Colin Mcnutt really changed this drumline in the best way possible with his writing. Boston Crusaders are now one of the best drum lines in dci now.
I love how the entire corps went from 12th to 5th in just a few years

They really meant quality audio. I was at this lot (the guy who keeps screaming stupid shit during the lot was drunk at the time and used to teach me) and it sounds just the same.

Is it just me or do their triplet rolls sound cleaner than literally anyone else?

I was just thinking that. I mean most of this video is super clean. There are some barely fuzzy spots. But every single triplet roll they play, especially the fast low ones, are literally perfect. Some of the cleanest rolls I've probably ever heard.
This originally came up on autoplay but I ended up watching it like 5 times, sick beats played well
I definitely believe a good drum line also relies on amazing drums, not to trash on system blue drums but they have not done blue devils any justice, these Yamaha drums just bring out the best sound possible with this line
I think yamahas have the best sounding drunkline instruments
An honest question: why does everyone seem to hate System Blue? My director makes fun of them sometimes, but have not figured out why.
@@decafbountiwack3658 most people just believe they don't have the best sound because of the build materials. I don't know, they're still new to the market and Ludwig bought the drums, so we'll see how they change going forward

It's amazing how drumline members can hear at all! But the loudness sometimes makes it more exhilarating to listen to

Another cool thing about this line, consider that United Percussion (WGI) in the lot is really loud, now at 2:12 you could feel how heavy the quads must feel with those attacks, all that loudness and they are still clean as heck

Anyone else sees the connection of Mcnutt leaving the Cadets in 2015 and the fact that they’ve had ehh shows since? The Cadets 2015 finished 4th and the drum book pretty much elevated the show. In the 3 years McNutt has been in Boston he has elevated the corps to a contender. Of course they have to sort out their other captions too

Just learned the learn the music for their tenors. Why did so much of it get watered down? They were doing it well early season.
A lot of things I assume, consistency and sound tend to be the main issue. But who knows! Did really well regardless though imo

Alright so it’s kinda weird to explain but it’s more based on relaxing the fulcrum in the left hand and then letting the stick bounce after being hit by the other stick

My mans is just relaxed that all ... gotta be comfortable if you’re gonna play such and intense book. They’ve been playing this for several months (yea i get it, rewrites and etc.) so it’s muscle memory for him.
This is bad to the bone rhythmically. Would really like to see these younger generations actually playing THROUGH the head and creating some thunder. But kudos.... there is some good stuff happening here.

Colin ALWAYS has great lines with chop busting beats. But please don't ever make them wear these costumes again. DCI has been getting very cringe with them lately. It's almost like they're mad at the performers and they want to embarrass them.
