When rolling maybe...but in an mma fight, where there’s ground and pound and takedowns off strikes? Marcelo would go home wit a completely different face
@@abdulwahedrafiqi8677 pretty hard to punch a guy in the face when he's got you mounted in a guillotine or choking you from behind. Did Ben look like he had a whole lot of opportunity to ground and pound?
we saw it multiple times in gi, roger won but marcelo looked good. just roger was way to long and huge for xguard game marcelo was using in gi.. in no gi? marcelo could beat roger probably 4/10 which is crazy given their size. roger wasn't that great no gi but in the gi he was unstoppable
Pablo Popovitch's most notable achievement was winning the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship in 2009, taking first place in the 66-77 kg by defeating 4-time ADCC Champion Marcelo Garcia.
Pablo won by 1 point, a point where he was penalized for timidity (Pablo desperately avoiding Marcello while up by a point) which would have taken the match to an extra round, but the judges nullified the ref's penalty point and handed Pablo the win. MG never settles for points, never stops trying to submit just because he's up in score. Otherwise he'd have won many more championships.
Ben Askren proved that wrestling is the only sport that can bring you to the very top by itself. Askren had 0 striking or bjj. D. Maia has excellent kick boxing and boxing. He does not count. Bjj, muy Thai, boxing, or literally no other marital art can bring to the top by itself. Only wrestling. Name someone else?
Sambo, many fighters like Khabib, Zabit, Islam, and Khamzat trained for international Sambo competitions, before MMA. Alex Perreira, Yair Rodriguez and Jiri Prochazka are also mainly kickboxers and don't wrestle/grapple at all, but all of them are top in their game.
Technique, speed, aggression, innovation, agility and humility. What more do you want in a legend? Marcelo = P4P GOAT.
What makes Marcelo great is the humbleness?
@@guam58 If you take out humbleness he is still the greatest
@@guam58 yes, partly, because it means he doesnt have a fragile ego like Ronda Rousey or Conor McGregor who once beat never recovered.
not even "p4p", just the goat.
also strength, marcello is insanely strong for his size
Marcelo is such a god damn savage. Watching that submission is one of my favorite past-times
Unfortunately doesnt pass that much time
@@bretkindsvatter3574 thats the beauty, I get to watch it that much more to take up time 🤣
Garcia is proof jiu jitsu works no matter your size
Leandro Lo and Tiago Guma are proof it doesn't :)
Looked like a spider wrapping up a bug.
He also dominated Renzo the match before that. After that tourney, all eyes were on him.
I love Marcelo. He seems down to earth too
He still HAS those things, Joe. He just hasn't competed so the public can see them, but he's threatening to return to competition.
Marcello would crush Kahbib like he did Ben. Way too high level bjj.

That's a fact
Amadis I’d love to see that match

@@The-Dom That was ben askren back in 2009 before he knew any jiu jitsu.
“Play that shit again Jamie”
Whatever this is a 2:00, I'm surprised Ben still alive.
Garcia won with his head. He didn't want to risk tiring himself with using muscle. He stuck to smart fighting
I watched Garcia roll with JT he made Jt look like a white belt.
Tree trunk legs💪🏽
THE BEST EVER IN BJJ
its chimpanzee legs, his feet are extra hands
His ricco Rodriguez win was impressive
Joe : his legs are huge
SpongeBob fish: my leggggg 🦵
Play that shit again Jaime!
Tyson Griffin had some serious legs too. Fucking tree trunks!
I would love to see prime Marcelo vs prime Roger.

Marcelo had already submitted pablo with a wristlock.

Israel is still very much a kickboxer.
Did you watched Askren vs Maia? X-D
Is masvidal a wrestler?
Ummm Royce Gracie????
Also did you happen to miss the part of the video where Marcelo (The BJJ player) absolutely toyed with Askren?
