*Story 2:* Completely disagree that OP got conned.
Having good connections is such a big deal in many industries and engineering is no exception. OP could literally be denied contracts if OP's "friends" knew the guy looking to hire him and complained that he boasted about his higher income. But if the boss asked for the story & heard that OP just simply paid for their expensive dinner, it would look worse on them than it would on OP. Like every $5 bought 15 minutes of jail time. So if a person couldn't come up with bail they would be set free after 'serving their time'. That way people who couldn't afford bail (or weren't liked enough to get bailed out) wouldn't be stuck all day and embarrassed like that Karen. Story 4 - This happens a lot. I was in a place and these college kids were LOUDLY having a conversation, and one of the girls started mocking a guy in a wheelchair. It was loud enough it was recorded by several people, and when they were confronted thought everyone was listing to their SUPER SECRET CONVERSATION AT 1,000% VOLUME.
We all knew where they went to college, not only were they wearing the swag but it was recorded. I was not the person to confront them, but I did send the video to the college they were from. I got an email later that thanked me, said they were sent a few different angles of the incident, and they were removed from the student body from repeated complaints and academic issues. Apparently having a demeaning conversation about the disabled LOUDER THAN A JET TAKING OFF is not a sign you are doing well at school.

I disagree. No fault divorce, if it's truly a mutual agreement, saves court time, and with kids, makes for better co-parenting. Actually, I think that ALL divorces should be harder to get, except in cases of spousal abuse, child abuse, criminal activity of one of the parties, true financial abuse, or behaviours that endanger a partner or the kids.

Get some large pots and plant a bell pepper bush in each and 1 habañero plant. Place the habañero in the center of these pepper bushes so it will deter bugs (it actually doesn't but they don't need to knpw that. ;) ). You'll get great big bell peppers. ;)

The Jersey Shore accent? Heck no! Fran Drescher’s accent is from NYC where she was born and grew up. Just like most of the cast of “Jersey Shore”. I grew up in Bergen County, NJ, at one time I could tell you what Borough of NY you came from, George Carlin’s admitted Queens accent, the New England influences on the Bronx accent (muting r’s), both Brooklyn accents (Jewish and Gentiles), etc. I even worked with someone that had an accent that has vanished as the ethnic change had eliminated it plus its small range.

@@shanerasmussen5225 Actually, the nasal character is part of a NYC accent.
There are many who grew up in NYC who moved to the suburbs. In the 1970’s my home county was thought to have 50% of the residents as transplanted Nee Yorkers. It was also commented on that the program “Jersey Shore” didn’t have a New Jersey actors.
Many of us hated being asked as we traveled if we came from “Joisey” which again is a NYC pronunciation. Making us correct then.
The Silent Bob movies including “Mall Rats”, gives authentic Jersey Shore accents, as that is where they were from.

I might be in the minority here, but that police charity fundraiser sounds awful on many levels. Leaving aside the acab crowd, it's essentially getting other people to volunteer to do charity fundraising for them and guilt tripping people to pay, and that's after the person being "arrested" is themselves guilted into doing it "for charity".
The entire idea is one massive guilt trip and IMO is disgusting.
