This drumline was by far my fave to watch this summer. The intent of every note, the clarity in every ping, gawk, shot, and just the overall clarity of some brilliant writing. Not too mention the overall just "beastly" approach.
One of those books that strikes the balance of notes perfectly. You can tell the difference when every note feels purposeful. And can we talk about how good the tuning is across the board
I'm reasonably young but I thought the tuning sounded beefy. Can see why you'd dislike it it's obviously not standard. To each his own I guess. Not sure how well the tuning would cut through the mix though
I was literally about to say have you never watched 2009’s line? Sheesh. This line is just as good but nowhere near as powerful as that one (you can partially blame that on beddis’ line’s technique involving so much mf downstroking lmfao)
Such a unique book with great vibes. Not the most technical, but I'm amazed by the energy they carry through the entire thing and the fact they the are playing clean rolls while dancing the entire time! I normally sleep on Crown drumline (although I know it's always been good), but damn this year they really came out on top for me. They really sold the feel of this book.
Fletcher Myhre late reply but, yeah they’re pretty much crown indoor. Their etudes are the same for the most part and a ton of the current performers on this line were in mason the indoor season prior to this summer.
great job keeping together when playing especially at those choppy parts, keep your sustained doubles together, and keep your visual movement together, another thing that can make a huge difference is when you are finished playing, don't immediately fall apart and put your sticks away on your time, it should go freeze, sticks down/ behind the back, into one hand then away, freeze then it's on your own time. or a variant of that concept. GREAT JOB BASSLINE
Clean
One thing I am certain of watching this fabulous performance is that You All Have Motorcycling Experience Too!!!!!!

Personally not a fan of the tuning but the book is nice
I also dislike Cam's tuning
funny_monke6 worst tuning in DCI hands town
Lmao no sir, tuning is not great, especially quads. Was impressed with the hands though

These guys look and play like a pack of wolves. So primal and angry. I love their theatrics. Man, definitely in top 10 dci lines of this decade. CMFC!
Girls locker room: "Jeez Tony is kinda hot tho..."
Boys locker room: 1:05

People are gonna remember this group for a long time. 2018 is the year Crown Drums turned the corner.
They've been on the up since 2015. I think they turned the corner in 2016 and just kept going.
@@Queeze101 dude AMEN
Pretty sure 13 is the only "bad" line theyve had and they weren't even that bad. 2009 is a pretty solid year imho
I was literally about to say have you never watched 2009’s line? Sheesh. This line is just as good but nowhere near as powerful as that one (you can partially blame that on beddis’ line’s technique involving so much mf downstroking lmfao)
I will say I have been impressed by how clean they’ve been the last few years. Hannum has stepped it tf up.
The rim clicks are so crisp and I love what they did with the feature there as well with the choreo. These guys are T O P.
Best ping shots in dci 2018
When you stub your toe I’m the middle of the night but can’t scream 8:13
You made my fucking day 🤣
Don’t let anyone tell you practicing grids isn’t important... 5:16
waited so long for this video
A drum line like this just fills me with so much happiness. I’ve waited for this for so freaking long, dude.

IMO the best part of the Crown package this year.
Idk if it’s just me but these guys sound a lot stronger than the crusaders final “in the lot”
They have a really mature sound
i disagree, i think it’s how they tune but it sounds dirty no matter what they play. that’s just me though
As a huge BD fan, I absolutely love crown. Their style and tuning is just amazing.
Shout out to my boys Zach and Cam! Best Crown drumline in a long time.
They redeemed their self’s in 2015, they brought it home this year, past years they haven’t been very clean.
RYAN RUTH are you sure about that
Josh Fleming since 2015 they’ve been good but before that they were like actually dirty
Isn’t GMU drumline associated with crown? Bc gmu does the same piece at the beginning
Fletcher Myhre late reply but, yeah they’re pretty much crown indoor. Their etudes are the same for the most part and a ton of the current performers on this line were in mason the indoor season prior to this summer.
yes they are. Center 2 quads, 4 of the snares, and bottom 3 basses all marched GMU.
Insane year for Crown battery, what are the aux. instruments on the basses?
Ribbon Crashers
Damn look at those l e f t h a n d s. Beastly indeed
Does anyone know if and where I can find the music for the the first warm up they play
Its in the audition packet
Someone should transcribe this first exercise
TFW the new hannum beasts drop and you come back to see its power
god the opener is addictive to watch
The warm up sounds very...Thurstony.
Phil most definitely knows how to work with a line as a center in terms of defining techniques and leading by example
will those prototypes be available in the future?
April! Beast sticks
So you're telling me the sound that the snares are producing is from a piccolo tip stick?
Pretty sure they got custom sticks from Vic Firth (Beast sticks) to get as much sound as possible
What Vic Firth sticks these guys use?
Benjamin Cervantes they’re written in the description
Benjamin Cervantes they are using a prototype stick not available yet
They use the piccolos for small sections
Benjamin Cervantes I believe the stick releases in April!
Does anyone have the music for 7:14?
Taz Oka just transcribe it, that part is so easy
Taz Oka or go to a DCI transcription website, some of them have the music
Who wrote this dope ass book?
hannum/peterman hybrid book
Zachary Brenna How long has that duo been writing for them? Crowns book seemed to take a change in 17 but not sure
Jordan Olivarez aungst/hannum collab book in 15 and 16. hannum/peterman from 17-now i assume
Why does the blonde guy look like “patrick not star” from spongebob
Lmao I just peed my pants
When will the new sticks be available to the public?
I really want a pair
April!!!
They're incredible
I swear one of the tenors looks exactly like one of the tenors in our band
Those quads got so out of tune throughout the video
The quad section leader screams chad
General Mills University
Does anyone have music
For 1:05
Just go onto a DCI transcription site for
Those are some phat diddles
Why does the left-most tenor have a screwed up drum?
He doesn’t.
GUTTERED :46 drum 1’s skin
looks like a scratch on the skin but its still shiny
Do you ever find a group that’s so clean it pisses you off, but in a good way?
I’m glad they tuned down the visuals at 1:31 it looked like they were babies with loaded diapers, dancing and hopping back and forth like that.
Mikethedude22 ok boomer

The first attack at 2:08 made me cringe. Other than that, solid line for crown this year.
I think those are supposed to be drags
yeah that was a drag or buzz of some nature
Literally a buzzed attack so...
Samuel Fleming still not pleasing to listen to. I’m sure it sounds great in the ensemble but in the lot it just doesn’t sound as good.
Itz a buzzed flam
