I'd make it a belt feeding backpack, that allows for longer time for firing the mg, but has a heat limit (and depending on the planet temp, it will change its threshold). Overheating is a risk that might break the weapon in you keep firing it, then have to call in a new one. If you have a two-team crew on it, then you can have the secondary player dous the barrel with their water canteen, assuming Helldivers have those.
Yeah what's funny is I'd actually accept that cuz I've been using the HMG just religiously like anytime I play and gets any front. I use the HMG of a supply backpack and if you feed that thing and you fire it from the hip and you know not be a child you could use that thing on anything. It's absurd so if they just made it backpack fed already I'd accept that
I can picture a statagem where you call in temporary air support to lay down autocannon or machinegun fire - that would be a cool way for players to gain some air superiority. I also think something like an FPV type drone would be interesting to see as well. Maybe they could be used for spotting POI's/objectives, or as an explosive device. Also, I'd love to see a D-Day type mission where you have to drive a boat to infiltrate a heavily fortified base. Maybe they could even have a water planet that has islands and different types of facilities spread across the map. It'd be fun to infiltrate something like an oil rig, set a timer on a bomb, and escape just in the nick of time. A warbond surrounding this would be awesome too, and maybe the theme could revolve around stealth?(Shadow trooper typer armor would be amazing) Also It would be pretty funny to see some type of backpack that deploys "floaties" to help helldivers get around not being able to swim. Just some food for thought. I can't wait to see what badass stuff they're cooking up next!

Hear me out, a minigun strategem with one spare mag and with mid armor penetration that you unlock at level 20 or something like that would go hard. Now hear me out again, a gatling gun strategem that will take an backpack slot with like 1.000 to 5.000 rounds in the backpack while having heavy armor penetrantion and higher damage then the minigun but the downside is that the backpack is the mag and it's tied to the gatling so you have to sacrifice your own backpack slot to even use the gatling and the only way to reload is to find ammo packs, resupply packs or a new backpack would also go hard. Also i think you should unlock the gatling gun at level 25 or something like that.

If they actually do decide to implement the Power Armor idea, I think that should specifically only be a special kind of armor. You know -- something where the developers should balance it out by making it so that you have more health and strength but less speed and slower reflexes or something. Don't want to abuse that idea and give players too much of an unfair advantage like they did in PlanetSide 2...

2 other things I'd like to see are a stealth backpack stratagem (renders you completely invisible for a period of time before having to recharge), and a high magnification set of binoculars (perhaps with the ability to highlight enemies) as a secondary. I think both of these would help make stealth more viable.
I would be more than happy if they added the CMC Combat Armor from Starcraft without any change. Could have it so it comes down with a minigun or you can use your regular arms, but I want to be able to punch alpha bug commanders in the face and ‘em.

The first one will definitely happen, or should at least. because Super Earth already took some of illuminates technology before and made it from a cure to cancer to a bio weapon.
the first game had a teleporting ability you could equip like a booster that would teleport you once you took lethal damage and it was made from reverse-engineered illuminate technology, i think the shields were too

Instead of a minigun, how about making the HMG feed from an ammo backpack? Its already effectively a backpack weapon since you have to bring ammo.
