Just remember everyone, Aquamarine was out here doing the whole "true love doesn't have to equate to a guy" twist a whole *seven* *years* before Frozen did (+ eight years before Maleficent). 😉💧❄
@@daviewz9335 keyword they said “I” meaning it was the first time THEY saw it. The original commenter also stated a fact that this movie did that trope year before (SPECIFICALLY) frozen and maleficent. Never did they say this movie was the first ever to do it.
I don't care what anyone says this movie is PHENOMENAL and a MASTERPIECE. ESPECIALLY when you realize how impactful a story like this is for young girls, Raymond's very realistic answer of we need time is something SO lacking in romance it's genuinely such a top tier moment for me for that alone, but the overall message of the several different types of love is so important when young people are constantly fed the narrative that you need a romantic partner to live a fulfilling life. It's just fucking fantastic I love it so damn much 😩
omg I agree!! I just watched it for the first time in a long time and didn’t realize how positive and happy this movie is! and it’s directed by a woman so an even bigger bonus!
Deadass, this movie has such good messages. Like usually to show platonic love they make the romantic love interest a douche, but they kept him a good person and still accomplish the friendship love
I loved this movie as a kid, and I fully stand by it. I like how it starts off with they typical teen girls obsessing over a boy, but by the end it's about their friendship and personal growth.
I love how Aaron & Jo take the time to question Hailey's capri cargo pants but make no comments whatsoever on how Aquamarine *literally* turns a shirt into a dress. 😆👕👗
I love that this movie basically says that even though romantic love is the one getting the most attention, platonic love is just as valid and can even be stronger than romantic love. That's a message we dont get too often.
I honestly thought this movie was just a fever dream i had when i was little. I can’t believe this actually exists. You guys unlocked a childhood memory.
i swear to god almighty if y’all make fun of this, it will CRUSH me 😭 this movie is my childhood (but i give you guys full rights to make fun of claire when she’s swimming in the water and screaming “Hailey” 😂)
honestly if there's one thing I'd ever make fun of this movie for (and I hold it very dearly) it would be when Claire straight up yells at Aqua when they're supposed to be speaking loud but not *that* loud in a tense scene (they're at the buoy during the storm and she says "YEAH, ANYTHING!" in response to Hailey asking what they can do to help) I'm pretty sure Emma even addressed that on the DVD extras and had no idea why she was so loud in comparison to her costars lol. I'm guessing because of the direction that they're in a storm and need to be louder for when the effects are added but not everyone was as great at gauging appropriate decibels on the sound stage that day haha
The way I literally choked in the middle of laughing when Aaron said her name sounds like a "branch in the military", like I don't know why that made me laugh so much, literally had to drink some water to calm down😂💀Also you guys look great!
To be fair the dude is a lifeguard. He should know how to actually take care of a wound. They know first aid training. So the roasting was well deserved IMO.
The true meaning behind the movie Aquamarine As beautifully put by Aaron and Jo; “Suck on toes, during the day. Suck on tails during the night.” 🤣🤣🤣 Fingers crossed that you both reach 300k, thanks for making me laugh once again. I hope that you’re both doing good.
I looked up the origin of "two cents" bc I was interested and I think it stems from the bible. A widow only had two cents but still donated them or something, so basically "She gave all she had even if it was just two cents" and that became an idiom over time. Someone who has actually read the bible might be able to explain it better than me 🤷🏼♀️

My sister and I love this movie! We watched it on repeat as soon as it came out on DVD. I think a few months after that we lost the DVD. It was a tragic loss. I suspect my mom or dad got rid of it though and some day I'll prove it!
my aunt bought me this dvd for my birthday one year as a kid and i remember watching it for the first time and thinking the mermaid girl was really really pretty
honestly aquamarine was one of my favorite chick flicks growing up and one of my comfort films today. who doesnt love .. 1. Mermaids 2. Friendship 3. Weezer
This is one of my favorite movies. Watched it as an adult and still loved it. I love how the love of friendship counted and not just the “love” of some boy she known like two days. It was realistic for a movie about a mermaid lol
I remember one time around Christmas atleast a few weeks before, i turned to this channel and i swear everyday they played this on teen nick, and the worst part is I lost the remote, almost went insane everytime it played

4:38 Those shorts that Hailey's wearing? As someone who grew up wearing them quite often in the spring & summer, they're called capris, boys. Show them some respect, as they helped as a work around with school dress codes. 😉
Yeah! I was like, “I would wear that all the time 🤔” capris are comfortable lol and great for kids to wear since girl’s shorts tend to be way too short for school
1:58 Aaron & Jo are as bad as Dylan Matthews at this point with their attempts at bringing (ultimately unnecessary) murder into kids' movies to make them more interesting. 😅 To be honest, though? Their vengeful mermaid idea was actually not bad. 🧜♀️
