I had a work road trip this week and got a phone call from my sister that my mom was majorly depressed and needed to get out and be around others, so I invited her to join me on my 6 hour drive. I put on the podcast and she shared that she had never watched any of Nate's stand up. We proceeded to watch every special we could find for the remainder of the trip and the Nate medley made the time go by faster and had her crying with laughter. She said she hasn't laughed like that in a long time, and I think it was really healing.
Thanks for sharing the medicine of laughter! - Brooklyn in Jacksonville

The most Dusty sentence ever spoken. “I can’t get anymore leaves into the back of my truck cause there’s a bathtub in there right now because I’m going to start a worm farm.”

PSA FOR ALL HAMSTER OWNERS! Did you know hamsters hibernate?! When hamsters get too cold they can go into a state of inactivity where it's body temperature lowers and their heart rate and breathing rate decrease to conserve energy. . There is no visible heartbeat or breathing. STOP throwing away your hamsters or feeding them to your pet snakes! They might just be sleeping

UK fan here. So much of the US culture references (Country Music, etc) goes completely over my head - no idea about Zak Brown, Zak Bryan, Joe Diffee etc as they have no profile here - but none of that matters. Just four friends talking about everything and nothing, and I could absolutely listen to it all day.
And the ‘That’s what Jesus said’ comment was absolute genius.

I’ve listened to every podcast since the beginning and Aaron’s saying “33… gonna be a good year” followed by Breakfast saying “that’s what Jesus said” may have been the most overlooked bit in the podcasts history. Hey guys wanted to say I love the podcast. Brian and Aaron are very funny and it’s great to have Aaron as a role model since we look alike. As always, I am late to good things, so even though I have known and enjoyed Neil Barngoatyz comedy for years, I failed to start listening to the podcast when it started. That said I wanted to let you know I just finished episode 10 and 11 talking about comedy and it inspired me to finally sign up to an open mic and take a step toward a long time dream of mine. I won’t be able to go up til the 29th or so because I waited to long to sign up, keeping with my life theme of being late to things. I will catch up and keep up with the podcast and comment on how I did. Thanks so much for the laughs and the comedy discussion/advice. Much love,
    Adam D.

Interesting interaction Nate brought up about Chris Stapleton. I work with a guy, his daughter is a magazine writer in Nashville and tells us about her interactions with multiple singers. She has interviewed Stapleton twice and both times was just a longer version of what Nate experienced. She said he was not engaged in the interview at all. Doesn’t make him a bad guy, just interesting that her story was kind of confirmed by Nate.

Of course, being in the Dairy State may have had something to do with it, and it was finished by the time I started school. We had a dedicated milk chute that I would occasionally have to crawl through if my older sisters forgot the key, and we were locked out. Eventually my dad closed it off for insulation and security.

We had a crocodile when I was a kid. I grew up in Alabama and my dad was a logger. He was constantly bringing home baby squirrels, foxes, turtles, and snakes, even venomous. He bought the crocodile at a pet store in Florence, Alabama in 1994 and it lived in an aquarium on the floor in our living room. Luckily, it ate all the fish in its aquarium one night and died before it got big enough to do any real damage to us, which was inevitable with a 7 year old and 4 year old little boys running around.
We got our daughter a ball python during COVID and one of the live rats we tried feeding her was too big and dislocated the snake’s jaw and attacked the snake who later died from the injuries. We also had a rabbit that my wife and daughter put out in our Southern California backyard to “get some exercise” and was likely snatched by the neighborhood coyotes.
From now on, I think we’ll stick to boring ol’ dogs.

I'm surprised no one has brought up water polo as the sport to play and easily blend in. Every time I've seen that sport, everyone looks similarly lost and frantic. Dusty and Nate could easily blend in with water polo. Even if Dusty's 4' 8" (Briglebee made me laugh out loud with that one)!

Aaron shouldn’t worry about the awkward Paisley meeting. It sounds like he was asking very “Santa Claus” questions. Who meets someone and asks, “and what do you like to do?” It’s like asking, “and how have you been this year?” “Have you been nice to your little brother?”

Hey fellas did you know hamsters have an interesting defense mechanism in the event they get a leg stuck somewhere? No? We didn’t either. What a nice surprise it was to learn this as a child when my pet hamster got caught in his cage and chewed his own leg off to get free. I bet my mom wished we had a snake like Aaron did. Would have been a more economical next step.

I never thought I'd ever be one of those crazy pet owners where the pet is everything but after getting divorced and my son now living a state over. This cat which came in off the street is now my son lol. I talk to him, he makes me happy and upset, he helps fill a sad gap in my life. So really at this point he's more then a pet but I'd never thought I'd be here lol.

Felt like Dusty was a pretty normal guy last week talking about Colin Cowherd and college football.
That all went out the window when I heard him pronounce Morgan “Waylon” and talk about collecting leaves for 5 minutes. I love this podcast.

Nate as a fellow OHB listening to you read is very reminiscent. That top notch Davidson County Dupont reading program that was non-existent.

I love that Dusty brought up his future worms on the pets episode. I'm not allowed pets in my apartment, but am dreaming of setting up worms outside this spring for food composting. As a newcomer to the pod, this felt like a sign I am in the right place here.

I could not be more pumped about hearing how Aaron blanked in front of Brad Paisley. Brad is from my hometown in West Virginia (the fattest state 😅) and I got to meet him when I was in high school. He was just a few years older than me and already a HUGE star. He spoke to me and I felt myself go numb, I could barely respond. It’s one of the most humiliating experiences of my life. 😂 just glad I’m not alone.

Founding folk here, Bates' face was priceless when Nate said he had a bird hit a frying pan. At a pet show in elementary school I showed my 2 hamsters Salt & Pepper. It was an outside show and the glass basically cooked them. They won most active cause they didn't stop running in their wheels the whole time. In the car ride home I noticed they weren't moving.

This podcast is everything I look for in a podcast. I love Dusty Slay so when I found out he was in this podcast I started watching, who knew I'd find 3 more Comedians that I love. This episode is so good especially the Cma opening. Beautiful!

I didn’t have Aaron quoting Theo Von saying ferrets are the limousine of rats and quoting GK Chesterton about dogs in the same episode on my Nateland bingo card this week. That’s pretty impressive.

1:27:32 Maybe your HOA would let you put an owl house up, but you may want to talk to the owl before building their house to make sure their owl HOA is cool with all of your leaves.

First of all I want to say that all 4 of you guys are AWESOME together. I have enjoyed some of the guest hosts, but none as much as you 4. I hate to break it to Aaron, but he already owes Dusty a Papa Johns card. People have married their pets already. I read an article years ago where a lady married her cat. I ran a search on the old Google Machine to see if I could find that article, only to realize that there are a MULTITUDE of reprobates who have married their pets. Enjoy the Pizza Dusty, and all of y'all Keep Up the GREAT Work.

Surfing the website I saw this sentence "The podcast features the three friends discussing a wide range of topics, from pop culture and current events to their personal lives and experiences." The question is - Who is not a friend? I tried not to use any big words so y'all can read through this with ease. Thanks for all the laughs! Love what y'all are doing! - Drew

I have three sons. We have had two snakes over the years and both of them have gotten loose.
One was loose in our home for 2 months and we were gone for 5 weeks of that time for a cross country trip. My friends came in to water plants and I did not tell them there was a snake loose in the house. They found out. Oh my goodness.
It was a ball Python which we found one night when it had come out looking for food. Shocking since we figured it was long gone.
Second snake, a corn snake, got out in the minivan when my youngest decided to take it to PetSmart because other people take their pets, why can't I take mine. Dad said sure.
The snake got out and went into the car's body/frame and the boys tried everything under the sun to lure it out. I refused to drive my own vehicle even through my husband was sure if I took my girlfriends out for a drive that snake would surely show up.
Finally, after a trip to Home Depot and some lumber banging around in the back, the snake came out and my husband brought it in the house on the end of a rake.
Being the mother of boys isn't for the faint of heart.

I used to babysit for my cousin and my aunt had an African grey parrot. It was very smart and would make the sound of the phone ringing and then shout in my cousin's voice and say, "Mom, phone!". Also, Dusty is absolutely right about the Joe Diffie tribute!

love Nat's perspective, Dusty could say "I was at a show during my set and the club was on fire, someone shot at me and a tornado went by" Nat's reply would be "ya ya, that's great, you gotta go through that, that's comedy, it's important that happened"

In college one of my roomates came home from an ice fishing trip with a smallmouth bass that was mixed in with the live bait. It was about 2 inches long when he brought him home. We named him Phil, short for Fillet. We could hold worms above the water and Phil would jump out of the water and snatch them right out of our hand. When he moved out Phil was about 8 inches long. He moved Phil with him from place to place until he was outgrowing his 60 gallon tank and was given to a guy with a pond. Phil was the best party trick pet anybody could ever have!

I live in rural Pennsylvania and we have two dairies locally that still deliver milk and other dairy products.
We would all be leery of someone who looked like Dusty parking his bathtub in our driveway and randomly raking our leaves.

I grew up in farm country and one of my friends families had a “pet” raccoon named Popcorn. One time Popcorn escaped his cage and followed his humans to school. He then immediately scurried up into the ceiling tiles and proceeded to destroy the insulation and electrical wiring prompting the fire alarm to be set off and all of us to be evacuated. We watched from the field while the fire department tried to wrangle Popcorn. They did eventually find him, unfortunately he bit the wrong wire and was electrocuted. In his final act of raccoon defiance he lived up to his name. RIP Popcorn.
