Canada's trade is around 80% with the USA. Canada actually buys more goods from the USA than any other country. Canada's biggest export to the US is oil, take that out and the US has a trade surplus with Canada. The US needs the heavy oil that Canada has.Where else would they get it? There is a world shortage of heavy oil.

I don't always agree with Doug Ford, but he is 100% correct when he states that countries like China are the only winners in a trade war between the U.S. and Canada. If the U.S. impose tariffs on car parts from Canada, that means U.S. automakers will buy more parts from China. If Canada imposing retaliatory tariffs on American oranges or orange juice, that means Canadians grocery store shelves will be filled up with Chinese oranges and orange juice instead. I never cared much for Ford mostly because he is conservative, but when I hear him talk, I'm really impressed with him. I like the way he talks about other politicians and opponents. He doesn't speak badly about them, he doesn't create propaganda and lies about them. Even when he doesn't necessarily agree with their policies he doe isn't defame anyone. If he would do half as much for Northern Ontario as he does for Southern Ontario, he would be a great premier.
I'm noticing that more and more. He doesn't sugarcoat. He doesn't back down and is diplomatic about it. He doesn't threaten, belittle or play school yard bully B.S. games. He puts it out there plain and simple for those of us that don't want to or shouldn't have to read between the lines.
We consider Canadians friends and family. It's why we're trying to merge the two countries and freeing you from that monarchy dictatorship where you have an unelected king as head of state.
They never were our friends. They have NO friends. They're alone. Just neighbors partners. Trust between partners is the first and most important factor: it's now non-existant. Achieving trust is a long process. Can be destroyed by a snap of the fingers. Trump snapped, it's now too late, no coming back. The best way to choose new friends is BRICS, 80% of world population.

@joshh9810 Trump was a sad failure as 45. His incompetence led to over 1 million Covid deaths (inject bleach) and a crushed economy. He broke major promises to his base on the wall, manufacturing, integrity in government, healthcare, and was impeached twice. To be fair, he did get the Abraham accords and Operation Warp Speed for the Covid vaccine. Yet, millions were out of work when he left. He had driven the debt and deficit to record levels and attempted to overturn the election he had definitely lost. On balance history will judge him as one of the worst presidents in US history.
The whole notion of other countries spending more money on self defence is good for America for one reason only. And it’s something I never hear anyone talk about. The US has a massive arms industry that exports arms and especially to what were formerly called its allies. So when any country boosts its defence spending a lot of that money goes to the US arms industry by buying overpriced jets for example. So basically it’s a wealth transfer to the US. So I don’t want to hear anyone talk about more about how Canada isn’t living up to its defence spending when in fact it was the US that killed the Canadian fighter jet program decades ago.
@@LapinDebogues plus the fact that Canada's population is equal to California. We don't have the economy or money that the US makes in order to invest in our military. Enough of the silly talk arguing about who’s is bigger.
Been noticing that too... it's funny how we (Canadians) are so used to saying it a certain way. But totally reasonable - can't really say its "wrong" .. tomato, tomato , route, route,
Canada is trying to work a relationship that is foundationally broken due to these traffis... this relationship can't function any further with these traffis... Canada has only one option to diversify its trading partners... Easier said, then done ...but that seems to be the right path..
This situation is not new. It was also proposed when Trudeau the father was the PM. He had at that time, a plan To diverse his trade out of USA. However, shortly later the Canadian economy became more relayed to the USA. Nevertheless, we have a problem now , but the Canadian problem is nothing compared to the American problem, which will be created by Mr. Trump. This is a wake-up call to Canadian . And bye the way, to apply tariff, it won't start immediately. It will take time to create a system . Canada has the option to find new partners. And Canadian politicians, please stop bagging for mercy from Trump. The more you do that, the more he harms you. It is very clear , Mr. Trump doesn't care about Canadian. It looks like your neighbor is bullying you to take your house, or he promises you to suffer .
I am surprised how our Canadian leaders are dealing with this situation. President Trump is dehumanizing Canada people and leaders. He and Elon Musk are both narcissists. Canada is in a strong proportion. Trade partners are everywhere. The resources Canada has are highly required . Instead of reminding Trump to the relationship, start looking out of the box. Go out of your cozy comfort zone, pull up your sleeves and find other trad partners, start making deals, and increase the price of Canadian products that are exported to the USA. Canada can join the EU or form a union with Australia and New Zealand . This is how you approach a bully. Strong plan for better position
@evamancilla4766 The Canadian Instead of panicking, Canadian leaders should put a contingency plan and risk mitigation plan. I am really shocked with their reaction and the media they are involved in. Canada has a great proposition. Leaders must go out of their comfort zones and pull up their sleeves . Canada can join the EU, Canada can form trade partnerships with Australia and New Zealand . Your opponent thinks hundreds of times when you are strong . If you keep doing what you had done. You would always get what you have gotten .
Loving you Americans doesn't mean we want to be you. We love our country. And we love our freedom. Threatening our freedom just seems un American. If we don't trade with USA we then have to find others to trade with. And that's sad.
Trump and America loves Canada too, which is why we want to merge the two countries and get you out from that oppressive Monarchy. When your king is an unelected head of state, that's not a democracy. We don't wanna see your economy collapse into a great depression with the tariffs, which is why Trump is offering statehood. We're tariffing all countries to force everything to be made in the US like it used to be.
@guncontrolisusingbothhands5177 all of that says you don't understand our country at all. Or that we don't have this resentment to the UK or monarchy as you guys seem to still be hung up on. Trump doesn't love Canada. He doesn't respect or love our country in anyway. And this would be a hostility toward us. We don't see it as anything but insulting. I am a conservative Canadian. And though I was happy that your election brought in a strong Republican vote. I no longer have support for trump as he doesn't respect my country and our sovereignty. We don't have to merge to do anything. We never had to before. And this is more about trading in our independence for slavery to a country. Giving up our sovereignty is giving up our independence and rights. Something that we actually have as a country that was given independence from the crown as a common wealth country. Every country that gained their independence has had the right to form their own government and has been respected as their individual rights to govern their own nation. So everything you said was really just deceptive. And manipulation. Also statements with little understanding of our amount of independence from the crown to govern ourselves. We as Canadians don't agree with policies your country has and reserve the right to act independently. Conservative government in Canada would be a great leadership for us. Just as Republicans are best for you at this time. Respectfully though. We should be not going through trade wars when working together is always been possible before and respecting our sovereignty over our lands shouldn't be an issue. Trade deals should not be now an issue. And when you have a state on fire it's your allies that come running. Your own states don't show unity and come running to put it out. There's no time where you guys have a national disaster that we don't come to your aid. And each time you struggle to aid your own people. You often spend time arguing over if you should care for your own people in disaster relief. So why would Canadians who don't have to argue to show you guys mercy in disaster relief or help put out a fire. Want to join you so you can take our resources. You can do fairness at the bargain table for those resources. Each nation started out with a fair amount of resources. But we had depended on you guys to refine the materials we traded to you. That was our mistake over the years. And liberals blocked our progress to build our own refineries and ability to create better business. We sold our resources cheaply to America. Under better leadership it's time to build our own people and businesses not trade down and let our nation be squandered further and ruled by a nation that would not care for our people. You guys don't even care for your own people. Each state wouldn't even send help to another state.

There is no point begging Trump not to impose tariff on Canadian products. If Trump thinks that USA must impose tariff on Canadian products, he will do it. For Canada, the most effective response is to develop its trade with other countries with the aim of reducing its exports to USA to not more than more than 10%. If Canada can achieve this goal, then Canada will have no fear of US tariff on its products.
I agree that Canadian subsidies need to stop. There was a time when we used to make the equipment our troops used. But ever since the 1960s practically every aircraft our air force has flown has been built in an American plant. All that money we’ve poured into the pockets of American workers. All that money we’ve poured into those communities. All that money we’ve poured in to boost the bottom line of American corporations. I guess when DT says Canada needs to spend more on defence, he really means we need to pour more money into American pockets. These subsidies have to stop. Maybe we should subsidize Sweden’s factories and buy their Gripen aircraft or pour money into Ukraine and buy their ever so good tank busting drones. Maybe we should get back to making our stuff and stop all those subsidies just like DT says we should.
Trudeau will never buy our jets anyway. He kept projecting that Canada will pledge to spend X amount on NATO by 2020, but now it's moved up to 2030. When 2030 comes it'll be moved up to 2040. It's just a game to make the US pay for Canada's defense.
Canada needs to seek out any assistance it can from any nation that will help defend against Trump's America. Canada is facing war economically and militarily from the real enemy of Canada. The Ununited States of America.
I was with Doug on this interview until he obviously ignored that's the question about 5% GDP spending on defence and not 2%. 5% spending on defence and military is absolutely crazy. Can we not take care of people with disabilities before worrying about Russia and China supposedly invading?
It 2% that That is required by NATO. Canada should get out of NATO it cant fight any wars stick to NORAD and hold hand with US when needed. Canada has major problem with low income Rental housing where the $ should go. stater families and the elderly just cant afford to rent.
For Trump in the US it's even more crazy. Their NATO GDP is 3.5% in the US. Try to sell another 300 billion a year in defense spending to the people in the US. That won't fly at all.

Canada should join BRICS. Open the market up with all the BRICS countries and Europe to mitigate the 25% tariffs. The cost of production in the USA is to high and to bring back jobs back into the USA would be very difficult. China is already producing cheap cars that is affecting Usa and Europe.
Soy beans to China is a small percentage of our economy. China tried to use soy beans as a trade weapon and later that year came back to the US begging to buy our soy beans because Brazil and Argentina couldn't produce enough for their needs. Those two countries also hurt their own food production by planting all those soy beans, because their people rely on corn. They eat corn tortillas with every meal. They're not soy boys with limp wrists from all the estrogen the beans cause, they want the corn to eat. We don’t have much defence because we are a huge country with a very small population. What Trump fails to mention though is that at the end of the day, it is in the best interests of the US to protect Canada. Think about it. To explain to Canadians that the 2016 drywall tariffs originated from Canadian actions, not Donald Trump or the U.S., it’s essential to clarify the timeline and context of events: 1. Origin of the Tariffs The drywall tariffs were imposed by Canada, not the United States. In September 2016, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) introduced anti-dumping duties on drywall imported from the U.S. into Western Canada. This was in response to complaints from Canadian drywall manufacturers alleging that U.S. exporters were selling drywall at unfairly low prices, which harmed the domestic industry. 2. Canada’s Trade Remedy Mechanisms Canada has its own trade enforcement processes under the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA), allowing domestic industries to request investigations into unfair trade practices, such as dumping or subsidies. The CBSA and the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) independently reviewed the matter and decided to impose provisional and later permanent tariffs. This was a decision entirely initiated and managed by Canadian authorities. 3. Timeline Predates Trump Presidency The drywall tariffs were implemented in September 2016, months before Donald Trump became president in January 2017. Therefore, these measures were not a result of Trump’s trade policies or rhetoric. 4. Canadian Industry’s Role The tariffs were specifically a response to a complaint from CertainTeed Gypsum Canada, a domestic drywall producer, which petitioned for protection from alleged dumping by U.S. competitors. It was a Canadian business seeking trade remedies within Canada’s legal framework. 5. Localized Nature of the Dispute Unlike major trade disputes such as those involving softwood lumber or steel and aluminum tariffs, the drywall tariffs were relatively niche and geographically focused on Western Canada. They did not escalate to broader U.S.-Canada trade relations or involve high-level political figures like Trump. By presenting this explanation, it becomes clear that the drywall tariff issue was a Canadian-led action to address concerns from its own industry, separate from U.S. politics or Trump’s policies.
Canada is a huge country with an extremely small population. It is extremely unrealistic to think that Canada can spend as much as the US does. And let’s be honest, if Canada were to be invaded, it would not because they have enemies. It is because the US has lots of enemies who want to get close. It is in the US best interests to protect Canada, otherwise you face the potential of having Russia as your new neighbour. Who would you rather live beside, a friendly neighbour who shares the same language and similar values, or a hostile neighbour who has nuclear weapons?

If the U.S. impose tariffs on car parts from Canada, that means U.S. automakers will buy more parts from China. If Canada imposing retaliatory tariffs on American oranges or orange juice, that means Canadians grocery store shelves will be filled up with Chinese oranges and orange juice instead.

Go out of your cozy comfort zone, pull up your sleeves and find other trad partners, start making deals, and increase the price of Canadian products that are exported to the USA. Canada can join the EU or form a union with Australia and New Zealand . This is how you approach a bully. Strong plan for better position

To explain to Canadians that the 2016 drywall tariffs originated from Canadian actions, not Donald Trump or the U.S., it’s essential to clarify the timeline and context of events:
1. Origin of the Tariffs
The drywall tariffs were imposed by Canada, not the United States.
2. Canada’s Trade Remedy Mechanisms
Canada has its own trade enforcement processes under the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA), allowing domestic industries to request investigations into unfair trade practices, such as dumping or subsidies. The CBSA and the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) independently reviewed the matter and decided to impose provisional and later permanent tariffs. This was a decision entirely initiated and managed by Canadian authorities.
3. Timeline Predates Trump Presidency
The drywall tariffs were implemented in September 2016, months before Donald Trump became president in January 2017. Therefore, these measures were not a result of Trump’s trade policies or rhetoric.
4. Canadian Industry’s Role
The tariffs were specifically a response to a complaint from CertainTeed Gypsum Canada, a domestic drywall producer, which petitioned for protection from alleged dumping by U.S. competitors. It was a Canadian business seeking trade remedies within Canada’s legal framework.
5. Localized Nature of the Dispute
Unlike major trade disputes such as those involving softwood lumber or steel and aluminum tariffs, the drywall tariffs were relatively niche and geographically focused on Western Canada. They did not escalate to broader U.S.-Canada trade relations or involve high-level political figures like Trump.
By presenting this explanation, it becomes clear that the drywall tariff issue was a Canadian-led action to address concerns from its own industry, separate from U.S. politics or Trump’s policies.
Canadá devia se juntar aos BRICS! BRASIL, CHINA, RUSSIA, ÍNDIA, AFRICA DO SUL + CANADÁ 🍁
thx Prime Minister of Canada Doug Ford
Canada is negligent in it's defence spending.

They are just a failure country.
Iast month Muslims rioted violently. Muslims violently went after jews
What has Canada's defence spending got to do with the US initiating a trade war?
@@justylex Canada still needs to do their part. We can't put it all on the Americans.
negligent in defence spending? that's a hoot. if you had listened to us (the kind of friend who tells you hard truths) and stayed out of iraq, you would have saved yourselves $4 TRILLION and counting... instead, dubya slandered us as "unreliable allies"... can you imagine how that money could have been better spent? who's "negligent"? do yourself a favor: turn off your TV and get off social media for a week. read a book about, or take a trip to, any of the countries that america has bombed or invaded in the last 100 years, then get back to me about negligent defence spending. if you make it over to vietnam, this canadian will be glad to take you around and introduce you to the many local people i know who suffer to this day, thanks to american negligence 🙂
As a Canadian, Premiere Ford was not my elected choice but I am very please and very proud how he is standing up to Trump and has gathered all the Canadian Premieres to stand together . Good Job Mr. ford very proud of how you are standing up for Canadians .
Canada strong💪🏻💯🇨🇦❤️
Doug Ford couldn’t lose an election, if he tried. 💝🥰🙏👍
He could definitely lose one. His government has had moments when they've been very unpopular but his greatest strength is that he listens to people when he has done something wrong and has apologized and reversed course.
Like when he tried to give away protected green belt land to his builder friends?
Ford just humiliated himself on live TV sucking up to DT. He had been though since day one , but looks weak now.
Why are u talking so humble now a week ago u said u Gona buy Alaska ?
Dude, your dividing the globe for your selfish interest.
Be human!
Which dude are you speaking to? Mr. Ford wants to work with USA but he's not going to sit back and just give our country to Trump so I really hope Trump is the dude you're referring to.
@mabelregimal5407 yeah bro
Hello! Does anyone think DJT cares about anyone but his billionaire boy’s club!?

I miss affordable furniture in Canada before china tariffs. Don’t see people buying more made in Canada furniture.
Canada does not have tariffs on China
Its too bad Canada has a weak government. The people voted for Liberals and they folded so what can you do.
The Liberals are still in power at the federal level. I wouldn't call them weak but definitely unpopular with Trudeau leading.
nobody folded , retaliatory tariffs are ready...too bad about those american jobs..
@@GeraldBeagan-ee6se I doubt the usa will suffer as much as canada. Their economy is far more diverse and way stronger than Canada could ever dream. Despite what fear mongers may say the output of the USA is king. Their capital markets are the largest in the world. Yes the government has debt but that debt can easily be repaid without much effort unlike canada where our economy is mostly one thing, homes. Consider California a single state has a larger gdp then our entire country.
@@Womba1009you get it. Canada already folded it's hand.

Having your orange doofus as a leader is a good start
Parce que nous sommes fiers d’être Canadiens et parce que MAGA est un dépotoir toxique.
Why you are the crackhouse next door, is why
Most Canadians look at the U.S and see a country that is hated throughout the world, 34 trillion in debt, it's cities crime infested, it's rural countryside up to it's neck in poverty and drug addiction, it's public education system failing, a health care system that bankrupts it's citizens, a nearly non existent social safety net and a political climate that is far to the right of most Canadians. Who would want to become part of that? Canada has it's problems but, as we up here, "at least we aren't Americans".
Canada and Poland are not for sale ♥️🇵🇱🇨🇦🇪🇺🇬🇧💪
It seems that they start to talk some sense. Canada and USA must be together very very tight. Do not let Canada at the hands of China and Europeans.
We have done well working together as nations. And we want it to stay that way
🤣🤣Why does China or Europe need Canada? It's complete stupidity, you'll cry from the USA. when he will resettle all homeless people from the USA to 51stat+non-legal migrants.
We Canadians reject a trump led america! 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
….get a 3D printer from China and print the stuff you need that can be printed. Buy the files from a Canadian designer. One aspect of the problem solved.
less shipping, more 3d printing, save environment too
@@jarnailbrar6732 i saved over 2k in parts for things that broke around the house, with my old crappy printer. Im currently in deficit because i got two new printers and starting up my own gig with my own designs. 3D printing at home is truly amazing and part of a solution. I no longer need to tinker to make my prints work. It’s now like a microwave. 95% of my time is designing and printing 5% is maintenance, not even fixing. This should be a national consideration to make this part of our daily life.
Mexicans & Canadians are as America as the US. Hense the Notrh part just being removed. People not ready to hear this though.
You’ve probably never spent time in either Canada or Mexico to make sure a dumb statement
