 582 blue head and lotus floats might squeak me in at $30,000,,,,lol. Either way great vid and thanks for no music was nice to hear you flying the plane,,,he he.

  • @rgbuggs2
    @rgbuggs2  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Remiguisz Bloch, I have a 912. I have not flown with a 582, and I know they were common with early kits, but I don't recommend less than 80 horsepower. There is very little margin with the smaller engines and for safety's sake, more horsepower will be a good thing. There are cheaper engines than Rotax, such as those being marketed by Aero Adventure. Take a look and see what you think.

    That was enjoyable video. I wasn't sure if you had landed on water or were just above, considering the speed. I imagine it can be difficult at different times of day spotting watercraft and such when flying so close to the surface. Hope to meet you someday in the Harris Lake area.

    • @rgbuggs2
      @rgbuggs2  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not really a problem. Yes, I was on the water in every case. It is hard to tell because the wake is behind the camera.

  • @dfx2kxgaming145
    @dfx2kxgaming145 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This looks far too fun. I see they even offer a VERY reasonably priced ultralight model. Though I think I'd be doing what you do a lot and just using it like a mix between an ultralight and an airboat.
    That is, once I got over the terror of getting close to that water the first few times. It's tricky to tell just how high you are above the water, so I'd be triple checking the settings on my altimeter to be sure....

    Maybe an odd question, but how well would this plane handle cross country flights? What's it's range? Also, would you say it's fit for IFR if fit with the proper avionics?

    • @rgbuggs2
      @rgbuggs2  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a very qualified "yes" for both questions. If adequately equipped with "creature comforts" (doors, nice seats, maybe a heater in colder climates), it could handle long flying days. It is relatively slow at about 70-80 knots (on my Rotax 912) or so for a cruise speed but it has about four hours range on a full 18 gallon tank (larger ones are available). My personal endurance is more like 3 before I need a stretch. It's certainly not designed for IFR, but sure...if you spent the $$$ you could have steam or glass IFR gauges that would allow you to handle IFR. A few have done that, I believe. But that's really not the lane this bird is designed for. It's really akin to doing off-roading in an aviation sense. So, if you would take your dirt bike on a road trip, you could take this plane on a cross-country.

    What do you do out there with no cell service and your rotax quits???

    • @rgbuggs2
      @rgbuggs2  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was surprised to find that there is cell coverage in almost all the areas I fly. Although I have gotten stuck a couple of times parking in soft sand or mud, I've always been able to extricate myself. The Rotes 912 is a solid performer, and in almost 900 hours of this stuff has never let me down.

    Hey Ron! Are you still flying the Adventura? Looks like you're out of Arthur Dunn not too far from where I live in New Smyrna.

    • @rgbuggs2
      @rgbuggs2  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but only about once a week. I am indeed at Arthur Dunn. It's a perfect location for this plane: a grass or asphalt runway option (always grass for me), and only minutes from the St Johns where I have endless places to play. This place is perfect for an amphib!

  • @scotyfilms
    @scotyfilms 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Could you tell me your wind limitations flying and landing in the average Florida lakes area?

    • @rgbuggs2
      @rgbuggs2  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since landing on the lakes can generally be done in any cardinal direction, you always align yourself into a headwind for landing. There's really no such thing as a crosswind landing! The limit is really a function of how much chop there is. Anything more than 8 or 10 inches of wave height makes for a rough landing but it can be done. So, I've operated in winds up to around 20 knots.

    Are you touching the water when you first descend over the river or flying just above it? Great video

    • @rgbuggs2
      @rgbuggs2  8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Anthony, I see what you mean. It's hard to tell, without water splashing in the frame, isn't it! Yes, if it looks like I'm on the water, I am. When I fly, I usually end up doing 10-12 water landings because they're so fun, and often just stay on the water in "boat mode" to take in the sights.

    can you tell me what kind of engine you have?
    I'm looking to buy Aventura II with Rotax 582, and I'm a little worried by its low HP.
    That will be my first plane, is it hard to handle?
    Cheers

    Re; high speed taxi on water ! - The day you hit an object just floating under the surface by about 1'' you will regret this although it is fun. Simply not absolutely safe !. Any float training will include a note on this type of thing. IT IS A NO NO !
