2016 Mercedes-Benz 2500 Sprinter UNBOXING Review - Why It's Way Cooler Than You Ever Thought

For our latest unboxing review we decided to do something a bit different. Let's put it this way: this van isn't for everyone and yet you've probably seen them all the time. This the 2016 Mercedes-Benz 2500 Sprinter, likely your favorite airport shuttle bus. And yes, you can go to your local Mercedes dealership and buy one. But should you? Well, if you're looking for a large van with plenty of seating, then yes. You can also buy the Sprinter as purely a cargo van. Our tester was powered by the base engine, a 2.1-liter turbo diesel four-cylinder that's paired to a seven-speed automatic which sends power to the rear wheels.
A few optional features include the $1,385 Premium Appearance Package, the $1,470 Driver Efficiency Package and, perhaps most importantly useful, the $2,495 high roof. With the latter, a six-footer can easily stand upright inside. Impressive. But say you're in the market for a large van that you want to really customize, like ripping out the rear seats and adding couches, an entertainment theater, etc. Is the Sprinter the van for that? Oh, absolutely. Because of this thing's popularity and overall usefulness, competitors are beginning to sprout up from Ford, Nissan and Ram. Is the Mercedes Sprinter the most exciting vehicle on the market? No, not even close. But with the right modifications (and a sizable budget) it surely has the potential to be. Enjoy the review!

It seems like you guys are unaware that the Sprinter chassis is the most common van used for RV conversions in the world. Every major RV company (Hymer, Roadtrek, Winnebago, Coach House, Sportsmobile, etc) makes conversion vans based on this thing.

I bought a 2004 Dodge Sprinter (made by Mercedes) in 2011, it only had 140,000km which is supposed to be "super low especially for a diesel" and EVERYTHING went wrong with it in the one year I had it. Seals/cooling lines/glow plugs (and some seized) /sensors on, and on, and on. Had to take it to Dodge to have it worked on. $15,000 in repairs in one year. Mercedes is a disgrace.
