    That choke was deep. And it's one of kron's signature moves. I turned purple just by watching it.

    Took me over an hour and a half to finish this ten minute video. I kept rewinding, watching the transitions at slower speeds, etc.
    100% worth it.

      Please excuse my lack of knowledge but I'm just starting to watch and understand bjj. I still don't know how he lost what happened? Did he get dq for locking the knee. Or did he tap and I just can't see it?

      @@Castlepa26 won by points

    • @jsl8461
      @jsl8461 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@Castlepa26 ADCC rules different from IBJJF rules. The first half is no points, the second half is points. The points system is different. Two of the biggest differences is that you get a 1 point penalty for pulling guard, and the criteria for a takedown is much more difficult to fulfill, but there are others too. In ADCC, all leg locks including heel hooks are legal. Also, it is legal to slam to escape a submission.
      Marcelo got a takedown in the second half that was worth 2 points. He also got a takedown in the first half, but since it's ADCC rules no points are scored during that time period. The score ended up being 2-0.
      If this were IBJJF rules, the score would have been 4-0.

    Those guys are at such a high level. I've practiced BJJ and can easily see that Kron and Marcelo great fighters, but even so, I know they are doing things that I can't really appreciate. I have enormous respect for anybody, in any field, who has spent years of near-obsessive training to transform their natural talents into an art form.

      Umm that’s reason for him to win he’s much younger and more athletic than Marcelo. You can’t really argue skill because he hasn’t had much less training than Marcelo, they both been at it their whole lives. So skill just comes down to who’s the better fighter. Marcelo ain’t in there with a white belt, it’s Kron fuckin Gracie and he put up a great fight. But Marcelinho is king.

      not really. the elbow isnt even down, basically krone is just cranking on marcelos neck. you can tell by the way that marcelo isnt defending, hes just sitting and waiting. he knows that hes not going to go out, and krone is going to eventually let go. you can also tell by the way Marcelo is barely fazed when he does get out, his face inst red, hes not dazed or neeidng to recover, he just goes back to business.

You can be amazing at boxing and suck at mma. While other martial arts do play a role in mma, it's different and the carry over isn't as strong as a lot of people believe.

      @celica96 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @Jeff C good point. If one is so inclined, you can think of it this way: anything that gets you point in a BJJ tournament is very good in a street fight. For example, takedowns would break the guys back on concrete, or sweeps, or guard passing so you can punch him while in side control, or knee on belly which hurts the uninitiated quite a lot and is a good control position, or mount where you can deliver many many strikes. So I actually prefer the points system to sub only, because in fact, positional advancement is huge part of MMA or practically, and you can do many many other things that aren't subs, and you should really fight for positions.

      If you can't go to the gym, you can still do basic drills at home. Upa drills, various shrimps and hip escapes etc. You can also buy a swiss ball and do some basic guard passes. Hope this helps.

    Two of the best : Kron’s definitely got better since then and Marcelo wasn’t at his prime then but why can’t some of these high level guys really learn good wrestling for their takedowns.. that first one was good : but think about if one of them went to Iowa or Oklahoma state for just one season and went through all the practices.. wouldn’t be all this constant head slapping and fake leg sweeps...

      Some of then do that. Then, for some reason, they got guillotined. Please watch a training betwen marcelo and ben askren. Some movement patterns are created to benefit takedowns. The jiu-jitsu practioner takedowns are most alwas mediocre to less, but almost all high level bjj practioner had takedowns with good defensive postura against submissions.

      Very good point my man. Its a world mystery why brazil doesn't also have a top tier wrestling program. I feel like all it would take would be a couple russians to get that started just like maeda from japan did back in the first days of bjj.

      @Jeff C What a ridiculous thing to say. Half of freestyle wrestling is the 'art', for lack of a better word, of remaining on one's feet despite the fact someone must go down in order to win. As far as they're standing, Marcelo would be impotent against a top-flight D1 wrestler; it's just plain to see given his posture and general body positioning in relation to how the hypothetical wrestler would ordinate his arms, legs, and torso. This is coming from a big BJJ fan. The portion of the respective sports where competitors are standing aren't anything alike or transferable.

    To anyone who thinks that guillotine from the closed guard was close, look at how Marcelo's demeanor did not change when Kron slipped his arm through and clinched with his other arm. Marcelo does not underestimate the choke as you can see by his defensive counter such as shifting to the weak side, weaving through the arm on the far side of the choke, sitting back on his heels, and also preventing Kron from full extending for the choke. You can also see that Marcelo never employs any desperate tactics. I'm willing to bet that most of the time, the blade of Kron's arm was across Marcelo's chin. Fatigue definitely played a part for Kron, but amazing match that had two of the most beautiful wrestling based takedowns in a Jiu Jitsu match.
