    I like that modified open floor plan. Big areas but separated so that it's actual rooms, not like so many echoing areas of modern open designs.
    That trompe l'oeil was certainly unexpected but why not?
    I've seen those crown moldings like that before. There's a florescent lighting system inside. It gives a muted light up to the ceiling. They weren't very popular because back then florescent tubes gave off a harsh greenish tinted cold light that made everybody look like hell. You couldn't use a dimmer because of the ballast. You could buy pink tubes but it wasn't a good pink and was used mostly in the meat section of supermarkets to make meat look redder. It tended to do the same to people.
    Now a couple of strings of LEDs would work in that if you wanted.
    I think whoever lived here wanted a tropical Caribbean house and did a pretty good job of giving it that feel. I liked this house. Good video.

    • @StaticSpaces
      @StaticSpaces  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, that's interesting about the crown moldings with the lights behind it. I'm not a fan at all of fluorescent lighting, nor a fan of LED but at least LED is somewhat of an improvement. It just lacks the same softness and colour that only incandescent seems to have! Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the comment!!

    You were right about the kitchen. The kitchen and the den were the best rooms in the house because they seemed to be the least modified. Whoever moved in later and renovated everything had no sense of feng shui. Easter palette + excessive early 2010’s “luxury” = a mess.

    God forbid you might leave a tree. You may actually have to rake a leaf!
    A beautiful outdoor property, until stripped flat. Highly doubt whatever comes will enhance the neighbourhood.
    I loved the light fixtures, and the mural. Whoever painted that did a wonderful job.
    Built-ins are also a favourite thing. Those chairs in the basement didn't look like much, but were actually worth a fair amount. I wonder where they ended up...
    Got to say, as a special interest of mine, I was fascinated by the selection of whisky (albeit empties) in the place! Most of those bottles start at well over $300. Yes, start at...

  • @sheriesehenderson429

    Nothing in this world is free. But when you can abandon a property. No family step up to claim it after one year it goes unkept. While so many people are wanting to become home owners. And. Have been met with road blocks from some sort. Homes like this should be given up for $1.00 like a gift to a disabled person. That's all I have to say.

    • @StaticSpaces
      @StaticSpaces  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can understand your point of view but what you are describing has already happened but to a more extreme degree. In Cuba, the government seized all foreign properties and redistributed them to the Cuban people. Look at the Cuban people now they are dirt poor and can barely afford anything other than food, electricity and water and those are subsidized by the government. I'm sorry but i just don't think that would work.

  • @orionwarren4244

    The former owners toasted their home upon imminent departure. With the tidy profit they no doubt received; it was definitely a time for celebration. Too bad for the mid-century design of this home that will be traded for a big box, soul-less McMansion. But...progress🤨

    • @StaticSpaces
      @StaticSpaces  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean they definitely made a profit on the sale of the home but it's not like as a percentage it's more than any other home. Always a shame to see these mid century homes getting demolished, they are disappearing so quickly. Thanks for the comment!!

    Super cool space. I wonder why there is so much mold, though. I'm in Georgia, US, and it always amazes me how much mold these places have. Is it because the frost gets in during the winter?

    • @StaticSpaces
      @StaticSpaces  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it's just due to general lack of maintenance when these places sit without heat and power. If the water is building up against the foundation walls and sitting there it can wreak havoc on a home, especially when it can freeze over the winter and creat cracks in the concrete. Glad you liked the house and thanks for the comment!!
