One of the things that i have heard a lot from drummers learning Neil's work is "damn this is tough but so much fun" it shows me that Neil really loved his instrument and found challenge's delightful and fulfilling thus every piece was a masterpiece. I think Neil would just be grinning ear to ear knowing she had this much fun with this song.

This is someone who is phenomenally talented, incredibly practiced, but who just LOVES doing it too. Rare glimpse at an artist loving to play. That moment at the end when her tongue comes out and she’s going for it is ALL OF US when we play new music. This is why all of us do it. VIBE.

I grew up in Ireland and never heard a single Rush song, even though I was always into music and even played bass in a band for a while.
Then about 5 years ago I happened upon a video of a girl playing a bass cover to a strange song called YYZ.
That was my introduction to the Rush rabbit hole, and I haven't left the burrow since.

Rush came about in a time when bands released a new album nearly every year and toured behind it from anywhere between 3-4 months to 6 months or a year. If Rush is introduced to a younger audience it’s going to be through their parents, siblings, friends but most likely here TH-cam or other relevant social media platforms.🤘🖖✌️🥁🎸🎤🎹

That song had a certain feel that someone with a musical brain like her can pick up on. Some parts just felt necessary like the 6/4 feel kind of demanded a certain bass/snare pattern and she felt it right away.
Just a great song and I’m gonna have to look up Mars Volta

gotta give just a little love to the Ged - he lays down some pretty good rhythm on the bass/vocals - that's gotta help a little (learning bass myself - so I'm biased - these vids keep me inspired to keep practicing at a 'late' age -mid 40s). But what an amazing drummer! I'm definitely going to be adding Mars Volta to my playlist!

A couple of things, first off she’s German. I don’t know how popular they are over there. Secondly, if you’ve ever been to a Rush show (been twice) it’s a bit of a sausage party. Woman do not like Rush.

Andrew Rooney has a great drum channel, quite good himself, somewhere in 40s, never heard of Rush.

As someone else pointed out "She’s a classically trained orchestral percussionist and daughter of an opera singer and then went into jazz" also she's German, and not unfamiliar with Neil, just hasn't heard all his music. Maybe what you buy or don't doesn't matter. Whether it's believable to you only means anything to YOU, trust me, no one else gives two shits about your opinion on anything.

Same here. I think the Drumeo guys, as awesome as they are, approach it as a show. Nothing to do with Germany. I am German musician and I know Rush since about 1980. It might be a generation thing, if anything.

A young, gorl, from opera and Jazz background.. missing Rush totally plausible.
I’m American and grew up in Led Zeppelin, Rush, etc. I had never heard of King Crimson which is a huge band in prog rock. I’m 50 years old and just learned of them this year. Had no clue. But they’re huge.

She’s awful. Her reaction to the original was so emotionless. 😂😅

That song had a certain feel that someone with a musical brain like her can pick up on. Some parts just felt necessary like the 6/4 feel kind of demanded a certain bass/snare pattern and she felt it right away.
Just a great song and I’m gonna have to look up Mars Volta

Oh check TMV, you are in for a treat! They are really creative and explorative but yet, you will find classic progressive rock everywhere, jams, punk, weird, time signatures, epicness, noise, amazing vocals, atonals, and ALL of their drummers are out of this world too. They are a hard swallow first time. But oh boy..
If you like big rock riffs and vocals, orchestra like, the whole Frances the Mute album is from start to end an incredible journey.
