Hey Josh... I have a true story for you. I was actually working as a 911 operator 18 years ago, and legitimately came down sick. There were so many call outs in my comm. center from folks who were not sick, that the Capt of the department came to my house ringing the doorbell at my front door, within an hour of me calling out. Believe it or not, he was checking to see if I was really sick. LOL. He didn't even send another deputy over to my house, but decided to visit himself. 😮 I staggered out of bed only to find my boss standing on my porch. 😂. He took one look at me, disheveled and in my robe, and knew it was legit. 😊
We had someone call out "sick" to attend a party the next county over. Our commander sent the local agency there to interrupt the party and let them know they are required to show up for work or get their reprimand. They did not show up that night. They did not show up the next night. The third day, they filed their resignation. I was lucky, we worked the same shift, so I was there my usual hours. But the person that they usually relieved was stuck working 16hr days that whole time. I get conflicted on it, because it's hard to get time off and all, we're always short, but also, it's important to be able to enjoy your time! But also... calling out and making your coworkers work doubles at the last minute is not only rude to your co-workers, but to the public. The longer the number of hours your first responders have worked, the less hospitable they get, the less accurate, the less focused...the more dangerous for emergencies 😮
@@kaydb42At the end of the day, the fault lies in a system that doesn't grant workers any rights or reasonable PTO. That's why it's so important to unionise instead of being pitched against each other like that. In Europe we get at least 25 days PTO per year, public health care and everything is running. We can even go to a party without someone trying to pick us up for work there.
Damn, that's crazy. We've done welfare checks on folks if they no-call/no-show, but usually we believe them. We had one guy call in with c*vid then posted pics on a beach. 🙄🙄
I was a 999 operator (UK version of 911) about 25 years ago - it's definitely not a job I'd recommend to young people, I heard DV actually happening, as well as being there with people as they saw someone close to them dying and other similar situations. But we did get people who called up just to talk. It was mostly lonely elderly people. I remember one old lady calling up to find out how long she should put her chicken in the oven for. I had to say "I'm sorry, I'm 19, and live by myself. I don't really cook full meals! 😁 As for tracking, if you call from a landline then the registered address and customer name appears on screen immediately, but they don't know that's who they're speaking to. You might also be calling for something that happened next door or down the street. One final thing that we had in the UK was that the opening greeting was pre-recorded. It was only a second or two, but it gave us enough time to open the "emergency call" window and make sure we weren't on mute. But it meant that if someone was talking as soon as they heard my voice I'd missed the first 2-3 seconds of what they were saying. 😔
I don't know how it's possible for one man to develop so much novel material in so short a time. But you'll never catch me complaining. Thank you for everything you do. ❤
I love this guy! I’m SO glad he doesn’t interact much with the audience and their sometimes obnoxious comments. It happens in almost every video. This one, you can hear a woman relaying to someone she’s with the story about the chicken wing thief. “I heard about this!! She… (intelligible), blah blah blah”. Now imagine you’re the person next to her but not with her and you just want to hear Josh and you can’t because she’s explaining something that he’s about to explain in his rendition. Ugh…. People need to start telling their friends “SHHH”l!!!”
just sinking in that this dude does mini specials every fucking week and i laugh everytime? that's incredible. wow... like i get the cringe comments now, maybe cause i'm high asf dk.
He’s legitimately great. I remember watching him on Comedy Central long ago. I dabble in the podcast every now and then too. Seeing how far he’s come is amazing. He’s one of the best stand up comedians we’ve had in a long time.

@@remytherat1357You don't know their relationship with faith, nor is it an act of good faith to demand repentance from a place of holy judgement. You do not get to decide what is and isn't a sin. You don't get to tell strangers that they are engaging in sin because you do not define what is and isn't sinful. You - are not God. Maybe you should take some time talking with the Lord about the hate you clearly have on your heart for people who are different from you.
I didn’t know it was possible, but somehow someone managed to spoil a Josh Johnson set. Muzzles should be provided for drunks, chatter boxes, and hecklers.
Not the lady who immediately goes "I saw that!" and starts telling her friend the whole lunch lady story instead of letting you just do it better and funnier lol. The audacity is on sale somewhere lol. Thanks for all the laughs.
Yeah, big problem I have with privatization of emergency call centers. Here, we call 911 and then THEY have to call the police and paramedics and shit from a corporate call center. It's fuckin weird.
@@GlennKurusu Yes, but think of the shareholders! The real emergency is running out of ways to make money by owning essential services and grinding them into dust!
One of the biggest problems with privatized health insurance is how little EMS gets paid by insurance companies. The lack of money gets passed down to the EMT’s, paramedics and dispatchers, creating an employment crisis in the industry; the number of people who are willing to deal with the stress of that job for the obscenely low pay is… insufficient to say the least It’s certainly far from the only problem with privatization, but it’s a pretty big one.
🤣 that somebodies in the house response of “it’s not you?” triggered TF outta me!! I was in a McDonald’s drive thru and they gave me a bag but it wasn’t all my order. So I sat there after she closed the window waiting and she came back to see what was wrong, I told her what was missing and SHE SAYS……: “it’s not in your bag?” …………. Fire ALL through me!!!!!! If it was in my bag, we wouldn’t be having this conversation!!! Just like if it was just me in the house, I wouldn’t be having the convo with 911! 😡😡😡😡🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

One time a friend of my mom's who lives in Florida had an iguana in her toilet. The Animal Control phone operator asked, "Do you know this iguana?" and she went, "...what?" The operator repeated the question, prompting her to go, "No. He doesn't go to my church, he's not in any of my college classes, he doesn't attend the spin class I go to, and he's not a part of my book club. I don't know him. We're not acquainted."
@bamboozled1668 I just had to deal with them over a package that was delivered... with a photo, but it wasn't my porch. That person said "are you sure it's not your house, did you look outside?" 🤬 like really?? I can tell it's not my house without being 9utsiide but yes... I cannot imagine how busy Josh is, as much as I enjoy every video, I really hope he is able to find some time to take care of himself as well. Thank you for the content :)
You have no idea how beneficial these videos are every week to me, especially due to my mental health. Thank you Josh. Cheers from Portland Maine. Fan since 2018!
Josh, you are sold out of every single show in all of the cities that you are coming to! I just had to put myself on the wait list for 2 cities. You are worth it! Thank you for providing us content until we get to a live show!❤❤❤
On the headset/headphone thing: I've worked in many (many) call centers. We can't wear the over-the-ear stuff because you get ear infections because we don't get enough breaks and we wear them for basically 8 hours straight. People still get ear infections from the little ones, and it's really hard to shake off an infection, because the boss is like, "Just wear it on the other side..." and it doesn't help. But yeah, someone needs to design a better headset.
As a gamer who would wear his over ears for days straight over the summer when i was a kid i never got one. It's gotta just be a airflow problem with certain over ears
@@swankshire6939 Stress can compromise the immune system so it's probably a lot easier for an infection to take in adult 911 operators than a healthy and happy kid playing games.
Josh, you bring me so much joy, thank you. I do have concerns about how I am going to manage when you are no longer sharing your amazing gift with us so often. It is so delightful and refreshing to hear you, young man.
Man your channel blew up so fast. I remember when I first saw your Catfishing the KKK routine and loved it so much I scoured TH-cam to find any more of your work. You're one of the few comedians I actually find funny, so having these sets uploaded here is a godsend.
Man I love how often you come up with new material, it's just wild. I love listening to your channel in the morning when I'm getting ready and your shows keep my brain alive during my long shifts at night.
As someone who just cannot afford or justify subscribing to multiple streaming platforms I thank you, Josh and team for all of this free content. I try to comment and watch a lot to boost your metrics. I've listened to EVERY episode of the JJS at least twice and stream it to fall asleep BC there are no ads. Truly amazing.
Hey happy birthday I’ve had two surgeries this summer, live in north Idaho as a liberal… all holed up at home feeling lonelier every month. Stumbling on these sets- especially first thing on a day like you mentioned.. can actually feel pretty special
I just lost my husband and am going thru the toughest season of my life. Thank you for this wonderful lighthearted comedy; it is a bright spot in my day. You are honestly one of the most talented stand up comedians I've seen in a long long time.
It is currently Wing Week in Portland (where different restaurants will have special wings they normally don't for a week), so this came out at the perfect time!
USA's 911 is the most integrated, and yet the most outdated emergency system in the world. GPS was invented in 1973. Smartphones started picking up in the 90s. The internet had mass adoption in the 2000s. Mobile apps are ubiquitous in the 2010s. AI are gaining commercial steam in the mid-2020s. And yet.... you still need to make a voice phone call to another human person in an emergency. Uber and Doordash could do a better job of getting information on what you need and dispatching them to "your exact location" in seconds! The military and spending BILLIONS on cutting edge tech. And NO ONE thinking "Hey! maybe 911 need an upgrade."
A man called Papa John’s to go and get to his grandmother’s house because it was flooded and she couldn’t get out and 911 “didn’t know how to get to her”. So 🤷♂️ it’s true
The sentiment that “you never know what someone is going through and what you might say that helps” is incredible when thinking of Josh Johnson. My Mom’s in hospice and it’s incredibly tough, but I can get through it with this man. Thank you Josh for being born and thinking as deeply as you do.
Guys if you're in an audience and notice someone is professionally recording their own show, don't talk near it please 🤫. It's Hella distracting hearing your comments while trying to watch the recorded performance. If you like to interact with the comedian, sit away from the equipment; be respectful
Especially if this is not your regular weird heckler audience type of interaction! Which the tok seems to like but I don’t - I feel sorry for Josh too, would make me so irritated
She got me huffing and puffing it seems like she had a separate converation during the show which was so distracting. The only acceptable excuse for me would be if she was there with a visually impaired friend and explained Josh's facial expressions to them, but I don't think that was it.
i feel like my life revolves around new josh johnson videos and old josh johnson videos i rewatched that diddy piece 10 times already i swear it's a lullaby atp
I need to just start sending my therapist's money to Josh. (And Taylor Swift, if I'm being fair). I'm going through a rough patch right now, and every time he posts a new video, I get 20+ minutes to just laugh and forget about stuff. It really does help to kind of "reset" things. Thank you for the dopamine hit, Josh. 🙏
I call it the Kurt Cobain Effect [2?]. Someone gets so big that the thing they get praised for their fame vs the actual content for what they're saying. I remember it when he said he was gonna talk about a serious topic and the audience praised him and he just looked shocked ans took a hard pause [like WTF] just before playing because i think he then understood that people weren't hearing him anymore for hos content but because he was famous. Perhaps I'll call it the Richard Pryor Effect because i think that happened to him too. People are waiting too much in anticipation to laugh that they begin to laugh prematurely. Perhaps, they are losing the plot to this guy's success. [Not to shame it]
@Theohybrid wow so right and smart comment it's changed my whole outlook on it I hope he doesn't get to big he's an amazing young man and I enjoy his comedy a lot
Josh drops “…with my girlfriend …” for the 1st time and I have to skip back 25secs to find out whatever it was that him and said girlfriend were watching.
I recently stumbled upon one of your videos, and I must say, I have been utterly engrossed by your content ever since; especially your political content. Your delivery is remarkably natural and distinctive, imbuing your performance with a sense of depth. It feels as if I am engaged in a personal dialogue, drawn further into your narrative. The random pauses and your subtle chuckles before delivering a "punchline" add a delightfully alternative storytelling element. Your shows offer a refreshing perspective on stand-up comedy that I hadn't realized I was yearning for. I sincerely hope that your talent reaches a wider audience. I am eager to extol your remarkable abilities and innovative approach to everyone I know. My next endeavour is to search your concert schedule in the hopes of finding Saskatchewan, Canada, on the list. I eagerly anticipate experiencing your live show! Until then, I will indulge in a marathon of your videos. Thank you for bringing such joy and delight!
Anyone from Detroit? I’m from Detroit, born and raised, and I had two guys try to robe me, my mom (RIP) and my then 10 year old daughter but he put the gun to my heart but I didn’t realize it and I pushed the gun down. My mom started screaming and they ran. We called 911 and they told me they weren’t coming for that. Seriously?? You aren’t coming for that?? And that’s one reason why I don’t live in Detroit anymore.

Josh!! Man you're such a relief!!! I have been loving stand up for SIXTY YEARS (so far) and some of them in the last 10 years or so have not made it easy. I know, I know, I'm too old school.. comedians used to only hit the wealthy, the powerful, the cruel, not the weak, not the already most suiciding groups of young people on the planet... and I have cut off favorites for that shitty sht.
😂😂😂I laughed out loud at this .
Damn, that's crazy. We've done welfare checks on folks if they no-call/no-show, but usually we believe them. We had one guy call in with c*vid then posted pics on a beach. 🙄🙄
"Somebody. Plus me," made me cry.
As for tracking, if you call from a landline then the registered address and customer name appears on screen immediately, but they don't know that's who they're speaking to.
Our world and the stories that develop daily are interesting and crazy to say the least. Josh is showing us he has material for days 😂😂😂 literally
Your username though...
Josh is turning out to be one of the great story tellers of our day!
ER doctor here!
Thanks for the laughs…
You are brightening my dull messy Friday on shift
just sinking in that this dude does mini specials every fucking week and i laugh everytime? that's incredible. wow... like i get the cringe comments now, maybe cause i'm high asf dk.
Thank you friend
I couldn’t have said any of that better❤💨
He’s legitimately great. I remember watching him on Comedy Central long ago. I dabble in the podcast every now and then too. Seeing how far he’s come is amazing. He’s one of the best stand up comedians we’ve had in a long time.
I can't understand how you can't respect this young gentleman. Hard working artist, I'm glad to see his decency and intellect be appreciated
Bro I'm really close with the comedy club in my town so I thought I could do stand up It took me a month to write 2 minutes this guy does a new 20 every week
Im a drag queen and had 2 shows last night, thank you for this gift to my weary mind Josh 🖤
Thank you for watching friend

Ayyy! I hope your shows went well! Get some rest. ☺️

OMG I HEARD THIS I HEARD ABOUT THIS. YES SHE HAD A SIDE BUSINESS.. bla bla bla. shhhhh
I didn’t know it was possible, but somehow someone managed to spoil a Josh Johnson set. Muzzles should be provided for drunks, chatter boxes, and hecklers.
BRO I WEAR THIS SAME LADY BE IN ALL HIS VIDEOS RECENTLY
Goddammit now I can't unhear
THey talk louder when the crowd laughs
Not the lady who immediately goes "I saw that!" and starts telling her friend the whole lunch lady story instead of letting you just do it better and funnier lol. The audacity is on sale somewhere lol. Thanks for all the laughs.
I have been putting together my 10 best Comedians list.
Josh just made my number 1.
13:47 the chatter that follow that statement made it seem like he announced it in a press conference
you are crushing it man, I've seen a lot of podcasters do weekly bits and be funny, but a weekly fresh standup set this consistently good is crazy
Yeah, big problem I have with privatization of emergency call centers.
Here, we call 911 and then THEY have to call the police and paramedics and shit from a corporate call center. It's fuckin weird.
The unfortunate thing is that it isn’t weird. Welcome to late stage capitalism
Why would anyone want to privatize emergency services?! Doing so could cost lives!
Oh, wait! They don’t want to pay taxes…. 🤦♂️(🤦🤦♀️).
Because the alternative is socialism. And that's evil. So sayeth we all. No matter the sacrifice!
Privatized 911?!?!? Where??? I didn't know that was a thing 😮
@@GlennKurusu Yes, but think of the shareholders! The real emergency is running out of ways to make money by owning essential services and grinding them into dust!
One of the biggest problems with privatized health insurance is how little EMS gets paid by insurance companies. The lack of money gets passed down to the EMT’s, paramedics and dispatchers, creating an employment crisis in the industry; the number of people who are willing to deal with the stress of that job for the obscenely low pay is… insufficient to say the least
It’s certainly far from the only problem with privatization, but it’s a pretty big one.
EMS professionals need to be paid more. Agreed.
9:02 “Speak up! I can’t hear you!” I was waiting for that line!! 😂😂😂😂
This man is killing me 😂 Someone….plus me! Is in the house!
That's like when my package didn't come & Amazon asked for proof 😭 Sent them a picture of my empty porch
@@bamboozled1668bruhhh I made a mistake of trying temu ONE time because I saw something cheap but nice for my dogs (nail trimmers and shaving kit) and I got one of them, actually nice tbh won’t lie but the other… never got it.
@@morganqorishchi8181😂 that’s kinda hilarious
@bamboozled1668 I just had to deal with them over a package that was delivered... with a photo, but it wasn't my porch. That person said "are you sure it's not your house, did you look outside?" 🤬 like really?? I can tell it's not my house without being 9utsiide but yes... I went outside to look at the neighbors porches.... they didn't have it either. Uh that was irritating. Lol.
You make this look effortless! Pure talent.
And new material all the time! 🤯
Josh Johnson doing the work of the Gods on a Saturday and I am here for it.
It's like he's picked a comedy uniform. Grey hoodie, dark jeans, it's Josh Johnson! Lol.
Josh is my new favorite comedian. I love what he has to say!
I cannot imagine how busy Josh is, as much as I enjoy every video, I really hope he is able to find some time to take care of himself as well. Thank you for the content :)

The commentary and side conversations during your sets always blow me.
There seems to be at least one female every time that is loud and obnoxious
Josh, you are sold out of every single show in all of the cities that you are coming to! I just had to put myself on the wait list for 2 cities. You are worth it! Thank you for providing us content until we get to a live show!❤❤❤

Bless you for your hard work 🙏🏽 (and your marketing 😅 ).
@@whiteraven181 have you been in call of duty lobby circa 2000s?
Josh, you bring me so much joy, thank you. I do have concerns about how I am going to manage when you are no longer sharing your amazing gift with us so often. It is so delightful and refreshing to hear you, young man.
Man your channel blew up so fast. I remember when I first saw your Catfishing the KKK routine and loved it so much I scoured TH-cam to find any more of your work. You're one of the few comedians I actually find funny, so having these sets uploaded here is a godsend.
If 911 was a business they would know where you are and hit you with an ad pertaining to your emergency🙄😁😆
May we talk about your extended 911 emergency policy?

Happy Birthday! I hope you have an amazing weekend!
Woot woot!!! So happy to wake up and see this on my feed! Thanks Josh!!
I worked in dispatch for a sheriff for 3 year years... Can confirm it is the hardest job!
Each time you post, it's a treat!
I think you mean cell phones started being picked up in the 90s
We are a third-world country in first-world clothes

Which the tok seems to like but I don’t - I feel sorry for Josh too, would make me so irritated
but SHE HEARD ABOUT THAT!
That was so annoying
She got me huffing and puffing it seems like she had a separate converation during the show which was so distracting. The only acceptable excuse for me would be if she was there with a visually impaired friend and explained Josh's facial expressions to them, but I don't think that was it.
My dude it’s probably assigned seats/ tables.

[Not to shame it]
I think it's the way he says things, it makes people giggle because they're expecting the joke
