This is prolly the best job in the world, college head coach at a top program , building ur dream team with top high school recruits and the portal, shit would be so fun
Insanely hard with immense pressure tho
1 thing I learned about coaching is the hours required. It’s a fun job, but 12-16 hour shifts are tough.
@@notqt1367facts coach Dan human too
Yeah prolly
@@notqt1367 I bet no great coach has ever called it "fun".
That's why he and staff are best in the nation!
Ran away from the lakers job
@@RT-ig5cs Yeah, it was like running away from the Lusitania.
Nahhhh, he was smart enough not to take the circus show@@RT-ig5cs
@@RT-ig5cs His coaching style wouldn't have worked in the NBA. Brad Stevens was the last mentally insane coach although he kept his emotions inside; even he had difficulty getting through to grown men especially with established allstars/superstars. He would need a team where his front office and ownership are like the Miami Heat and the Spurs.
🤣🤣 the ball boy catching strays
Stop daydreaming 😅😂
Amazing shot 😂😂😂😂
everyone plays a part and thus is liable. I love it.
Best coach in America regardless of what sport and I’m not even a UConn fan. I loved his line about being obsessed and not taking it easy whatsoever. He’s raised the bar for what it takes to compete for championships in college basketball
Absolute lunatic in the best way possible
The level of attention is second to none. Holy crap.
Wow...This is great stuff! Nice peak into the inner workings of Hurley and his staff. Glad Hurley stayed at the college level!
The best line, to the ball boy " stop day dreaming".
He's our coach!
This guy is a basketball god.
This is amazing
Thank you again Graham. You’re the best at this in our present day. In my opinion. There’s a lot of great interviewers but you have a way about you and you get the interviews we want to see. Well done
It works because UConn is winning. There are other college coaches who are just as obsessive as Hurley, but they're not winning nearly as much. On those programs, the players hate the coaches.
I don’t know if the other coaches do it as well but Hurley is also good at bonding and then building them up during a game. He specifically talks about it. And while not ground breaking psychology often times the connection with the team or coach is.
Yep! Which is why this style doesn’t last long term. Most top players don’t wanna be coached like this. However, if I was a great high school player I would want a coach like this because I’d be trying to get to the league. Best believe these type of coaches will coach all this bad habits out of you. 😂
You clearly don't know the godfather who built this program from ground up.
Say it for the ones in the back🗣️
Proud to be from Connecticut and lifelong Huskie fan. The basketball is the purest there. People just go there for the basketball only. Not the click bait, not the NIL, not the fame or notoriety. It's just basketball there.
great interview graham. really enjoyed getting an in-depth look at how coach hurley runs his program. i like how you have the full interview and then broken down into segments of interest.
really appreciate your hard work.
cheers from southern ontario, canada 🍁
Bravo coach Hurley🎉🎉 applyoong pressure in practice.😢😢 3 peat work soooo well underway...Lets goooo ❤❤❤❤❤
This is cinema. Incredible.
Accountability,,from the bottom to the top !! I have always respected a hard boss because they brought the best out of me.
1979 UConn grad, huge Hurley fan, can't wait for the season to begin!
Holy shit! I've always known that Bob Hurley Snr gave people fits, inspirational fit, but to see it from lil Dan is just awesome! Amazing insight, loved this, thank you!
Hurley would've had LeBron and AD tapping out after a week. They would've ran to Jeannie Buss and said " we can't take this, do something."
yea 2 nba champions…
Great work. Love the inside look to this passionate program.
Greatest active coach in college basketball, no doubt. I think he can catch Coach K with five titles. He's that good.
Ball Guy was terrified when Coach Hurley dropped the ball😭😭
That practice was pure comedy 😂😂😂 fucking ART
He also gets guys to stay and keep developing. In today’s game with NIL that says a lot.
I look up to this man as a fiery coach myself
Bleed Blue 🙏🏽🖤
Damm, I just want to dive for a loose ball now. I'm hyped
That player apologizing for a bad practice is some high level emotional intelligence shit.
I definitely agree. I also think it’s the environment that also helps players to have accountability. You don’t usually hear about college kids apologizing for not trying their best.
Amazing
Unreal access. Loved the intensity Coach Hurley showed ..But I’m always curious of the burn out affect of the family at this level of coaching to.
That's that guts, that's that intensity right there baby. That's that heart baby, you gots to show that heart right there baby. That's it.
Would have really helped if you put subtitles in this vid, I can't understand what they're saying at the beginning
He’s a nut. I love it
Coach Hurley is an amazing coach. I think that goes without saying. I’ve been coached by guys like this and (admittedly) it rubbed off on me. 😂🤷🏿The problem with these videos is there is a 6th grade basketball coach who hasn’t played since he was in junior high who is gonna see this and be like “that is how I am gonna coach my team”. 🤦🏿🤦🏿 There are very few players today (outside of the top college programs) who respond well to this style of coaching)
3 peat
I needed to see this yo make sure I’m not fucking crazy. If I can find that balance with the youth players. I’ll be ok lol
best in the game
One word- intensity
Reason why he is so obsessive now and making the training intense because other college teams are gonna catch up
Dans team culture is the definition of being comfortable with uncomfortable.
If you win the championship, there shouldn’t be any complaints. Winning is hard, practice hard so the games will be easier. Hustle is talent. The only people complaining about him being hard on his players are soft. Soft people soft coaches lose. The real world is hard, and it ain’t easy. This is a good lesson

He knew to turn down that pro Job. He is made for the youngsters in the college, even Olympic and International coaching. NBA is too Laid back for his intensity.
He wouldn't have lasted 3 weeks with the Lakers, or any other NBA team for that matter. I'm not saying that's good or bad. I'm just saying. Thoughts?
What would he do in 3 weeks that would cause him to lose his job?
@@GusI727 Belittling professional players and coaches. He's great for college basketball. Not so much for handling grown men
@@mpearson2803and that’s why the nba players are entitled. I’m not saying you are wrong they just soft
@@mpearson2803 I’m pretty sure Hurley is smart enough to know that you don’t coach Lebron James like a 19 year old college kid…
Agree. Pros have no use for rah-rah guys

I’m glad Dan Hurley turn down the Lakers job because NBA it’s not competitive number one number It’s all about money lack of passion for your crafts
F you dan for using lakers
Should have offered him more money. The Titanic, I mean the Lakers, thought they were shopping at a tag sale.
as time passes kids get softer and softer.. 5 years from now he will struggle to find talent to go there.. and/ or have a NCAA violation.. im not saying i want this to happen, i just think its where we are going as as society ... he is a new age coach that is coaching old school which is great, but like i mentioned i wanna see the program in 5 years.. most likely he wont be there
Possibly all true…BUT, if UConn has a couple more titles I’ll worry about that then!!!
AGREED, lawyers are already lining up to take him down!
@@sirus312 And you know this how?
You're correct. This is how coaching was old school but I just can't fathom that it's not gonna blow up in his face. We live in different times. I hope I'm proven wrong though because he coaches the right way. You have to coach with intensity and passion. You have to be harsh sometimes to bring that some seriousness in others.
He’s a turn off
