India is the largest economy among the British colonies. It has historically been a significant trading partner of the U.K. The large Indian diaspora living in the U.K also makes it a familiar market for Indian companies.
Since India’s spending power is increasing, it is actively looking for companies to invest in and bring new technologies to its people. At the same time, the U.K has been facing severe economic crisis, for many years now, makes it quite a cheap market for Indian companies to put their money in.

The main reason by far is actually to keep in track of the technological advancements. It is the reason why India lost and was colonised. The tech insight is the driving force. Then there is the established market entry. If you wanna gauge the scope of tech advancement, the Indians gained, one needs to see 2 Indian cars Tata Indica and Tata Altroz, one prior buying JLR and post purchase, the former was blown out of water by Maruti-Suzuki Alto while the latter is making Maruti-Suzuki Baleno sweat profusely. I'm a bit car-nerd, but the argument holds.

      BS 😂😂😂
Most of the 18th-19th century India was dominated by the Marathas aka Maratha Empire(1645-1843). Marathas and some other states which had their own military-industrial complex, were in no way technologically weak and inferior to the Europeans. They had lots of Westerners working for them as part of their politico-military bureaucracy and civil administration.
The reasons for the British gaining political & economic control of most of the Indian Subcontinent, are complex. Primarily, they were lack of strategic thinking at some crucial points on time, political fracturing, political instability and lack of unity. Marathas lost because of their own internal rivalries, conflicts and civil wars. This is what caused Brits becoming masters of the Subcontinent.
But still they didn't managed to rule over all of India and Indian Subcontinent. As states like Nepal remained independent from the British rule.

    • @akbrahma7739
      @akbrahma7739 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@RR-pc7yv Your points conflict to each other. It's true that the Maratha Empire overwhelmingly dominated the Indian landscape, but if one "empire" dominated then how can it be fractured, that means it was more like a confederacy under the Chhatrapati, and not an empire. You said that Marathas hired many Westerners, to improvise the army, exactly my point, they were reliant on Western tech, which is why they hired Western experts and couldn't create an indigenous weapons industry at par with the Europeans. Thirdly, the Mughals were using heavy 500 pounders which if targetted could blow the enemy to smithereens, the Marathas who were superb cavalry hired ex Mughal artillerymen to supplement the lack of it. But the Mughal artillery was heavy and to carry it was a logistical nightmare. Meanwhile the light horse drawn European 20 and 50 pounders could be easily deployed quickly moved and was versatile, which got the Europeans an edge over the Indians.

As a result, Maratha Empire declined in the early 19th century. But still its politico-military structure lasted until 1843 and Maratha states were Princely States of British India and lasted until their very accession to the Indian Union in 1948-50 (Indore state of the Holkar Marathas). The titles of their rulers formally/officially lasted until the abolishment of the privy purses by PM Indira Gandhi's socialist government in 1972. Informally and socially, the status of Maratha rulers still exists and still remains the same among the masses. Especially for their former subjects and people who still love, revere and respect their monarchs.
When Maratha Empire was founded in 1645 by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, it was an absolute monarchy. During the Mughal War(1680-1707), Marathas Sardars acted as a headless hydra and managed to defeat Aurangzeb's Mughal army despite the latter being the most powerful & wealthy Turkish Isl@m!c polity in the world.
The case of absolute monarchy remained the same but after Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj ji(until 1750s). With the rise of Holkars and Shindes to prominence and Peshwas becoming like what Rana PMSs became in 19th century Shah dynasty-ruled Nepal. But still, the ultimate loyalty remained to the Maratha Emperor and Peshwa. There are numerous occasions on which most of the Maratha Empire's factions have stood as one. Be it the Mughal War(1680-1707), Wars with the Nizam & Brits in the 18th century, etc. So all this is what turned the Maratha polity into a complex entity which many people still fail to understand. The Confederacy phase (although roots of it go back to the time of Peshwa Bajirao I in 1720s-39), only came after the death of Peshwa Madhavrao in 1772. The real trouble began after 1795, when there was a vacuum in the senior politico-military leadership of the Marathas. Then wars took place between the Holkars & Shindes alongside Peshwa. This is at this point, the Brits entered the scene in 1802 and inflicted blows on the Marathas by exploiting their differences and divisions. The Holkars still managed to the inflict some of the most humiliating and disastrous defeats ever suffered by the British in India. But unfortunately, the Marathas still remained divided. Rest is history.
Anyways, the point was about the technological inferiority. This is not true. As remember, we are talking about the 18th century not the 20th century. Marathas and other polities like their tributary vassal state aka Sultanate of Mysore(1783-99) and Maharaja Ranjit Singh ji's Sikh Empire(1799-1849), were in no way technologically inferior or weak when it comes to military. In fact, Marathas and Majha Punjabis possessed better arms and artillery than even the sepoy army of the British EIC. British historians and contemporary Western writers have written about the armies of the Marathas. The Maratha troops were in no way inferior to the British troops and were equal if not superior to them. Marathas at that time, had the most powerful and largest military-industrial complex in 18th-early 18th century India. This wasn't the case with other Indian states. This military-industrial complex produced arms, armaments and ammunition which was on par and even better than the Brits and that of the other European powers. General Lake, Arthur Wellesley aka Duke of Wellington, etc. All of them admired and praised the Westernised Maratha Army of Shindeshahi Maratha state. Marathas had the largest number of Europeans and Westerners working for them as part of their politico-military bureaucracy and civil administration. This wasn't the case with any other independent & pre-Brit era entity in India. Even the French thinkers like Robespierre and Napoleon Bonaparte admired Marathas and their prowess. I know all this because I've been studying Maratha history since last 7-8 years from various sources. Mostly online ones. 17th-early 19th century period of history is one of my favourite periods of history. I love the 18th century history. Both European and Indian ones.

      "You said.....Western tech".
Yes, because the Europeans were the ones who developed these as one of the best weapons of those times. Marathas, just like the other entities, use to import and bought lots of European weapons since the 17th century. The Qing Chinese, Imperial Japanese, Ottomans and Afsharid/Zand/Qajar Persian states did the same, at that time. What Marathas did and achieved much earlier than any of these above mentioned entities(including the Russian Army of the 18th century). For example:- The Maratha artillery modernized in 1752 with French engineers was better than Russian and Ottomans at the time, at par with Britain and France.
Whole world learns and take lessons from each other. Otherwise, the early firearms were developed by the Chinese. It was either the Indians or the Chinese who developed gunpowder which laid the foundation for all such innovations by Europeans. The same Europeans who use lots of stuff today which has its origins and roots in India.
Initially, Europeans were hired. But later Indians came in and learned. Marathas began to produce their own 'European weaponry' on their own. Just like the Imperial Japanese and others. So all these facts prove your early and original assertion that Indians were technologically weak aka inferior to Europeans, is wrong and factually incorrect. The research and development + advancement in the field of science comes when there is long term peace and stability in the country and society. When there are centres of learning aka universities and schools. This wasn't the case with the Isl@mic polities of Medieval India. Mughals were no patrons of science and education(except for Madrassas which produce zero scientists & thinkers). The tiny independent Hindu kingdom in Kerala produced more mathematicians than entire Mughal Empire. Mughals even rejected Printing Press like the Ottomans. But this wasn't the case with the Hindus of Portuguese dominions and those of Bombay who embraced and began setting up their own Printing Press in the 17th century itself.

@@akbrahma7739 As I said, Marathas had the most powerful military-industrial complex in 18th century India which manufactured and produced flintlock muskets and European-styled cannons to arm their brigades of troopers trained in Western-style by both Indian and Western military trainers and officers. So they did created a successful indigenous weapons industry which was on par with those of Europe. Even the Ottomans and Afsharid/Zand Iran didn't achieve this feat.
      "Thirdly......logistical nightmare".
I'm not aware of any ex-Mughal artillerymen in Maratha service but I do know that the early Pindaris(a class of rag-tag men-in-arms whose job was to indulge in looting, pillaging, harassing a retreating or routed enemy force and to indulge in scortch earth tactics) who were used extensively by Holkar and Shinde Maratha factions in mid-18th to early 19th century period; were ex-Mughal troopers. I also know that there were a few Turks/M0slims in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj ji's army and navy who were later kicked out or sacked from their positions. Other than this, I dunno about any ex-Mughal artilleryman hired by Marathas for teaching them operating an artillery gun, something which they already knew from a long time.
Actually, there are many misconception regarding the use of firearms and artillery in India and gunpowder warfare in India. Portuguese were the ones who introduced firearms and cannons to India in late-15th century. The armies in Deccan (including those of Maratha warriors in service of both the Deccan Sultanates and Vijayanagara Empire) were the first ones in India, to use cannons and muskets. So Marathas were in no way ignorant and clueless about muskets and other firearms.
Many people wrongly believe that it was Babur and Mughals who were the first ones to use gunpowder weapons in India in 1526. Now this is pure ignorance and a myth.
True that in comparison with the Mughals, the Marathas stood no chance. Mughals were superior in terms of both the wealth & resources and militarily too. The Mughals had superior firepower and logistics. As you've pointed out that the Mughal artillery was a logistic nightmare. This logistic nightmare + various other factors was among the resaons why Marathas and their superior strategy and tactics prevailed over Mughals in 17th-18th century period which resulted in the end of Mughal rule and the rise of Marathas in India. Even Napoleon was also an admirer of the Maratha cavalry.
But again there was nothing special about such 500 Pounder Mughal cannons. As such cannons were used by many in India at that time. For example:- The largest such early 18th century Indian cannon on wheels is Jaivana cannon of Jaipur Rajasthan which was made by Kachhwaha Rajputs of Amber. It's range is at least 10 Kilometers. Marathas neither needed such large size cannons. So they didn't used such guns. But they used lots of artillery guns of various sizes in navy and forts.

If Britain does become the largest manufacturer of vaccines, it will be because of expertise. In the end, it doesn’t matter which individuals own businesses because the state will benefit anyway through taxes and employment. It is to Britain’s advantage for investment to come from anywhere. If you like what the modern world gives you, with all its advantages, then there is a positive, and should there be a recognition that Britain and others were not simply just exploiters but creators too?
