    You are absolutely BRILLIANT!!! A woman after my own heart! I was stressing about spending $ for special dotting tools and now I can relax and raid my garage, closet, kitchen & craft room. THANK YOU for thinking outside of the dots!! xxoo

    Beautiful and looks like fun. I worked as a nail tech and used these tools to make tiny little flowers on my clients acrylic nails. I am definitely going to give this a try. Thank you for sharing your tips.

    I feel so honored you mentioned my name. I screamed it to my hubby in the other room. I blasted the video link to all my friends coming this Saturday. I'm so excited! I'm organizing another Mandala Dot Painting Party for July and October. Where can I email pictures of our finished projects?

    Thank you so much for your awesome review. It's great to know that we can likely find SOMETHING around home that can work in a pinch. Crafts don't have to be expensive. In fact, in my younger parenting days, crafts were all about using what you had in creative, new and unusual ways. I'm really loving rock mandalas. When my creative grandkids visit I will have an awesome new project for us all to do. I can't wait!

    Thank you for this information! Since I first found you on TH-cam, I've been hooked. I've been trying to collect dotting tools per your suggestions, but this video is wonderful because you compare and demonstrate. I now have added Craftsman drill bits to my list of tools to collect. My daughter-in-law is interested in this art for her 5th grade class. I've shared this video with her so she can gather inexpensive tools for that. What fun!! Your work is brilliant!

      That is great to hear. I have been taking these tutorial "on the road" to our local liberal and teaching classes there. I have a 32 inch monitor that I hook up to my computer, and I bring all the supplies, and we paint away. It is so much fun to see people finding out that they CAN DO THIS, and make something beautiful with just a little practice.

    Hi Kristin,
    As always, thank you so much for all you do! Your sweet dog is precious! I just wanted to add that I enjoy the Pittsburgh transfer punch set, that you recommended on a previous video. Also, previous to that, the plastic crochet hooks but I tend not to use them as much because of the variety of sizes in the punch set. Hugs and can't wait till your next video

    Thank you - So much useful information here ! My son's idea - he bought me a very inexpensive set of graduated transfer punch tools ( metal and come in a case ) which have flat bottoms, so to speak. They work very well too. Lots of different sizes to play with.

      Ohhhhh...I am going to look for some! Thank you, Denise. I love the metal tools because they don't absorb paint like the wood ones,. and you can use really hot-water to clean them off completely.

    I have found that Alan wrenches seem to be decent dotting tools as well. At least for beginners. They are cheap and can get in a wide range of sizes. Even though they are hexagon shaped, they make pretty decent dots.

    Simply Superb Kristin! one other tool I use in addition to drill bits is a set of Allen keys.....they too come in assorted sizes as the drill bits and u can add dots on top of each other.
    I am looking for the curved brush. pls could you share the store details. I have seen a Martha Stewart set but it doesn't work that well.

    • @PrimateProductions
      @PrimateProductions 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mitali banerjee i dont know if it would be the same kind of curved brush that you all are looking for but at Wal-Mart in the cosmetics look for the ELF brand makeup brushes. Occasionally you can find an eyeliner brush that is pretty fine and is curved. I am not sure why but not all Wal-Mart's always have that particular brush. They cost $2-$3! I dont know if that will help or if its the type you might be looking for but just a thought!!

    Just started watching your channel...this video was extremely helpful thank you. I purchased dollar store acrylic paint and it seems to be cracking when it dries. I also have tried the student grade heavy body paint and it leaves a huge bump so when I put the second dot on it really doesn't look nice. I'm going to see if I can steal hubby's drill set. Thank you so much for your videos.

    • @suem3596

      Cathy Tully try adding 1% white glue, 1% water mix then add 1% paint & mix paint won't crack & I use dollar store stuff. Hopefully it works for you .

      @kristinuhrig2924  7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I thin my to0-thick paints with Golden Fluid acrylics mixed in, that way I don't lose color. They don't crack when dry, even when I use the blower drier.

    Great info on supplies. I too was looking for the curved paint brush. Where did you find it? What brand and size so I can search for it. Thanks!

    Hi, I see that you seal your rocks. Do you also seal your canvas when you are finished? Thanks

    Is there a quality difference with the pearlized paints? You didn't specify like you did with the solid color paints. Thanks!

    Hi Kristin I love your videos can you tell me where you got the bent tip brush. You are so helpful please keep them coming.

      The curved brush was from Michaels in a sale bin. I suspect is was accidentally bent...so I am trying to duplicate it using both synthetic and natural bristles and boiling water. I will let everyone know how it goes!

      Boiling water worked great on a synthetic bristle brush.

    You mentioned the black rock was painted black matte. It looks shiny to me. Could you confirm?
