- This video is the detailed explanation of static and design eccentricity as per IS 1893:2016 Part 1 and also
describes the concept of accidental torsion and how the ETABS software implement those concepts while
designing a structure.

thanks for the tutorial....love from Bangladesh
Very well explained, and the code saying we must calculation design eccentricity for both static and response spectrum case but how are inputing the eccentricity for response spectrum case. In etabs there is option to enter in load case. Is ok take only maximum walls or there should be an additional response spectrum case for minimum value also.
Please share your thoughts
Thank you
Nice explanation. Can you make one lecture which explains how to reduce Static Eccentricities in buildings which have L shaped floor plans?
well explained thank you sir
Very good & informative..thank u🙏
Very nice explanation sir 👍👍
Nice explanation 😊
Nicely explained sir
What is the use of final value in etabs 5.2 or 6
Where we have to put this 5.2 value
How can I check this things in manually
Is it necessary to satisfy max disp/min disp
Great sir
Sir...while checking storey max over avg displacement in response spectrum Y direction it is displaying two values in X and Y and vice versa.....can I know the reason
The structure is not purely displacing along Y direction and vice versa
While doing responses spectrum method we have to provide manually design eccentric in load case of response spectrum please explain or request you to post a video for response spectrum method with eccentric calculation
Any update on this?
sir with the displacements taken as 11.48,16.76,6.196 for 3 modes, it shows that an eccentric value is taken at 1st then +- 0.05 in 2nd and third respectively, but the second mode displacement doesnt justify the Ed= 1.5*es+0.05b, the multiplicative factor 1.5 seems to be excluded, plz enlighten this sir?
yes there is no factor of 1.5. to incorporate we have to enter manually the eccentricity values. however as confirmed with various experts its just a very uneconomical way of design by taking 1.5
@@erzahidahmad8314 if there is two different dimensions in two grids of same direction, wether we have to take smaller or larger dimension as b???? in the formula of Ed.

@@erzahidahmad8314sir thank you , sir as in IS 1893 Part 1 , there’s two formula for design eccentricity ed= 1.5esi+0.05b or esi-0.05b ( whichever gives the most shear in frames as per code), now if we want to manually override the eccentricity in etabs , which formula shall we use among these above two ? We shall use the highest value of ed among the two which would obviously be 1.5esi+0.05b or shall we override and use both the eccentricity values defining the different load cases for the two different eccentricities?
what is the use of eccentricity overides? please explain
u can assign the eccentricity manually using that option...
AWESOME...
Thank you
If that value will come 10 or 12 then what's the mean . It's correct or not
You have nothing to do with the values here...
Torsional Irregularity or Modal irregularity will be checked after wards during Modal Analysis and Irregularity checks as per the code.
