  • I'm in the process of building a "keezer," or deep freezer kegerator, for work. In this video I show you the process of building the collar that goes on top of the freezer.
I'd never heard of a keezer before, but a friend inspired me. The purpose of the collar is to deepen the freezer but more importantly to allow you to drill holes for the shanks without damaging the freezer itself. The design is fairly simple. I used 1"x6" pine for the walls and 1"x2" pine for the trim on top and bottom. I filled the gaps with spray-in foam to maintain some insulation. I cut out a window of sorts on the interior of the collar to later drill the holes for the shanks. The reason behind this was to avoid having to run the shanks through the thickness of both the full collar and the exterior of the keezer, and to avoid having to drill through the spray-in insulation.
So far it's turning out pretty awesome. Subscribe and stay tuned for Part II!

Wow, this is awesome. I just slapped 4 pieces of wood together and glued it to the top of my freezer.

I'm looking for someone to explain what they're doing, why and how. I don't want a disco in a workshop. Switching off.
