Most of the Israeli military hardware atre cutting edge. And they are not afraid to share their innovations with India.
To avoid getting sanctioned by the US if we buy too many Russian weapons. There is nothing inherently special about Israeli weapons, especially when Russian weapons would do as well. India already has a ready supply chain and production facilities for a lot of Russian weapon and parts, so any new purchase would even end up being more economical in the long term. Since Western (and Israeli) defence companies don't want to compete fairly, they resort to threats of sanctions.
Radical islam and islamic terrorism are the common enemies of both nations.
As an Israeli, I am very happy about the ties between India and Israel...

Prophet Moses and Jesus are set to be buried in Kashmir..King Manu shares the story of saving people from a big flood with a big boat or arch. He is buried in India near Ayodhya and is said to be revered both by Hindus and Muslims and is prayed for during child birth, marriage etc. We both celebrate the Purim and Holi festival of colors one day apart each year. Jews follow the lunar calendar if am right and different Hindu communities follow both Solar and Lunar calendars respectively..

These are some common ones: jews temporarily abandoned swastika and both hindus use swastika in our temples and homes from time immemorial. Swastika was found on Jewish temple from a very long time as per Rabbies. We both celebrate festival of lights and festival of colors. Especially Purim and Holi 1-3 days apart and the festival of light 1-2 months apart each year. Majority of Hindus follow lunisolar calendar and Jews follow Lunar calendar. There are some more but let me share one small ones too. Jewish names like Anita / Aneta, Maya, Ameet / Harry all have similar corresponding Indian named too Anita / Anitha, Maya( meaning illusion or magic), Amith / Amit, Hari pronounced differently though but changes can happen in a name and practices in a thousand or more years of persecution/ loot Etc. There are lakhs of priestly people in India as well just like Israel. We also dance with our rath just like you dance with the holy torah procession...We use Tantra as a way of worship especially the yogis and when a temple is supposed to be built and you call it sacred geometry and meditate on it too. We believe in one god just like the jews, just like Moses was given commandments, our ancestors have been worshipping idols of different gods who manifested as incarnations of god or as a spiritual essence as spiritual gurus. We just dont worship only idols we honour and pray to everything of gods creation like animals, weapons or cars and vehicles on Vijaya dashami. We look at oneness in everything and worship everything of gods creation. Although the complete oneness practices have been lost in history after invasions, conversions from Dutch, Portuguese, french, British and Mughals.

During the exodus of Jews, India was one of the nation that accepted them wholeheartedly. India is among one of the few places where there were no Antisemitism. Jews were able to live and prosper and practice their religion in peace. Even today we have Jewish synagogues in Souther states of India. And even after the formation of Israel some of them stayed back in India and they still live here in harmony and peace. And I have heard many Israel people calling India home of their ancestors. So i think these sentiments too play a major role. ❤️

After 1992 our relations took off and the aid during the 1999 war when India faced sanctions from the US and other countries because of the 1998 Pokhran nuclear test, was something else. Israel was pressured by the US into delaying the supply and had arms shortages but nevertheless, supplied the ammunition and weapons on time and after that also gave us laser guided bombs. Israeli director general in the Israeli defence ministry said ‘Tell us what you need and whatever we can supply, we are ready to supply. We can negotiate prices and other things later.’ Kargil solidified our ties with Israel.

Don't forget the longest 'serving' prime minister Nehru. He would have supported Palestine even after the continued backstabbing from their side. He wanted a separate Hyderabad state, not just the Hyderabad city mind you, a Hindu majority state to become another Islamic state after Pakistan. Hyderabad 's Nizam was about to be recognised as an independent nation and get UN membership. Thanks to one of his usual long foreign trips, Deputy PM Sardar Patel could act on behalf of him and thus ordered a military operation against Hyderabad and called it police action to signify that Hyderabad was Indian territory.
And thanks to PM P V Narasimha Rao we could establish formal relationship with Israel against his party's wishes.

We are the same people lost in history....no one has researched why do we have Swastika as common symbol both in our temples and culture. Although it was temporarily abandoned by Jewish elders after holocaust, they want to bring it back slowly.Israel helped India at crucial points in the three wars and India stands indebted with love and gratitude for this help and many more collaborations which probably may not be spoken in the media. I think David Ben gurion and Golda knew that we are the same people. Israel looks at every aspect of its connection with hawkish eyes. Israelis are very shrewd negotiators and its very unlikely that they would help anyone unless they knew we are the same people especially when our Prime Minister back then did not support Israel rather stood for Palastine because of Muslim vote politics for nearly 50 years. Narasimha Rao was responsible for making our diplomatic relations public from 1993 after officially recognising Israel even though we always had back hand communication and connections with Israel and it was taken to the next level by Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Modiji. We felt the same warmth when the beloved PM of Israel Netanyahu welcomed Modiji with Israel may Swagat hai mere dost - Welcome to Israel my (dear) friend..!

Yes, ISRO's lunar mission ( you may know it as Chandrayaan-3 was entirely handled by a senior woman scientist, she was the team lead and responsible for the mission, the women participation in STEM is still not at desirable standards but thigs are changing rapidly. The spacy agency has many more missions in the pipeline, so we may see drastic shift in women's participation in the coming years. Hopefully, thanks for being curious though, it feels good when people are genuinely interested to know things and not make a biased assumption (because I've had first hand experience of how western media manipulates India's achievements)

The Indian agency in question is ISRO. And they have many amazing things planned- sending probe to Venus, sending people to space, having their own space station, second mission to Mars and fourth mission to moon. And yes, ISRO has a lot of woman scientists. I guess it will soon have a woman as its Director. The current one, S. Somnath, is a genius though.

People needs to understand that India support Israel because when India was fighting Pakistan in 1971, no Muslim country was supporting India. Well said. But the problem is, Israeli elites and its politicians don't want a two-state solution despite how it could bring peace. A constant state of war is profitable to not only divert attention away from internal issues and gain American military aid but also gives them the chance to make their weapons more lucrative by making them combat proven. Not to mention Right wingers like Itamar Ben-Gvir want hostilities and are using it to facilitate US arms sales to its civilians. What is needed is Israel taking a new political approach with the aim of long term peace but that's unlikely and contradicts with the Western aspects of their culture that they share with the US and the West.

Good to know guys Huge love and respect for our Israeli friends. My observation is based on my visit to Israel in month pf Dec-23 visited Tel Aviv and Haifa explored markets and street food interacted with locals and understood how much they know about India.

Indian leadership did not recognise Israel as a country officially for a long time and only allowed to open an Embassy in or after 1991 after Narsimha Rao ascended the throne as the PM. He deserves credit for bringing India Israel friendhship in to mainstream. Israel helped India with weapons despite having objections from the US across all our wars with Pakistan except 1948. Some amount of credit goes to Atalji and a big chunk to solidifying indo Israel friendship than calling it just a strategic partnership. Best wishes to Israel.
