What a great video !! Love ultrlights and aviation in general . Never owned one , but always dreamed , "one day" ......This feels almost like being there ... That countryside must be gorgeous during the fall foliage ..... Great job , and thanks !
It's never too late. I knew I would regret never getting one. The foliage is nice in the fall but it's a mixed bag for me since it's the signal that fun is about to end for a while.
Looks good James. I would say that is the best video yet. Making videos is a learning process. You keep getting better with each one you make, and a lot of it is how much time your are willing to put into it. Keep it up. Keep the videos coming. Fly safe.
Thanks Man! It really means a lot. Tell me, can you hear the music in my video? it says "Copyright Claim" I remember that happening before and my video was just muted. if the music is still playing, I'll delete my clean upload. Thanks for the comment!
@@jamesordwayultralightpilot I could hear the music. They may mute it after a while if you don't dispute it. I used to use music in my videos. They would claim it violated someone's copyright. You can dispute it and keep the music under the "Fair use copyright law". They don't like it but....
Thanks I really appreciate it. I often watch it again to see what all the fuss is about, and I still think it's my best video yet. I get goosebumps every time.
As a little boy, I would fantasize about flying, and especially landing. I was obsessed with the moment objects begin to fly as well as the moment they stop flying. 100s of paper airplanes and little flying machines later, I'm finally doing it. It feels like something I was always meant to do. The real magic is recognizing that in others. It's that one primal feeling all flight junkies share at one point or another.
I'm pretty sure half the views are from me... But it gives me goosebumps to watch and all I did was a quick flight around town. If you do anything with your life, buy and fly an Ultralight... it's more fun than anything I've ever done.
Haha, but why not?! It’s a great video you’ve made. Nothing like, as the saying goes, ‘ slipping the surly bonds of earth ‘, even if only for a few minutes, and enjoying this sort of freedom. It is an amazing feeling even though tempered with thoughts of, what if the engine stops?, can I get this contraption back on the ground?, will my wife kill me when I get home for going flying and not mowing the lawns as I promised her yesterday?, etc, etc. Wonderful vid, ‘tks for posting Cheers.
They go for around 20 grand US brand new from Air Tech Inc. This one has a BRS Parachute, but only because of all the trees lol it would be perfectly safe without one in the more rural parts of the country. I've dead stick landed this thing and it's so smooth. I'm in hibernation recently just tinkering around. It should be a little nicer come spring!
Both are great but I hear the aerolite has faster characteristics. With flaps you'll never use and a yoke instead of a stick. All things to consider. But most people that have an aerolite aren't unhappy. I just wanted a stick. The plane picks you lol.
@FernandoPerez-en8sc no don't worry about it. I mean like everything is a little faster like rotation speed and stall speed and cruise speed. If you were to fly around with a quick sport and a 103 the 103 would be throttled back a little. But overall they would be good to fly around all day. Some planes are a rough match up because of the difference in speeds. It's quite surprising how much it comes into play until you start to understand how you fly. I think the aerolite might be just a little easier to build too but not by much. They are both great plane models.
Good question! It's an MX Sport 93. I literally just attached a selfie stick to 2 clamp bar style mounts you can tighten really good. Then just unzipped the inspection zipper midway down the wing just enough to clamp the selfie stick without it bouncing too much. I can then extend the stick 6ft in front of the wing for those cool 360 shots or just leave it closed and get the underwing view. Technically it adds drag but I really don't notice it.
They range. You can find a good flying used ultralight for around $5000 on barnstormers.com or you can find one that someone flew and dismantled and put away for under that. You run a risk but if you trust the owner did fly it regularly this is the most cost efficient. I got mine with an extra engine and a few extra sails for $3200 and sunk a bit more into it since then. Or you can buy one brand new for around $20,000 and up!
No, he’s not. About the only reg he’s even coming close to violating is 91.119(a). But just barely, if at all. He’s fine. www.ecfr.gov/current/title-14/chapter-I/subchapter-F/part-91/subpart-B/subject-group-ECFRe4c59b5f5506932/section-91.119
Is that the 500 feet above property and structures? It always feels low going over the town but I like to have points I can glide to if my engine quits even in town.
Beautiful video! Nice plane, excellent flying! I will say you’re braver than me! Lots of trees underneath you.
Yeah I was being risky here for the video. But I am always looking for a spot to land.

Turns out it says the owner of the music allows it to be used on TH-cam so my video won't be affected.
Great work james
Excellent. Perfection. Thank you 😊
I have another video almost done just finishing it up now!!!
Beautiful video, James. I was literally in a trance while watching!

Thanks for the ride.
Any time!
Awesome man
Thanks for watching!
It's a beautiful video!
Thanks, I can't wait to get back up there.
BEAUTIFUL, JUST BEAUTIFUL! 😊

Good for you James, I am envious. Too late for me. 😂
Great video
keep your airspeed up
keep it pointed into the wind
and just drive it
Loved the ride along
More videos in the making including a walk around and a couple VR flights

I'm always looking for a spot to land. Mainly because I aim to do more back country flying after I've done it for a few years
Agreed Bro ! Except for Gravity !
Looking good! Need a little more practice keeping it over the runway after takeoff, but looks awesome!
Thanks but I can put her down on center from anywhere it's very slow. That's just for GA. Crabbing is easy with a quicksilver
Good video! Have fun!
Thanks! 😃
I enjoyed the flight....Thanks....beautiful country....where is it ?
Wurtsboro NY Sullivan County
James did you self train, just interested in getting one of those types of A/P!! Thank you
Yes I did these videos are in order from hops to skips to jumps lol.
Beautiful video. Is this quicksilver including a parachute? What is the range price for a new UL like this?

Thanks for the website information. I was evaluating the Aerolite 103 and now I’m confuse if Quicksilver is a best option after observing the website.

could you be more specific when mentioning faster characteristics? Sorry my question. I’m new on this about UL.

I want one so badly
If you have a general knowledge of flight and the ability to take things slow or even get lessons, it's totally worth it.
Well amazing 🤔
Since I was able to form conscious thoughts I knew I would fly one someday...
This appears to be an MXL model. How did you mount the camera on the wing with a lower skin covering it?

How much does one of these cost. I’ve been looking for one for a while now

New York State USA! Thanks for watching, my friend.
Nice video brother
Thanks man, I'm trying to do more like it this year.

The music suits the video.
Thanks! I'm glad there are a bunch of people that like a soundtrack.
Braking lots of laws in this flight
Which ones?

theres no shortage of trees there tg
I know it kinda sux. Trees and rotor coming from every direction except the southwest up to 1800ft agl.
