Been watching for a couple years now, super proud of how far you've come!! Last time I played USTA (2015), I got bumped up from 4.5 to 5.0, haven't played USTA since. Anyways, when I first started watching you I was always entertained, but your game looked awkward and your footwork clumsy to me. Now when I watch you, I truly admire your game, everything from how you hit your forehand with authority, to the way you can now defend off the backhand and even shorten your swing but maintain good timing to hit some excellent flat, penetrating shots. Your volleys have become a lot more natural, presumably from all the doubles matches you've playing. And lastly, the aspect of your game that I believe has improved the most, your FOOTWORK!!! Not sure if you're specifically worked on it or not, but the amount of improvement you've made has been extremely impressive, especially considering you're already an adult. Keep up the good work, if you're ever in the Maryland/DC area hit me up for a crossover collaboration xD
Great set.. really enjoyable. Two observations: Winston has leveled up a TON in the last 6mths or so! And also Nastya's footwork was awesome.. super fast re-centering after each shot.
That's the big difference between the two...she makes lots of quick adjustment steps and he is more flat-footed and lunging at the ball. Other than that the groundstrokes are pretty evenly matched as well as the serve.
You both seemed disappointed in your play after the match, but i thought you both played awesome. Winston you have improved so much it's crazy. And Nastya has a really fun powerful game. I watch almost all of your videos and your improvement is impressive. Love the content, keep it up.
Every time Nastya got broken, she would tighten up the screws and break right back. That's just years of experience. Pretty enjoyable match to watch. This would be a fun series to keep going.

I’ve often said to my students and this video is proof, the difference in the upper upper skill levels in tennis is in foot work, simple as that. Her foot work is key.
Another nice video Winston! As you already know when you were able to get the ball to Nastya's backhand you were really successful. Perhaps you could consider a little more vertical play in your overall strategy, and try to move your opponent forwards off the baseline or come in behind one of your big forehand shots to take time and space. Adding the ability to finish more regularly in the front of the court would be a big boost to your game. Keep up the great work! 💪🏽

She's great, you can see it in the groundstrokes. The best shots were after Winston returned serve - she caught him off guard and was especially effective going to the corners - either to the forehand harder than Winston hit or right down the line, freezing Winston. Winston seems a little dazed.

watching Karue's videos for some time now and knowing u've been working with him once in a while u can really see his impact on ur groundstrokes and consistency, both on ur fh and bh....they look better more control, spin, especially on ur forehand....still room to improve, and 1st thing that comes to my mind would be footwork, maybe i'm wrong but ur still late on some balls, or u don't move into the ball, u wait to much until u move ur feet but clearly there is a big progress ...keep up with the great work
I played Club Tennis at Michigan State and we would play the women's varsity every year. Most matches were very close and they of course would hate to lose, as would we : )

Good match. Some of her moon balls to your backhand pinned you down as you dropped back to hit. You should try to take that on the rise and not give up on court position. I noticed that your first serve toss is somewhat erratic. You struggled to put it at 12 o'clock. You ended up hitting at 11:30 and basically can only put topspin on the ball. Oddly your second toss was much more consistent. As you mentioned you have been working on it but you might have neglected your first toss too much. Keep improving, you're gonna get to 5.0 soon.

I only watched half, Winston. Enjoyed it. Couldn't have been fun for you to hear that Nastya's style is a grinder. She is likely going to make it easy for you by making mistakes OR by poor fitness... she will eat long points for breakfast! You, on the other hand go for too shots too close to the lines/corners, and make too many errors on placement. Let the opponent beat you; don't lose the point before that!! 😉 If you have the time in your tennis journey, trying the grinder game as a learning experience, let's say for a year, could be a great learning experience for you. Also, hit for consistency when you practice hit, not for winners. Work on making that deep, heavy, topspin shot any time, from either wing.

Hi Winston! Bro yo need to have at least three racquets in your bag with the same specs! ( strings, same tension, new grip…) common you are a 4.5!! Not a 3.5. Please go and buy two more racquets and commit to them!. Great content!
your string color is supposed to be green but it looks pinkish red as you were playing. Same thing with the racquet stripes. did you change the hue of the video? fun match btw.
Try using the backhand slice on the return intentionally (so that you can hit it with quality, and not as a last resort all the time). Hit it low and right up under where their feet land after they finish their serving motion.
Nastya has got a very beautiful game. People often underestimate the upper body strength in female athletes. I think female athletes have much greater arm strength as compared to average men. These female athletes have the ability to kick the crap out of most of the average men's butts.
I don't think Winston is a 4.5. Marginally a 5.0. I don't know how he was rated by the USTA or where the rating was held (some regions do not have as many quality players). I asked my USTA rater to drop my rating down to 4.5 because of my age (over 45) and the fact I hadn't played competitively since college. I found out after joining at 4.5 team there were a lot of folks just like me. So my point being he is young, apparently plays often and probably should get rerated (unless he loses a lot) - although he's a nice guy, gracious and fun to watch.
Okay, Winston is definitely as good as she is. So, my conclusion is... a young, athletic 4.5 man can compete with a former world-class 7.0 woman. If he was a 5.0 who had a more polished and powerful game, he would beat her regularly.

Excellent match played by both but they both had weak points. Winston's weak point was his backhand and Nastya's weak point was her backhand slice
Just curious as to what park or club you play your matches at. I assume it's in the LA or San Diego area.
Did you switch to another babolat? Intro had pure aero vs with hyper g.

she wasn't really "world class" she was #940 in itf singles ranking which is easier than wta rankings so maybe peak 6.5
