  • This video was filmed using the Sony Handycam HDR-CX260V.
    We wanted to make a video demonstrating the KitchenAid Professional 600 capabilities, because we have been asked by many people what we use it for. This demo includes Mashed Potatoes (10 pounds), Meatloaf, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, White Bread Dough and Whipping Cream. We enjoy this mixer and use it much more than expected. It even has a space on our counter top. We highly recommend getting it!

    Heres a tip i learned working in a bakery, if you put the bowl in the freezer before you whip cream in it, it takes seriously just about a minute to whip cream. best trick ever!

    Thank you for your comment. We did look at the Artisan and was all set to purchase it, but after checking prices online we found we could the Pro 600 for the same price as the artisan was selling for locally. We also liked the fact that the Professional 600 uses metal gears vs. the plastic ones in the Artisan, it has bowl lift vs. tilt and has a more powerful motor. I didn't think I would need the Professional either, but I use it all the time.

    Nice video, thanks for sharing. I have a KA from 1989 and I still love it. I've seen some of the newer mixers by other companies, but mine still works like a charm, although I did read where KA had some problems in the 90s with motor burn-out, gears stripping, etc. Your machine looks like it performs really well and you're obviously getting good use from it.

    There is a handle that allows you to lift the bowl and lower the bowl. The lower watt model also has plastic gears where the 600 has metal gears or at least used too, not sure if it has changed since we purchased ours. We have not been disappointed with our mixer. I'm sure your wife would love either model. Tell her said Happy Birthday! :)

  • @YTRulesFromNM
    @YTRulesFromNM 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It's a really good but noisy mixer. It is great for making 3lbs of bread. If I used it more frequently I would want the Pro Line series mixer with the quieter DC motor.

    • @WeRmudfun
      @WeRmudfun  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have had it for a while, try adding grease to the gear. It will quiet it down a lot.

  • @WeRmudfun
    @WeRmudfun  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The mic on the camera probably does focus in on the sound, but the power of the mixer shortens the mixing time, the sound the mixer makes has not bothered me. When we did our research we also could not decide between the Artisan and the Professional. The gears on the Artesan are plastic, the Professional they are metal and for the amount of times I use this (a lot), this was important. For us this was the correct decision, I even recently bought an additional bowl. :) I do love my mixer.

  • @estherpeng3308

  • @rgruenhaus
    @rgruenhaus 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    great assortment of examples of how to use it. I would have liked to hear more of the speed changes. You talk about low medium and high, but this machine has specific speed numbers which can help in a recipe when it may over whip or not leave the lumps you like as in the mashed potatoes.
    Thank you

      I like the tilt feature as well, especially cookie batter so I can spin and gradually lift head to have batter spin off (careful not to spatter kitchen). I bought the lift stand for the bigger bowl for large amounts of flour for certain breads. I have only used it for double cookie batch so far. I have a 4.5 Classic which is very old and I think needs new grease.

    I’ve heard that because the motor doesn’t tilt up and back, it’s difficult to change attachments without removing the bowl. Is that true? I noticed you stopped recording whenever there was an attachment change.

    • @WeRmudfun
      @WeRmudfun  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Changing attachment is easy. If the bowl is full with potatoes, you might have to push the attachment into the mix to attach it. We didn't show the attachment change because the video was getting too long and it a simple thing to do. We had never had an issue changing the attachments, even after all these years using it. Hope this helps.😀

    it would be great to see all the hook and bowl changes it would have made this vid so much better. I just bought the pro but it hasn't been delivered. in talking with some people the one thing people pick the artisan over the pro is the lift bowl vs the lift head. i was hoping this would have made me feel better about my choice....

    • @WeRmudfun
      @WeRmudfun  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is all in personal perference. The 600 has a larger bowl and metal hooks vs the plastic ones on the Artisan, plus at the time the 600 had metal gears vs the plastic ones in the Artisan. We have not been dissapointed with our choice and that is not saying one is better than the other.

    I can honestly say that as much as I love my mixer I hate how annoying and loud it is. The higher the speed the worse that noise is. I have two tilt mixers from the late 50 and early 60s and they aren't even close to being loud.

  • @stevegordon5243

    I have the same model and was wondering if yours smells hot when mixing white bread dough for 10 mins (using 5 to 6 cups of flour). Mine does and has overheated and shut down once. Am afraid the gears will strip soon if I make bread dough too much. Have you had any issues? How often do you make bread dough?

    • @WeRmudfun
      @WeRmudfun  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No smells at all. We opened up the gear box once, because we were curious what it looked like under there. We noticed the grease was all to one side, so we spread it back around. The mixer ran better and slightly quieter. You might want to try that or add grease. Good Luck. :)

      I actually work for KitchenAid. It sounds like you may have the burnished aluminum beaters. After hand washing it is recommended that you get them very dry. Do not wash in dishwasher.

    how long does it take to form the dough from flour ? I wait for a good 15 mins and I don't see the dough get pick up at all. Do you know why is that? I use about 3 1/2 cup flour for basic bread recipe.

    • @WeRmudfun
      @WeRmudfun  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sounds like you don't have enough liquid to flour ratio. In the instruction and recipe book that came with my mixer, the basic white bread calls for...
      1/2 Cup Low Fat Milk
      3 Tablespoons Sugar
      2 Teaspoons Salt
      3 Tablespoons Butter or Margarine
      2 Packages Dry Yeast
      1 1/2 Cups Warm Water
      5-6 Cups of All Purpose Flour
      15 Minutes does seem like a long time. I hope this helps. :)

    • @ivyhays6006
      @ivyhays6006 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      WeRmudfun can it be because I don't put enough flour. I really don't think so. we are just 2 ppl family I don't need to make a big batch at all. I just this model is the one on sale at the time.

      Try sprinkling in small amounts of flour, this should help form it into a ball, if you think you have to much liquid. I sometimes have to do this with my dog cookie recipe. Good luck, let me know if that works.

    making one loaf of bread, start on no more than speed two. two loafs of bread don't go over speed two. mine worked fine for a little more than a year, just long enough to go out of warranty, then it broke some teeth on the gears, fortunately I was able to repair it at a small cost with the help of a couple of demo repairs on you tube. follow the directions in the manual or you will be sorry. PS, I used it to make bread at least once a week.

    I've been shopping for a KitchenAid mixer and I've been considering both the Artisan and Professional 600 mixers. One thing I'm concerned about is the noise level of the 600 models...it sounds like a loud, high pitched whine that's quite unpleasant. I've never heard either machine running outside of You Tube videos, is the sound on your video accurate?

    I would not recommend using attachments with the Pro 600 series ( other models with less power, for that matter). The gears can't take the stress. We used the meat grinder attachment. Stripped teeth off of one of the plastic gears and caused extensive wear on others which necessitated the replacement of all gears so that it would work. You're looking at $58 for replacement gears and 30 minutes of your labor if you do.
