30 years later the Pistons write off their loss to the Bulls in 91 as "them getting old." They didn't "get" old. They won the Championship in 89 & 90, They weren't on a decade run. Rodman won rings 7 years later... They didn't get old, they got beat.

If you have ever seen the footage of Jordan’s face when they passed him as they walked off of the court, it’s very clear that Michael was hurt. It’s all over his face. Who knows how much he really respected them or how he thought they would give him his props and or passed the torch. And a competitor like Mike would never admit it, but it’s plain as day.

I used to think like how this type of run just does never happen, so we're lucky to experience once it in a lifetime, or many actually. Most of that was because of having MJ, without him forget it. The recent drama with Scottie and MJ has me a little bit disgusted with Pippen, Jordans detractors are ridiculous, he was near perfect as he continued to learn the game. He was more of a hero than a player, what I remember he did it all when it counted. His earlier career is just an afterthought, he just kept getting better... No guys, you're missing one crucial point. Where were Bulls weaker in 1990? In the paint. So yes, Bulls "got better", but because of Phil Jackson, as always. He got rid of players who weren't physical enough, such as Ed Nealy (could shoot threes, but was unusable as rebounder), Jeff Sanders, Jack Haley, and replaced them with Cliff Levingston and Scott Williams. As a result Bulls ended up with no less than six centers/PFs: Cartwright, Grant, King, Perdue, Levingston and Williams. That's 36 possible personal fouls per game, guys! So they could outfight Pistons in 1991, something they couldn't do the year before. Not everything was with MJ - in fact it was much more with Phil. The reason why Bulls did worse in 1995 than in 1994 despite MJ returning was the absence of Horace Grant who left to Orlando. They were hollow in the paint for entire 1994-95 season. And then the league's best rebounder came aboard...

Bad Boys For Life!!! Y'all are greatest team Detroit has ever had Hands down! I remember when we use to work out against y'all at Wayne State University while y'all were waiting for the Palace to finishing being constructed. Coach Pain allowed me to play against y'all. I still remember chilling out with Isaiah in his Silver Cadillac Limousine oin front of the Wayne State University Gym. At that time Gary Hawthorne Was their star player and my best friend. Isaiah, do you remember that time back in the early eighties?

The Piston's are the least respected team that won a championship because they were dirty. If you have to play dirty to win then you suck. I have watched every championship since 1965. If you did the stuff they did it a pickup game there would be a fight.

As I recall, the security staff in Detroit ushered the Celtics off the court early for their own safety; the Celtics didn't walk off the way the Pistons did to the Bulls.

I'm kind of surprised many people didn't know this. Pistons fans rushed the court after after a victory, that's why the Celtics were taken off the court early.

@Layth Adrian good points but throughout nba history there have been champions that went downhill far and fast the following year or two. The 83 sixers and the recent GS warriors come to mind. Sometimes its age or injury or maybe both.

Not true, late 20s and early 30s was considered old in the NBA in the 80's. The games were much more physically demanding and fouls were much harder. Heck3 years earlier, when the Celtics lost to the Pistons, Larry Bird was only 31 or 32. The next year when the Lakers lost Magic was only 31. Playing deep into May and June year after year with how rough the game was, the players got older much quicker. If you don't like the word "old", then use "run down" because that's what it was.

Jordan's handshaking and good sportsmanship was a smokescreen and he had his brand and image to protect so he said the right things but he revealed his true feelings for the Pistons after they were up 3-0 in 91 playoffs and trashed the Pistons in the media and you think it's reasonable to expect a handshake after ripping the Pistons the day before you sweep them?

Yea this old head saw it but also believe the refs crossed the line by not calling a lot of stuff. Unfortunately the pendulum has swung and like you said, they call everything...and that technical foul rule...ask Draymond Green how he feels about that. All of the superstars would be ejected every night!
