Mamamoo, 4 superstars collectively as Mamamoo and individually as each member has their own very successful solo career. Mamamoo are women being women, not little girls trying to be sexy or grown women being cute, but women being themselves and showing their natural talents. They are widely recognized as being the vocal queens of kpop with stage presence to match. Please react to their KILLING VOICE performance. Looking forward to many more of your reactions, especially to Mamamoo ❤❤🦋❤ BTW, don't mix Japanese beer with Korean Soju

Exactly! I love that. Love to see artists when they’ve been through the ringer, learned the biz, and coming at you with deeper songs that only come from experience. Thanks for the comment! Keep’em coming!

Great introduction to Mamamoo. Solar and Moonbyul were in the last video you did(Mamamoo+) . This is the full Mamamoo group so it also includes Wheein ( one with the bangs) and Hwasa ( one with the panther)
These 4 have such amazing chemistry on or off the stage. I see others have made suggestions..so looking forward to more with them.

Mamamoo is a nonsense word. It was the original title of the song that became their debut single in 2014, Mr Ambiguous. The song was written for Quincy Jones by the co-CEO of Mamamoo's label RBW and the girls performed it for Quincy when he was in Seoul for a concert. At that time they were still trainees and didn't have a name for their group yet. QJ decided not to use the song so it was partially re-written, retitled, and given to the group for their debut and the original song title became the group's name.
Though Mamamoo is gibberish moo means radish in Korean. Mamamoo fans are called moomoos and MMM's light stick is shaped like a daikon radish. Before they had light sticks Korean moomoos would show up at MMM events wearing radish masks and carrying real daikon radishes. New fans are called baby radishes and are often greeted by saying Welcome to the radish farm (or field)!
Subunits are common in kpop and are usually ongoing projects by the members of the subunit, in this case Mamamoo's leader Solar and main rapper Moonbyul as Mamamoo+. Mamamoo+ has released a single and a mini-album and they spent much of the last half of 2023 performing together while the other two members were working on solo projects.
That was a jaguar, a Latin American big cat to go with the Spanish diaspora concept of the music and the set & costume design. It was indeed CG. There's no way Hwasa would be allowed to get that close to a real jaguar. On the other hand the fire dance was real and the girls came off the set blowing soot snot from their noses.
Good observation that Egotistic was very different from Chico Malo. Mamamoo has an extremely diverse discography and have done everything from jazz, r&b, hip hop and latin pop to bossa nova, ballads, EDM, pop, rock, reggaeton and more. Folks say Mamamoo can sing anything and write a song about anything and they've done a bunch of crack songs as examples of the latter lol.
Egotistic is title track #2 in their year long four album series called 4 Season 4 Color. Each album had a theme season and matching color and each title track explored a stage of love in a four part relationship cycle. Egotistic was the Summer/Red song and the emotion was Passion. In the MV each member expresses her own take on Red & Passion via her wardrobe, actions and props in the context of a fiery breakup song where they're telling an egotistic lover to take a hike. So Hwasa's version of Red & Passion is Wild, Fierce and Uninhibited as she stares down the jaguar and bathes in the jungle. I'll let you decide about the other members for yourselves. Each title track MV in the 4 Season 4 Color series uses a similar format, tho visually, emotionally and musically they're radically different.

All hail Momma Radish! Thanks for the info. Awesome they worked with Quincy. I love the music he produced, and more importantly I LOVE his daughter Rashida Jones. I stopped watching the hit show “Community “ after the first episode because because I was angry how her boyfriend(Chris Pratt) treated her in the episode. I’ve since gone back, since it’s hilarious, but I stand by my initial rejection. Thanks for the background info! Keep it coming and we’ll do the same!

I knew that was a fake jag. You can’t fool Aus’s discerning eye!

@@KPopOnLock Thanks for the info about Rashida Jones. I gave up on American tv decades ago and had never heard of her before. I find kdramas much more fun and tbh I only started listening to kpop after stumbling across Korean films & tv shows about 10 years ago. After becoming fascinated with Korean culture and history I figured I should check out what the k-kids were up to musically and soon fell headfirst into the Mamamoo rabbit hole. Still falling ... 😊

Loved the reaction! Oh, another way to tell the panther isn't real is that it has NO weight on the cushion, when even Hwa Sa's arm is pushing it down. But you are right, they did a great job on it!

Good call, didn't even think about how heavy a real panther would be but yeah we are really enjoying Mamamoo. Thanks!
