What I love about Marcelo is that he's incredibly unassuming. He's not one of these super juiced up BJJ guys. He just looks like a regular joe who works at the local pizzeria, but in actuality could roll you up into a pretzel.

I disagree. I've met him a few times at competitions over the years and he's no average Joe. He's incredibly fast and athletic
His calves are freakish. In person, it becomes obvious he "does something" i.e. isn't normal/a freak athlete/athletic specimen.

I have the pleasure of training at a Marcelo affiliated club here in Ottawa Ontario (Silver7) and had the opportunity to train at MGA in NY many times. I’ve had the pleasure to be instructed by him and his top Students and even had the opportunity to roll with Marcelo. He is a remarkable human being first and foremost and has created a culture in his club that reflects his attitude and values. Amazing instruction and fantastic students to train with. If thier hands are on the mat you attack the neck. If they are protecting their neck take their back. Get to seat belt control. If they somersault follow them and take their back. If they grab the leg nearest their head. Take you down pull them on top put your hooks in. Work from their always responding and reacting to their reaction. Last move is the submission.
